"He has this weird authority, but I don't know who he is..." Priceless, LOL. Henk is Dutch stage royalty, well-known throughout Europe. He's done tons of opera, operetta, and musical theater. So that's what you're picking up on. The beauty of it is that he was one of Floor's idols. She saw him as Erik (The Phantom) as a young adolescent and has idolized him since. Like everyone else there (except Tim), Henk had no freaking idea who she is or what she could do. By the time she got 'round to this, he had adopted more an attitude of "proud papa". Kinda like "that's MY girl, look what she can do!"

Never let Floor sing your own song, she'll own it. . . . . . . . .

this is what this Dutch TV show, Best Zangers aka The Best Singers, is all about. Each of them sings for each other singer, either his piece in their own interpretation or a piece close to his heart, that's all.

So here's a thing. A Sweden living Dutch singer of the finnish metal band sings latin salsa in spanish. And she kills it! Floor was nervous at the beginning so she looked really concentrated. It's Rolf Sanchez's song (the guy with brighter smile than my future). You're spot on with that. Floor uses her unique technical skills in every song. Rapid tone and texture changes. Some gravel here an there to hook you in. I could listen her almost endlessly. Great analysis, thank you! And by the way, I like your mugs!

Her choice of what to wear throughout the show is worth noticing too. She has a great sense of how to stage herself for each song. 1st episode she goes on in full metal gear and sings opera (well operetta to be exact). Then a little more loose but still with a rock touch for the dutch pop song. Then full spanish style with colorful dress and flower in her hair and so on. Shallow she does sitting down in a simple grey dress. She packs a lot of showmanship on top of everything else :)

Floor is a freaking vocal MONSTER! Shes untouchable.

I think my favorite part about this performance from Floor is how she's just bodying the song and this performanc. She's totally vibing off of the other performers. You can see them getting energized from her, and then you can see Floor's reaction to them, upping her intensity. Her look and movement at the end says it all. It's too cute, I can hardly stand it!

You should check out Henk' rendition of the Disturbed cover of Sound of Silence. By the way, the original arrangement by Rolf Sanchez (the bearded guy on the couch) was in a reggeaton salsa style.

My head-canon for this one is: Rolf: Yeah, I was really messed up when I found out my girlfriend was cheating on me and then left me for the other guy. But then my producer told me I should write a letter to her, and then we turned it into this song! Floor: ....why is it a salsa, tho? Give me that

This show was so well received that she decided to do 10 solo concerts after the last episode was broadcasted. In those she performs the songs she did in the show, but also songs from her whole repertoire. Of course all sold out, but the best news is that for that reason the last concert at March 24th in Amsterdam will be professionally recorded and HQ streamed, thanks to her successful crowd funding.

I'm amazed at how many variations of the chorus she was able to come up with and then pull off flawlessly.

From reading other comments I think that on each episode each singer sings a song of a chosen one of the other singers. This week it was the songs of Rolf Sanchez who was the one reacting so enthusiastically. Henk Poort is a Dutch opera and musicals singer who was the lead in the Dutch production of Phantom Of The Opera, so when he sang it with Floor on this show it was quite something. He also did a version of The Sound Of Silence which people react to.

It's not the singing alone. It's the whole her on stage. Great personality. A Valkyere here too, just like in de Nightwish concerts.

The look of sheer joy on Floor's face was a "Yes I did it! Spanish! No mistakes!" according to Floor.

On episode 4 she didn't sing, but you should check "Sound of Silence" (Disturbed version) by Henk Poort (the opera singer) and "Strong" (written by Fllor) by Emma Heesters (The RU-vidr). And maybe the salsa version of "Hotel California" by Rolf Sanchez...

What I also find amazing is that whenever possible she choose songs written by the singer on the central couche in that episode. She didn't have that choice for Henk Poort (opera) and Emma Heesters (youtube) but for all the others she choose personal songs. Thank you Sam for being someone from Glasgow who speaks slow enough for me to understand :-D

German, Dutch and Spanish so far, the rest are going to be in english, which is good for those of us that don't speak Dutch or German. Her pronunciation in this one is pretty amazing for someone who doesn't speak spanish!

Great reactions to Floor so far, they have been fun to watch and see you react the way a lot of us do. I've watched the songs Floor sings on the show along with a few others, and they are all great singers. I think they stay in a villa and record over a week, each singer having one episode where the others sing either songs that mean something or have been written by the featured artist. Its worth watching the whole show if you can find it. They are all famous in their own fields/genres in the Nederlands, however Floor isnt and the others hadn't a clue who she was or what she sounded like. They were amazed when the host said she had sold over 9 million albums and were also amazed and in awe when she sings as you can see by their reactions. I don't know how or why but you cant help being mesmerised by her and her voice. Keep up with the reactions.

If you say it's not a bong, so be it :) Henk Poort is a successful baritone nationally (in the Netherlands) and internationally in Europe, has played opera, operetta, musicals, played in films. He is Floor's idol since her teens, when she saw him playing in a show. That might explain his aura of authority.

Her ability to go from head to chest back to head seamlessly and then add a little rasp or a full on growl to any of it is unheard of. That's our Valkyrie for you though!

Love your humor SS-T. This was the first time Floor has sang in Spanish. She did it to honor her Spanish speaking fans all over the world. That last chorus really shows her lung power and breathing technique. hard to tell where she could take a breath. loved the reaction video. 3 or 4 more Beste Zangers to go. All of these are sung in English. All very different and wonderfully done. BTW, Henk Poort is a well known Opera singer from The Netherlands. See you then SS-T. Be well and keep on toking. The first verse is intentionally intense. If you read the lyrics in Spanish she's facing with resentment someone who has betrayed her, like: "How are you, I've been told you're so good... You're family is happy because you're with him... You have already forgotten what we had... Because of following my dreams I'm not worthy of your love, etc.". As a Spanish native speaker, I think is quite remarkable how she puts all that emotions in a language that is totally out of her comfort zone. Goddess ❤️

I like to joke that Floors voice is the best drug out there, but in a way its accurate. She can't give you the full dose directly, shes got to work you up to it XD

I know Phantom with Henk is what blew her up, but this was my favorite performance by Floor on Beste Zangers.

Im spanish speaker, i learned Swedish language, its new sounds new vocals, she is duch, she speak 3 or 4 languages, if i am a purist idiot i could point few mistakes but it is irrelevant, her grace, her grateness, her voice, the time she took to learn fonetically right spanish make me give her än standing ovation.

Great reaction again. Next episode is Floor's own episode in wich all the other singers sing her favorites and her songs. It will be hard to choose a best one, so let me give you the most memorable performances: Emma Heesters (pronounce like the city Hastings) is a RU-vid star and sings Strong, a song written by Floor, when she was in After Forever. Samantha Steenwijk (the more full figured singer) is a Dutch folksinger and performs Our Decades in the Sun by Nightwish, but in Dutch! Rolf Sanches, who is the writer and 0riginal performer of Que se siente, sings a favorite of Floor, Hotel California. Check this out, he made it a special version. Also give loads of credits to the band, the Marcel Fisserband, who do all these different styles. And last, but certainly not least: Henk Poort, who is a Dutch opera singer and musicalstar. He sings The sound of Silence and he took the Disturbed version. It's hard to choose, because all are worth watching.

One thing to know about Floor is, that she is a massive singing geek/nerd. She really picks apart the material both from a technical and a lyrical/emotional point of view. And she is so so good at what she does. But it's remarkable to see her in this setting, because this performance is actually the first time in this program, where she really seemed comfortable. It's very humanising seeing a singer with her skill, be a bit too nervous when she has to performer in a completely new setting.

My favorite song in this show! Playfull, strong, and full of emotion... There Are a lot of Great performances in this show, but my inner self did find his spanish soul when it did hear this song.

I remember this was the first song that she let rip in as her previous two songs were the quieter Mama and Vilja lied. This one showed the other artists a little more of what she could do.

Oh no there was nothing of Rolfs in this rendition but the lyrics and general melody... Rolf' was fast salsa/reggaeton she made it into a rocker.. HUGE changes and it blew Rolf away in the best way
