VM22 tuning stock jet versus 125 jet.
Did a top-speed run with the Predator 212-powered Azusa minibike with the jetted VM22 Mikuni carburetor and then changed the jetting out for stock jetting to see how much performance we would lose with stock jetting.

I was running 46mph,12t clutch 75r sprocket 115jet changed 65r sprocket ran 53 put 125 not tested yet,my plug was real clean after maybe hr run time figured was lean find out later what run now n reject plug🔥

I couldn't even get my 212 to run right at all till I put a 22.5 pilot jet and I put a 132 main and site still a little lean but I'm running a straight open header pipe

Huge fan here! I got a stage 2 predator and I really liked the 15t max torque clutch with stock 75t sprocket but it only goes 59mph what gearing could get me to do 70 without losing too much torque cc100x here💪🏼

A 59T rear sprocket. I'm running 10T clutch, with 45T rear sprocket. I like #40 chain more. They should all be #40 chain. I was looking into 12T clutch, and they only have them for #35 chain. Would like to see a 3/4 shaft 12T #40 clutch sprocket, even on the torque converters the damn 12T is for a #35 chain. Makes no since either its backwards you want a stronger chain for a higher gear ratio, with performance add ons.

Hey bud I just picked up a vm22 for a stock coleman ct200u-ex. This carb came witha 75 main. What size do you recommend to start with for a stock bike with this vm22 and just a aftermarket air filter? Also. Do i need to change the pilot jet ? I will do an exhaust eventually so if i need to get a kit with the pilots i will . Thank you in advance,

I live at 3700 foot elevation. I usually get away with the stock pilot and a 115 or a 120 main depending on engine size and mods.

I like the shot when you go roaring by. My question is when you changed the main jet did you adjust the air/fuel screw...?

Thanks! The air-fuel screw is for the idle circuit. It won't really affect wide-open throttle.

Well mr.66 iv found the limits for the predator 212 non hemi blocks they crack and it looks almost like a spider web some are deeper then others but i definitely have a structural defect i was running a vm22 with a 130 main jet and it was still making power till the 26lb valve springs limited me to 8000 rpms with my set up on a old manco thunderbird mini bike i was spinning 8000- 8400 rpms 60mph on a 15in tall tire and a 6:1 gear ratio

@@Black66 212 mod 2 cam and 1.3 ratio rockets with a 27,25 stock non hemi head with 26lb valve springs and stock length chromoly push rods add the 1.3s to a mod2 cam and it makes crazy power you should do a video comparing the 1.2s to the 1.3s on a mod2 cam in the 224 im sure you would really pick up alot more power

Mine doesn't hardly run with a 125 jet! 125 jet needle on the bottom clip it will idle but as soon as I blip the throttle it like backfires and dies?

I would do a complete kit. A low-speed jet, emulsion tube and main. The entire kit is a round $10. Maybe a .035 main to start with in a stock carb. I have a 155 jet in my VM22 carburetor, I'm running it on a 196cc 4stroke engine. Do you thank I should go down to 125 because I just got the carburetor and haven't had the engine running with that 155 jet yet. do you think that's to high? For that 196cc engine? I ordered more jets but if you think 155 jet would work fine in it I will cancel that order. Thank you my friend

What’s up friend, first I want to thank you you always reply to my comments within a few hours thank you very much. I need to ask you a question I have a 212 Predator slightly modified No matter what gear ratio I use I always go 4 miles an hour slower than what it’s telling me I should be doing. Does weight have something to do with top end speed I am 6 foot two and I weigh 250 pounds, I know shame on me. But I could never reach top speed no matter what gear I use so I was wondering if my weight has something to do with high end speed thank you

Yes, how about a Predator 224? The longer stroke "58MM" of the 224 will help at pulling the weight of a heavier rider. The 224 has quite a bit more torque.

Because it only has one hour on it and I just did a complete build, I’m OK it doesn’t have to do the extra 4 miles an hour I was just wondering if it was a mechanical thing or a fat thing ha ha thanks a lot buddy, I’m really not fat but I’m a big guy 6 foot two and 250 pounds I shouldn’t be on such a little bike. But I’m definitely heavy for Minibike, thanks for getting back to me

Thanks! It really depends on your altitude , temperature engine mods etc. Every engine and carburetor is different. You should tune it for your own individual combination . Maybe start out with a 120 or 130 so and go from there.

Yes, it does make a difference. You could change gearing with the clutch

That’s what mine is doing. roya jz made a video saying if it does that then it’s getting too much gas and you need to go a smaller jet

Maybe start out with a 110 or 115 on a VM22 carb. Run it for a while and look at the spark plug for that nice brown color. If its black then it's still too rich.

@@Black66 I am at 1300 FAS and put a 115 in and the plug is black-black. I have a mikuni 22mm and header pipe. Ran a 107.5 I had laying around and still puffed black smoke. Go 105 or put 100 back in?

@@Black66 it didn't have any leaks, I did put a 110 in and seemed to work. The only thing now is it backfires on deceleration and did when it had the stock carb with the aftermarket header. I'm guessing it's running rich? Or are my valves bad? The bike was bought brand new only rode it hand full of times so I would hope the valves aren't damaged.

@@justconcentrate9843 The popping is a result of the air/fuel mixture becoming very lean when the throttle is closed, and the engine is spinning way above idle speed. Most of the time you get backfiring with a performance exhaust. It sounds kind of cool I think lol

@@Black66 I do some tweaking tomorrow and see if I can get the popping dialed back some. Mine sounds like an AR going off when I let out lol. It does sound cool but I know it has to be bad for the engine. What would be the next mod to do after a carb and exhaust? Valves and springs or flywheel? Or is it good to do both of those at the same time. I was worried about the flywheel breaking or messing a valve up with the extra rpm and popping.

@@justconcentrate9843 Flywheel and rod are always good. Especially when you start adding RPM potential with springs . The billet parts will make it safe for doing future mods.

I was using the stock pilot that came with the carb in this video . I live a 3700 feet. I can usually get away with a pretty small jet .

I run an equal to having a 15 front and I think it's with a 60 or 65 tooth rear(with semi stock). it would depend on the goal of gearing your mini bike. torque and top speed trade off. I would run a 12 front and 60 rear for a good middle area. it also depends on a few other variables like weight. I hope this helps you out, be safe ✌🏼

@@hablando_del_a.m.o.r9654 you should be able to get the bike up there in speed I'm actually swapping a high performance Tecumseh I built for a stock 212 to slowly build up like I did with the Tecumseh I'm first going to remove the governor (properly) and do an e85 tune because gas prices are so damn high ... I mean performance 😂
