💯 about complaining. I’m so done with toxic positivity. Complaining is normal and natural, and pretending nothing is ever wrong is not normal or functional. Acknowledging something needs improvement is just an observation that can bring change for the better.

Agree. I had someone trying to start sh!t at work by telling me another coworker was complaining about me behind my back (I have very high expectations for work quality). I went to the complainer and said "I absolutely understand the need to vent. We all do it. I just don't want to hear about it, so be more mindful of who you vent to." I vent and rant all the time, I really believe it is what helps me stay sane at work. I'm definitely not gonna be a hypocrite about it lol. Let's normalize complaining AND being adults about it!

yeeeees, enough with the dictatorship of positivity. my guess is that it makes people feel worse, because it is impossible to feel good all the time and we end up failing at that too. feelings are there to be felt, not to be ignored. nice of you to point that out, doctor dray!

Agreed! We have a range of emotions for a reason. Barbara Ehrenreich wrote about this in her book ‘Brightsided: How the Relentless Promotion of Positive Thinking Has Undermined America.’ She got tired of constantly being commanded to think positive when she was diagnosed with breast cancer.

LOVE the choice of music in the beginning (and the extended silent start). Sounded very different than usual and not at all typical for youtube, so well done you! You should continue with the eclectic music choices. Definitely a step up. And totally agree with you on the danger of being so concerned with "positivity" that you suppress negative feelings.

As an AVID complainer, I think the pressure to be constantly positive is actually dangerous because it encourages complacency and stagnation. Therefore I remain steadfastly in the complaining camp. On a positive note, THANK YOU so much for setting an example as a caring human being and wearing a mask in public. 😷

i'd love to hear your take on Augustinus Bader, the crazy expensive skincare brand presumably backed by "science" and the patented technology "trigger factor complex." everything about this brand sounds pretty gimmicky to me, even though it's developed by a German professor and everyone raved about it. i'm curious to know whether you think the TFC technology is actually legit.

I'm still sticking to the Hydroboost face products and body lotion, and the Aveeno Calm & Restore line and body washes. Those are my absolute favorite brands. Also the CeraVe hydrating bar soap.

Agree! If we never acknowledge that improvement might be nice, what is there? ... Endless decline? How can it be wrong to want life to improve? To want more happiness? I got into wax melts about a year ago! It's nice having something on that I can walk away from for a bit without having to worry about. Also, some have beautiful lights! I like using mine as evening lighting. I set a timer for it, get ready for bed, and then it turns off as I settle in.

I started using #whiteoncream and I love it.My skin is more supple and I have a glow now. Even the lines on my face have faded. No more dark circles, puffiness under my eyes. And, my husband loves it!

Oh my gosh I think you're right next to my apartment!!! I'm a pediatric resident so I live close to the med center. I also HATE that construction. As far as ice cream in Houston - Flower and Cream is right there and their ice cream is AMAZING and they have vegan flavors!!!!!

The PCA pigment gel is worth every penny. I’ve seen a massive improvement in my post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation. 🙌 I have skin type 4 on the fitzpatrick scale btw.

We use Biafine for sunburns in France and mostly only for that sole purpose, never heard of anyone using it as a moisturizer or on a regular basis as a part of their skincare routine

Regarding aromatherapy (ie candles at Bath & Body Works)… When I lived in Calgary, Canada, for several years for my husbands work, I was introduced to SAJE essential oils & diffusing apparatuses. Prior to utilizing diffusers, I often burned candles. However, I have found diffusers to be very enjoyable and, seemingly, safe. I can imagine you might enjoy them, as well. Hey Dr. Dray! That other attachment for your new dryer is a 'concentrator'. You should leave it on your dryer. It concentrates the air and more importantly, it protects your hair from excessive heat. Ask your hairdresser about it.Try it, it works so much better!

Hi Dr Dray, I have a very rare skin condition called lichen amyloidosis. Could you possibly do a video on this condition if possible? I have scars on my body that aren't too bad but still do affect my confidence in a big way ie. I don't often show my skin on any accasion even at home by myself etc. The dermatologists here in Birmingham and London UK have been amazing. They have done intense testing ie skin biopsies, blood tests, urine tests, CT scans etc and have assured me that everything is ok inside my body and that it's just the scars on the outside on my skin that I need to address and my confidence. I am also due to see a psychologist in psychodermatology. Otherwise I am healthy and ok. They recommended aveeno 24 hour moisturizing cream. I was wondering if there is anything else that you could recommend that I could use for moisturizing or coverage etc? or have you had any clients in your practice with this condition and how have they gotten through this etc. I know this is an intense random question so I'm a bit worried about posting it but have done it anyway. Might help someone else who may have this condition. Thank you for all your videos. They have helped me and my kids so much. We have never bought so much sunscreen!! 🙂

Haha! I didn’t get the hype of the boy brow either, at first. I was like-whyyyyy is everyone so nuts over this stuff? But then I tried to go back to my usual brow gel, and was disappointed. Now I get it. As far as brow gels go, it really is the best at keeping the hairs in place all day. I think your eyebrows are pretty perfect so you probably have not much need for that stuff.

Omg! Biafine is excellent for sunburns!! That’s what it’s mostly used for in France we keep a stock of it in our home and is very useful in the summertime with kids burning their skin at times. Also good for hydration after pool time or beach days.

Been using AmLActin for my KP on my upper legs (back) and buttocks (yup, annoying).. I live in Belgium, so I am now looking for a product to purchase here. Been using the new CeraVE SA Cream but not a fan.. Any other good tips around? Else I will just keep importing, but not very sustainable ;) And loving your content, you made me (37) start using sunscreen and downsize my bathroom closet to more 'basic' products, adding in retinol, etc and my skin IS SO MUCH BETTER!! Gosh...

Eucerin rough and bumpy skin relief in a purple bottle,maybe? Has both urea and lactic acid in it. I know eucerin is pretty easy to get in the U.K but don't know about the rest of Europe.

Basic really are the best. Yesterday I just applied a hydrating essence, salicylic acid moisturizer, and a mineral oil+lanolin+petrolatum based baby cream and my skin was better than when I applied all that plus a hydrating toner and LRP cicaplast. I still love all the products I use and they're effective but simple is really the best.

@@sable7114 I absolutely love it. Consistency is key here. I'd usually apply it every other night. Watch out in the sun though as it, obviously, males your skin more sensitive for UV. But to come back to your question, try it for two weeks at least every night, you'll love me ;)

TATCHA overnight repair is working great for me with this cold weather, (Illinois) my skin is sooo dry I tried several moustirizers but still my skin is dry when I wake up in the mornings it's been a week that I am using TATCHA and my skin changed 100% it's a miracle! Seriously how cute is Dr. Dray's Pajamas? I really like the color also! I have a couple of Avene products and I love them. Also, I mostly use CeraVe, and so a everything that Dr. Dray has suggested over the years. I just picked which works best for me but I can never thank her enough!!!! Thank you Dr. Dray!!!

Totally agree w/you about complaining as opposed to trying to be positive 24/7/365. You're right....complaining can bring about good change! I got a Tuscany candle today at Krogers ....usually $12....w/my digital coupon, it was $5.99. I love that it's layered shades of blue...so pretty ! It's a large one.. 18 oz. It's called Harbor Shore...Jasmine & Coastal Breeze. And , just for the record, why would anyone want the smell of a volcano?? LOL (you mentioned this...I had a chuckle over your comment).

Hey Dr dray, I'd love to hear your opinion on this: Would it be beneficial to mist the face with distilled water after cleansing instead of using toner because it's a hypotonic solution and by that logic it would be able to hydrate the skin better?

You wouldn't have to use distilled water, the mist of "normal water" is distilled. I'm not an expert, but I've done that many times and it's very good for both my skin and my lungs. I think it's different from a toner though, since a toner also has ingrediences that soothe the skin and prepare it for treatments.

😁 growing up in the 60's...we kept our bobbi pins in a sucrets tin..lol I just looked it up " vintage sucrets tins from the 60's" are worth 16.50$... guess I should of kept them in there 😏😁❤
