I brought out my Christmas tea towels some of which my mother had given me and I had a cry over them. She’s been gone more than twenty years and I miss her more and more. I hope we can all find some happy memories of the ones we’ve lost over Christmas. Thankyou Kate for your kind words.

Hey Kate I lost my mum this year, dad was four years ago. It’s a difficult time of the year but I have so many wonderful memories to draw on. I watched A Boy Called Christmas and it was lovely. It was on Netflix.

Our pastor started a tradition many years ago with a different kind of Christmas service which he calls "Blue Christmas". It is exactly for folks who have lost loved ones this past year or for folks who simply have a difficult time at the holidays. It is held on December 21st because that is the longest night of the year in our northern hemisphere. It points to the return of light and to The Light of the World.

I love “A Child’s Christmas in Wales”. I watch it every single year and it delights me. Muppets Christmas Carol is fun; Meet Me in St. Louis, Little Women. I’ve lost my mom fairly recently and my dad and son several years ago…for me, it never gets any easier so I understand your pain. I just keep searching out the simple joys of today and happy remembrances of the past. Take care dear Kate, Sally in Northern California

I'm going to suggest Love Actually, Klaus, and a Muppet Christmas Carol. I used to watch Little Women around Christmas as a kid, CBC always used to play the black and white version with Elizabeth Taylor, but there have been many versions since.

My favorite Christmas movie is a very short one - only 25 minutes. The Snowman, (1984) adapted from the book by Raymond Briggs. It has impressionist type animation and has the beautiful song "Walking in the Air" as the primary musical theme. It is lovely, poignant with a bit of comedy. There are 3 versions on You Tube - one with no narration, one with full narration by Bernard Cribbins (better for small kids) and my favorite one with an introduction by David Bowie but the rest with just music and no narration. Give it a look - its free. Indeed it is hard when there is an empty chair at the table. I lost my Mom 2 years ago just after Christmas but to tell you the truth it hasn't been the same since we lost my father many many years ago. We just have to keep them in our hearts and hold on to the memories, you are never really gone as long as someone remembers you. Bless you this holiday season and try to keep well.

I was knitting away and stopped when u started to talk about your dad….I lost my dad 3 weeks ago and I felt your words in my heart. I lost my mom 4 years ago and I still haven’t been able to watch The Sound of Music because Maria reminds me so much of her…. Maybe one day…. Thank you ❤

The Bishop’s Wife is a lovely old Christmas film with Cary Grant, Loretta Young and David Niven, it’s funny, endearing and one of my favourites. Enjoying your Vlogmas episodes, thank you 🎄✨

Hi Kate Thank you for sharing your kind words ,and memories of your Dad, and of loved ones we have lost. A nice gentle film I recommend is, Christmas at the Alpaca farm , it has Snow , Knitted Jumpers and Alpacas . Really enjoying your vlogmas episodes.

Such kindhearted thought and feeling expressed at a time when everything around us is building up for a pinnacle of cheerfulness… I could nearly smell all this yumminess whilst watching you in your kitchen… I enjoy rewatching “Kirsty’s Handmade Christmas” on TV, not every series each year but a couple and I always find that it spurs new creative ideas and my Little Christmas Book gets bigger and bigger every year! Hi Kate. I am so glad you were able to what the movie, not only enjoy it again and have fond memories of your Dad. One of my favourite christmas movies is Jack Frost. If you haven't seen it it's about a boy who loses his Dad. There's lots of fun in and it's abit of a tear jerker for me. I always come back to it though, so much so I have it on DVD. Hope you had a peaceful evenning x

I love White Christmas, I’m glad it brings you happy memories of your dad. It’s my mum’s anniversary this Sunday (dad passed three months before her on the same date and day so these few months always seem harder ) I think that holiday times feel a little strange seeing the merriment around but also feeling a little sad inside. I love the kids movies. Polar Express. BFG. All the versions of Scrooge/Christmas Carol. I miss my mum and dad too. Especially at this time of year.❤️🙏💐

This was a lovely video, I know I'm a few days behind but just wanted to say, those socks you are knitting are gorgeous!! I loved hearing how you took over your late father's role in narrating aspects of the film, he lives on in you ♡ What wonderful memories you made. Last Christmas is a newish film and I really enjoyed it, it definitely wasn't my thing to begin with but I couldn't stop watching and cried so much at the end. A good spirit lifting film though and I laughed alot through it. I always love your videos, I need to catch up now xx

Hi, great to see you back doing vlogmas- really enjoyable👍 I just watched the 1999 version of A Christmas Carol with Patrick Stewart as Ebeneezer Scrooge - I hadn't seen it before and really loved it. My son (12) also loved it....beautifully made film and some great acting......hope you find a good film to watch❤️

Hi Kate! It’s so lovely to see again on RU-vid. I’m back at work this week which, for me, also means time to catch up with vlogmases and I’ve really been enjoying yours. ❤ Some Christmas movie recommendations for you: The Christmas Chronicles & Klaus on Netflix, Arthur Christmas, the Holiday. And one of those Christmas romances that is bad but also good is A Castle for Christmas. It’s set in Scotland and it makes many of us living there kind of cringe but also laugh a lot at all the clichés. It’s good fun.

Thank you for sharing with us, Kate. Do you like old black and white movies? Holiday Affair, 1949 movie is one of my favorites. Also The Bishop's Wife. A newer one is "The 12 Dates of Christmas"... It's a 2011 movie.
