VOB?! First Reaction - Voice of Baceprot God, Allow Me (Please) To Play Music & School Revolution! 

VOB is very political in the sense of being violated of their rights so they use their music to be outspoken. 1st song was written in defiance of what their countrymen were putting them through, a very strong Muslim country and the leaders of the small village called Garut west Java, Indonesia. They were not allowed to play that kind of music being women but they defied all of those men and did it anyway. 2nd song is about their school years of being bullied by students and instructors, it is in their dialect language but once you get to read the lyrics you will understand what the meaning is. Most of the Indonesian music style is based on what they love the most and they love bands like Nirvana, RATM, and SOAD, with hints of Black Sabbath. Voice of Baceprot -often abbreviated as VOB-is an Indonesian all-female rock trio formed in Garut, West Java in 2014. The group consists of Firda Marsya Kurnia, Widi Rahmawati, and Euis Siti Aisyah. They sing in English as well as Sundanese. The word baceprot means "noisy" in Sundanese, members are Firda Marsya Kurnia on guitar, Euis Siti Aisyah on drums, Widi Rahmawati on bass. They have been around since 2014 and they were mostly a cover band at first since then they have become very popular on the other side of the world. "Voice of Baceprot" Many people still don't know them, even at first they were notified by the foreign media. Experiencing a lot of bullying, terror and even death threats just because of their identity, as a Muslim woman of course. LOL Yes, you were right. We all knew what was coming *_immediately_* after you said you couldn't hear the bass. They had a hard time in their Indonesian village getting accepted for playing rock/metal music. At one point Marsya (vocals, guitar) was punched in the face! They went to their religious leader and said 'the Koran doesn't say women can't play music - what can we do to follow our dream'? He told them to write a song asking God (Allah) to allow them to play music. That's where God Allow Me originated. The song went viral and they have received world-wide acclaim and toured Europe to packed houses. Their Live cover of Rage Against the Machine's _Killing in the Name_ in France is the *best I've ever heard*. I recommend that one and Not Public Property (my personal favorite of their songs). This is the third song I've heard of theirs. So far, the guitarist and Bass player are simply channeling Tony Iommi and Geezer butler. The sound of this band has Black Sabbath written all over it. Very nice, very smooth. Song construction is phenomenal.

The girls are from Indonesia and are Sundanese, one of the world's largest Muslim populations. (Not to be mistaken for Sudanese). Great little band with a large message. You should see their live performance. I recommend the one in Transmusicales France 2021 as it has better video and sound.. Just go to time stamp and pick whichever you want to see .
