I see the pure good intention behind your doing this. A tip: purchase items throughout the year, at thrift stores or at sales. The week before Christmas I refuse to buy anything in a store, as they become greedily ridiculous! Also, altruism means passing forward the blessings in your own life, so personally I receive the gifts I get (and often take for granted) with an open hand, ready to do without something luxurious just once, in order to share freely my good fortune. You will never again need to consider how much these boxes cost you, and it is really a little bit of sacrifice, and a whole lot of getting the bits together throughout the year. And, you will enjoy the giving so much! Wishing you and Jean a delight-filled and wonderful Christmas! Jolie Noelle!!!

Maybe you should start shopping for next year boxes this coming January to get deals and not be pressured by time.

I think you bought some very nice items for the boxes and they will be enjoyed and appreciated. I agree some of the prices do seem high for low quality items, especially when you would like to be able to give better quality for warmth. It’s hard to feel good about paying more and not getting the value. It’s 3 people that may not have had anything but your thoughtfulness will give them some joy.

Merry Christmas to you both.🎄❄⛄🎁 My advice to you is to start shopping on the outskirt of Paris . The prices are more reasonable in stores like Action, Lidl, Aldi or at Industrial Estate Stores.

I’m sure I could get better and cheaper in Scotland … well I do as I do boxes .. but I knit for them … also I go to shoe shops and they give boxes or ask on FB and people give shoes boxes ..if you start early enough , I find shops also will give items for the boxes as gifts

Shocking prices for sure! In Canada, that wrapping would cost $6 - $8 dollars. Nevertheless your lovely boxes will be sooo appreciated. And thanks for the peak at Bercy Village - it is adorable.🎄❣

Our prices in the U.S. have escalated significantly over the past two years especially groceries. If this is something you want to pursue next year, start in September and gather things as you find them. We do Samaritan’s Purse the shoebox’s go to needy children throughout the world.

you are not crazy those prices will keep people from basic needs. In the USA it isn't that bad even though prices have increased. Merry Christmas

Merry Xmas to both of you. You are not crazy! I live in New York City and although prices here are through the roof and food, clothes are sky high, you can still find deals if you shop around. Our 1.25 store does carry sock, gloves and hats for $1.25. Love your videos.

Everything in Europe is far more expensive than in North America (this includes Canada). BTW, polyester is a terrible fabric for socks or underwear, it's plastic and does not absorb water (sweat, etc.). Cotton or cotton blend is best and in Europe that is absurdly expensive. For next year if you do this I would recommend that you purchase everything you want to give in either Canada or the U.S. and bring it back to France in your suitcase. Bless you for doing this and thinking of others.

You are not crazy, those prices are crazy expensive!! We can get gloves and hats in the Dollar Tree for $1.25 and Walmart still has affordable items. I bought a pair of warm winter boots for my granddaughter yesterday for $3.69 on clearance in Aldi’s. They were regularly $19.99. Are those prices higher because you live in the city? Would they be less outside the city? Anyway, I enjoy your videos. Merry Christmas to you and Jon!

Inflation is so bad everywhere. Much small Christmas this year.

Welcome to the economy. Inflation is THE major issue affecting the average consumer, and is all over the news, including Canada. The biggest difference may be the $ stores or even drug stores that frequently carry cheap, but effective, gloves, socks, touqes

I think that saying you are the victim of “price gouging” is a little extreme. Price gouging occurs on products that are somewhat essential, and in short supply. Not on “ stocking stuffer” products. On a positive note, thanks for doing the vlogmas.

I think it's expensive because of the poor exchange rate from euros to Canadian dollars. I think in euros the prices seem fair but once converted it does seem pretty expensive.

I think it’s also important to keep in mind that our salaries are 2-3 times less than in North America 😬

Government spending to the point of huge debts creates inflation.
