Wow, this is the best "unknown advertisement" I ever made! Hahaha, thanks Jon, and I'm quite surprised how easy it was to get the RMP going on your oven! I know a few folks that wanted to mod their T962A and this is the perfect video guide to show them how!

Happy new year and great video! I’ve had the same reflow oven for a few years now and can relate to all the problems you’ve mentioned. I may look at this upgrade now! Thanks for the video!!

Looking forward to installing my recently acquired RMP too - although just on a toaster oven for me...

Love this stuff. It’s why I keep watching. I WISH I had enough time to watch all the live streams, but thank you for the inspiration. You keep me going.

next version automatic fire suppression ? could cooling fans help the temp distribution, might need controllable external duct to suck/blow the air around (duct might need isolation too). "Automatic" air valve as air pressure from circulation would be lower than when 2 fans blow out.

Have you consiered making a large box with an extractor fan to place the oven inside and have a large door at the front to load pcbs? i did this with my reflow oven and it keeps the fumes out of the workshop and vents them outside.
@SuperHouseTV
@SuperHouseTV Год назад
Yes, I have one of those and it totally cures the fume problem. In my old lab the exhaust duct went up through the ceiling and was vented outside, and I haven't got it set up yet in the new location.

Very nicely presented upgrade. Also you might want to get a CO2 extinguisher if you don't already have one. The common powder type extinguishers make an awful mess. The powder will get everywhere and is corrosive, so it is terrible stuff to have around valuable electronic equipment.
@SuperHouseTV
@SuperHouseTV Год назад
Good tip. I have 2 powder extinguishers and a CO2 extinguisher, which is the one I held up in the video. I got that one specifically to keep near my laser cutter so I wouldn't destroy the optics if I had to put out a fire.

@@SuperHouseTV Ah yeah, of course it is CO2 with that wide nozzle

Hey Jon Happy New Years my friend. I hope 2023 will be a good one. For your relay problem. Do you not have any type of relays even one of the cheap ones people use for arduino the blue ones?
@SuperHouseTV
@SuperHouseTV Год назад
Plenty of relays (literally hundreds) but I wanted an SSR so there'd be a chance to do some modulation of the fan. It doesn't really work well with 50Hz AC though. The zero-crossings don't occur often enough.
@DiyintheGhetto
@DiyintheGhetto Год назад
@@SuperHouseTV Nice Nice. What is the model of that SSR? Also what's the Size of that plastic housing case? That's a nice size there.
@UnexpectedMaker
@UnexpectedMaker Год назад
Yah, mechanical relays are not the thing you want to use for PWM based control - They cant really switch fast enough, and so they'll wear over time and go bad and then you might be left with an always ON relay when it dies. That's really risky :(
@SeanBZA
@SeanBZA Год назад
@@UnexpectedMaker Yes, especially the tiny little 5V relays, though with 12V you can at least use semi decent relays, or at least ones that have real 10A rated contacts, as the 230VAC fans anyway do not respond well to PWM to do speed control, and using ones with actual electronics inside will just result in them being cooked to well charred in a few operate cycles. Also beware of cheap SSR devices, many claim a lot of power handling, but inside all you get is a cheap 8A triac and optocoupler, with possibly an input current circuit that might be more than a resistor and a diode.

Must be one, though I doubt you want rosin flavoured pizza.

Wow, watching your videos over the years and you are not looking very good. Is this why you haven't uploaded in so long?
@SuperHouseTV
@SuperHouseTV Год назад
I was diagnosed with Crohn's disease a few years ago, which hasn't been great! But most of the reason that I haven't recorded a proper video for so long is that I find the process of making and editing a video to be really painful. It takes many days of work to create a 20 minute video, and life has been too busy in recent years to block off that much time for it. I've just been trying to get by, without adding more things to my To Do list.

@@SuperHouseTV I don't blame you. I do everything from software engineering to plumbing to automated grow systems. I tried to video to share my knowledge and realized it unfortunately takes 5-10 times more effort than doing the project.
