A lot of the copyright strikes that are happening are bogus. People who don't actually own stuff make copyright claims just for the revenue, and the RU-vid algorithm allows it. There are licensing agencies claiming copyright on open source material, and music companies trying to copyright chords. To the best of my knowledge the only chord that comes close to being copyrightable is the Beatles chord that takes two people to play.

I typed this before on your lesson stream but it mysteriously got removed. lol RU-vid hit me with copyright some years back, me and my band playing and singing a song, I appealed it and they hit my channel with a strike! 3 strikes and your channel gets removed they said! a shame when you can't play your own guitar and sing a song without getting your channel struck! hope this comment doesn;t get removed too. good luck!

It's like a ladder, going up the scale : 1, 4, 5 In C thats C, F, G, In D that's D, G A Some say Do, Fa, So. The letters change but the relationship remains the same in any key? Got it! Good point to learn, IMO.

But, contrary to what he says, you can't "learn what a 4 chord sounds like", because it's dependent upon the key. This is just another case of old weird Jerry being old weird Jerry.

@@Samalyzer45 No, Jerry's right. It's about the function and relation of chords. For example; if your ears are good enough you can recognise - regardless of key - a 12 bar progression, meaning you can hear the harmonic/chord changes of the 1,4 & 5 chords through those 12 bars. So you'll hear and recognise the relation and function of the change from the 1 to the 4 chord regardless of key. With experience you can get to recognise that harmonic/chord change. Someone with perfect pitch could tell if the 4 chord is an E or whatever - but even without perfect pitch good enough ears can hear a chord change from, for example, 1 to 4 without knowing what key it's in.

I checked... As of June 2022, over 500 hours of video are uploaded to RU-vid every minute, which is about 30,000 hours of new content per hour. They have to use an algorithm as it's not possible to view and check all content; within reason... So, perhaps that 'content checking algorithm' is not 100% accurate. But, I hope false positives (whatever) can be resolved to the satisfaction of content providers in a timely manner.

Welcome to the world of RU-vid copyright trolls. The songs you're playing are likely in the public domain by now. A little investigation and a quick talk with a lawyer friend goes a long way.
