VLOG: HOW TO GET BETTER FSX PERFORMANCE 

My word, what a difference! I just build a new (very high end) Haswell system and I was stunned to find out I got 20FPS at the most with the internal limiter set to 30 at the most, now with Kosta's guide in Nvidia inspector I can realistically pull 30-40fps in the flight deck of the PMDG777! Awesome stuff Froogle!

I did all the things you said and I got +10 FPS in FSX with the NGX!!! My FSX now runs like a dream! I wish I recorded my face when I loaded up the flight and saw the FPS... O.o I was not expecting anything to be honest. Thank you so much!!!

Wow, My sim now looks fantastic and smooth! Thank you froogle for bringing these to my attention! I did the 8xSQ and am on an i5 3570 clocked to 4.1Ghz, 8GB RAM, Geforce GTX 560Ti - Using Just Flight VFR Real Scenery UK I am hitting 30FPS (locked at 30) over land with pretty much max graphics settings including ground and air traffic. Over water about 25FPS and at UK2000 heathrow it's around 25. All are +10FPS on before. Did not use the wideview as caused everything to look very blocky.

Yep, great advice! The one thing that made major improvement for me was the Vertical Sync 1/2 Refresh rate option set in nvidiainspector. That one made a huge difference.

OMG, this worked so well. My fsx.cfg was messy. Reduced from 11kb to 7kb. Sim running better than ever!

Thank you, this is the one. Works like a charm. Added between 10 to 20 FPS and got me back from ETS2 into flyinging again.

I just found this and my FSX is running better than it ever has. I'm getting #0-60 fps in KJFK with full density aircraft. This made the sim look better than I've ever seen it. Thank you so much. >>>>Subbed

Great Vlog Froogle. I spend countless hours tweaking FSX, googling the mighty Internet and reinstalling FSX numerous times until I came to the same conclusion: Less is more. I did just the three tweaks in the FSX.cfg and it works well. I have a NVidia GTX 650 TI boost and I haven't tried the Nvidia Inspector yet, but I will give it a try to get some more frames.

Helps a ton in certain planes and in certain areas. However, in PMDG 747-400 and more dense areas like Denver and Las Vegas, it didn't too much for me. Thanks for the info.

Thanks Froogle, I've got a PC with 2gb ram and my frame rates were quite rubbish but then I did your fsx.cfg tweak and now I've gone from 10 frames per second to 35 frames per second thank you Froogle :)

I have been following these suggestions and spent the last 2 hours teaking the config files and the Nvidia Inspector files. I have a GTX 780 and so far the best results are with the NVidia 8xSQ setting. I'm going to change a few more things but so far I can say I have not had a huge leap in framerates but the sim's graphics look better. I've been using ORBX Austalia scenery

Hey Froogle, thanks so much for the tweaks guide. I had previously done tweaking, although they didn't seem to work all that well (I did them wrong or something) and after following Kostas's Guide it works like a Charm. I also Have ATI, and I downloaded a program called RadeonPro, now with NGX at ORBX YBBN I get 35-45 FPS and it looks great too!

There are many things one can do to make ANYTHING work better, including FSX. Start with a clean reboot. After a few minutes when everything is fully loaded and your PC usage is down to zero, open the Task Manager, go to the Processes tab, and start turning off the crap you don't need. On mine, I have all kinds of shit like iTuneshelper, adobeupdater, and HP loads a whole bunch of resource hogging programs. Be careful though, you need some of that stuff. You can free up 30mb of memory or more.

The images with the recommended settings in the article you linked no longer work. I would like to use the 8xS version, can you or anyone else help?

frooglesim Thanks a ton Froogle!!! I'll update you on the outcome of the tweaks. Right now, my FPS average is around 15 - 20 FPS. Right now, my maximum internal FPS limit is 30 FPS. Joe.

Sorry Chris I can't provide further guidance. Hit the forums and discuss further tweaking with the experts there. Also make sure you are actually applying the Nvidia inspector settings and leaving it running.

Hey pete just another question about the yokes and throttles. Do knobs for the throttle quadrants come with the pack of the yoke and the throttle because i want it to be like im in a 737-800

Enjoyed your video as always. I get about 25 frames without any fiddleing. Not technically advanced to fix anything I may change. It's ok for us casual users. Enjoy FSX very much.

I just did the widescreen fix and the bufferpools and went from about 12 fps to 20 fps with PMDG 737 at EGNM (UK2000 airport scenery).

when you say you turned off buffer pools and highmemfix and turned on widescreen, did you also apply the rest of kostas tweeks or just those 3 things

Do the descriptions and process in the Kosta guide apply to FSX Steam version? Also, the file name for the FSX Steam cfg file is fsx_se.cfg. Is this correct? Also, I find that inside the fsx_se.cgf, many of the items listed in the guide do not exist. Am I looking at the correct .cfg file. For FSX Steam where is the correct config file?

It's a great bit of software and well worth the investment. Great support and easy to use. If you're thinking about getting it there are some great videos on RU-vid that go into some depth about it.

If you are also doing the NVidia inspector thing then perhaps set affinity mask. If you're still getting no luck, then restore your previous config. As I said unfortunately results may vary - such is the nature of FSX.

I have reworked my FSX CFG (again) but seem to be having really slow VC loading times for the PMDG 777LR (SP1) and 77W... any ideas what i can do to improve these slow loading times during flight, all other views are instant! I also own the Aerosoft A32X Extended...there was a fix to improve slow VC loading times on that model which really helped. Hoping theres a fix here...my sim runs pretty damn smooth otherwise

Hey Froogle, I tried everything you said in your video but when it actually came to fsx, I was getting worse frames than before (I was in the NGX) Previously I got around 18fps, now I only get 10ish. I did the 3 tweaks on a new CFG. and followed ryans guid but It's gone wrong. What would you recommend ?

Are you supposed to leave Inspector running while you use FSX? Cause I just clicked Apply Settings and closed Inspector, and I got an improvement.

I actually also went with Trilinear in filtering in FSX - image quality does not suffer due to the post processing tweaks in nvidia inspector etc.

froogle I don't see a HUGE difference with all those thing from avsim with Nvidia Inspector. I have a Gigabyte GTX 780 in A dell XPS 8500 With i7 @ 3.4 GHZ and 16 Gb of ram and a 500 watt be quiet PSU. I only noticed a 4 fps difference. What do I do

Whats the average FPS increase for Kostas guide? I know its such a broad and open ended questions, but I am not really willing to put in all that reading and work for 3-5 FPS. Now if we are talking a 10+ FPS boost, thats a different ball game. Anyone have any FPS experiences to share after using Kostas guide?

Great blog A-G-A-I-N !!! I use NVIDIA Inspector lots. Best thing I've done for FSX. Can't recommend it highly enough. My opinion to all... Get an NVIDIA card if you can. FSX loves them. Google NVIDIA Inspector separately and download. You won't be disappointed. Loads an loads an loads of presets for everything! All the best. Barty

I do not have an nvidia graphics card, I have the asus amd 7950 which is a very good card but I still get around 20 fps on fsx and when I for example play high graphically demanding games like crysis 3 I can play the game on 40 fps or higher. You said in your video that what you did is only possible if you have nvidia. How can I improve my performance? Must I also blow away the fsx config and do the other stuff you said?

remember what he said "unfortunately results may vary - such is the nature of FSX." I have 2 computers with different hardware with the same FSX settings and getting two different results. Further tweaking is required.

I remember back in the 80s pubs and the like had sit down coffee table like games machines. Back then it was only 10p for a game. The only trouble was that if one was standing at the bar or sitting at the comfy seats, and glanced over to chaps playing on these machines, that also looked dubious!Hence, when one entered the pub and asked where "Bob" for eg. Yes my scenery on fsx steam was screwed up please. it would be important to do that video on if not done yet on how to re-order the fsx or fsx:se scenery.

Hey I got all most all PMDG but not have bought 777 yet i72600k 4.5GHz GTX 580 Nividia so this would work for me too right all got most of the airport add on like KIAD KORD 17FL TNCM and ai.

You should try Dxtory mate, the FPS is soo much better with it running and there is alot more options to fiddle with.
