And the video finishes with the bike going one direction, but he is facing the opposite direction. I think you might be right . This has nothing to do with sexuality (at least not only about it) like every one is assuming, but a more deaper meaning.

I agree completely. I'm a bit disappointed with the vocals tbh. It's autotuned and such a disservice to just how amazing his vocal sound in SOTT. Hopefully the rest of the album does more to showcase his vocals.

@@valanaaaa songs, just like this one, are open to individual interpretation. If Harry said " i am bisexual" or 'i am queer", show me where. Verbatim. If he didnt, then it's pure interpretation and speculation. Even this songs meaning is open for interpretation. Maybe it's about sexuality. People claiming to know your sexuality when you arent even sure of it, yourself. Or maybe it's about a broader idea of individuation vs. fame, which is the ultimate projection of the collective, hell bent on creating an mythical archetype to relate thier individual selves to, which separates the actual individual from the concept of the individual... "lights up and they know who you are, but do you know who you are?" To reduce something as complex as that to a statement on sexuality labels Is exactly the pattern depicted in *this* interpretation Fame makes everyone think they know you and project who they think you are onto you, but at the end of the day you go home by yourself, look into the mirror, and have to figure out who you really are on your own, without the collective input, because real life goes on outside of that bubble; your loved ones wont settle for some 2d version of you. I could easily interpret the crowd of people as that... various sexualities and identities being thrust upon him. I havent seen anyone really describe the feeling those scenes gave me. some seemed to see it as a celebration of fluid sexuality. Me, personally... they made me uneasy and I couldn't pinpoint why. I think it was the placid submission to all those wondering hands on his person, his agency. there are rare moments where he shows clear agitation. If it's purely celebratory, a free spirited orgy of energies ... how do we explain those glimpses confusion, seeming lost, those moments of evident agitation and even removed speculation in between getting lost in it? If we are going to roll with that narrative we cant cherry pick; we have to fit it all in. Yet another interpretation.... it could be commentary on the direction of his career. Crowds of adoring fans, the debauchery of idol worship you can so easily get lost in, and the rare, haunting moments of clarity when you snap out of it for a moment and realise the bacchanalian nature of it all, and that it was never really about *you*, though it has attempted to absorb you. It could be about the pressure to live up to or reject those projections- stare into the abyss so long- that you, yourself, lose sight of the true individual at the core of it all - You. Him driving on the back of a bike, facing the other direction... could be about a feeling that he had separated from the group (one direction) while being driven to some unknown destination, not having any idea or control of where you're going. Enjoying the ride, until finally, the ride is over and you realise the trouble you're in. my point is, while you may have gleaned that meaning from those songs and interviews, unless those exact words came from him 'this song is about the fact that i am queer', or this interview is about how I am bisexual, by inferring those labels you're only projecting an image onto him that you want to. It isn't who he really is. Only he knows who he really is... Him and whatever higher power he believes in, if any. It may not bother him. But if it doesnt, it's only because he is so sure of who he really is (or isnt) that your own projection cant affect that, anymore. That doesnt mean that it's harmless or that it never has ... Not all interpretations are created equally. When i heard the song, it seemed to me about him coming to terms with his sexuality, his spirituality, his career, his shadow, his light, all while under the spotlight of a giant projector: his fame. Thats a fair interpretation without more projecting of any label or identity onto him. nowhere does it state what that sexuality is anymore than his religious beliefs. He is wearing a cross, but never says he is Christian. He is dancing with men and women without ever saying he is bisexual, queer, straight...And yet, just by doing those things others will impose those labels onto him. Anything he does, any token symbol or gesture others will use to impose the image they want to see onto him. To me, harry is speaking to the importance of knowing who he really is and what he really wants amongst all that. But not once does he feel the need to explain who and what that is, exactly. And I think that's the point many are missing, as they look for clues and messages within in order to validate their image of him. Therein lies the irony.

I noticed that too. Its pretty dark in lyrics but the sound is the opposite. Harry said he was experimenting with psychadelics writing this album and I'm definitely getting that. Its a deeper meaning than what is on the surface.

Lekha Reddy looking through the lyrics again, it feels like this is him expressing what it’s like to be famous and have everyone know him. “All the lights couldn’t light up the dark” is probably him feeling irrelevant and a nobody before he was thrusted into fame and “Lights up and they know who you are” could be a reference to him being this megastar now and everyone knowing him? Also “Shine, so bright sometimes” a reference to the fame and attention being too much, “I’m not ever going back” could be him stating that he isn’t ever going to or can’t leave his new found life style within fame and attention.
