Ben Duerr will go down as one of the best deathcore vocalist of all time imo, dude is RIDICULUS. You should also check out some of Hollow Prophet, it's his side project but man he's so MEAN in HP.
@@benturtl9076 I don't think I will, I've already practiced for about 6 years and I have to take a long break from it because I was too focused on the sound and not the techniques at the end
Surprised deathcore made a come back like this (did it ever go away?), being much better than when it was a growing music genre back in the Job for a Cowboy days. These modern deathcore bands are fantastic, SoI is one of my favorite of them, I love their symphonic black metal addition sound wise, real reminiscent of Dimmu. The vocalists are insanely talented too. Under a Sullen Moon was the first song I heard from them and I'm so glad I found it via Spotify's recommends.
Imo deathcore is in its prime, talent wise right now. There are SO MANY great deathcore bands its actually insane. It has gone away in the sense of mainstream attention and seemingly relevance. The RU-vid channel Punk Rock MBA has a video that breaks down what "killed" deathcore if your interested in that.
I love how i can hear the Dimu Borgir influence in those black metal highs he does on this track. S tier vocalist Thanks so much for the breakdowns! You've really helped me drastically improve my vocals over this last year
I seriously love this guy! The only videos that don't make me feel wierd when he imitates cause it actually sounds good as fuck! Very easy to tell you really know what you're talking about! Love it!
I've watched enough of these videos that it was fun to just see your facial reactions while listening to the first part. I knew we were about to talk about resonance and I was in for it.
I would love to hear Mark's breakdown of a Tom Barber track. Either like Infernal Haunting or Flesh Coffin from his Lorna Shore days or Insects from his new Darko US side project.
great work as always. Relatively new to the channel, but its refreshing to see more actual metalheads and not just people with an "appreciation" for the genre
you dont need a DSLR the new trend is mirrorless cameras that have the power of DSLRs if you don't want to spent too much then the Sony alpha 5100 is great you can also use it for livestreams if you have a capture card :)
I mean the Fuji X-T2 is mirrorless, but it's definitely a camera more meant for enthusiasts that know their way around a camera. Might not be the easiest to get looking good out of the box. Sony or Canon would be a bit easier for a novice.
Pls keep on doing these videos! I enjoy them soo much, especially because the educational part is so well combined with the music video its self, so you can really see how everything is done.
@@xIExile sounded like he did live without cupping the mic when i saw them in austria last year. also people say the exact same about Vulvodynia and dude gets that tone live too. Cupping plays a role but u cant just get a completely different tone out of it
@@allhailthecore3136 live it doesn't matter that much you can't really hear the diffrence anyway but for studio recordings he did that till a level above human ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-ectg2I3a2Mw.html
@@xIExile youre not seriously saying that the live performance doesnt matter? XD I know, that he cupped the mic in the studio. Same as Duncan Bentley or Mitch. But Jason and Duncan can do that sound live without cupping. Not as extreme but they get the tone. And id love to know how to get that tone. So id appreciate a breakdown of their vox.
I’m not a vocalist at all. Never even tried to sing once in my life but I’m a huge fan of the music and it amazes me watching your videos and listening to how you understand exactly how everything is done. It’s fascinating.
Awesome reaction! Would love to see you react to Behold the Kingdom of the Wretched Undying by Infant Annihilator there's a ton of different vocal styles much like Lowlife Deadweight.
I'm not a vocalist by any means but man I love how you break down everything that's going on being a very talented vocalist yourself. It's amazing how many small details go into someone's overall sound and with a monster like Ben there's just so much, I love these videos
Have you ever heard of 'Xanthochroid'? It's a Melodic/Progressive Black Metal band that blows my mind everytime I listen to their album 'Of Erthe and Axen' (especially the Act 1)! They frequently switch between clear vocals and saturated vocals, so I thought maybe it could be a pretty cool reaction video
@@idrownedinapuddleI still hope that with the new For Likes of You stuff Austin is doing with the band, will stay like Forlorn and Rot with Me. I wish that Jared would do more side projects or another full band. I like his old stuff with Dissimulator and what he did with his Dark EP. Jared's vocals are on point too.
I really like how he was able to explain exactly what he was doing and break it down. My wife was trying to learn how to growl a few weeks ago so she asked me for tips. I was unable to break it down for her because I have been doing extreme vocals for so long it just comes naturally to me. After 30 years I just do it automatically. I think of the sound I want to create and just vocalize. I was much help to her. I love how simple and methodical he was able to tell exactly what techniques were being used in simple way.
The weird snakelike highs ( 1:40 of music video) sound exactly like Shagrath’s in Dimmu Borgir’s 2000s stuff (esp. PEM). Shagrath used some effects to get this tone, idk about this vocalist!
You're such an awesome dude, your videos are something I look forward to everyday. Maybe do some Destrage? I have no idea what the vocals are doing 50% of the time.
Much informative and you are very good! One thing that I'd like to request is that your videos volume are very quiet, please make the upcoming videos louder. You are the best!
Hi Mark, you should go into some of Anaal Nathrakh's stuff. "Hold Your Children Close and Pray for Oblivion" seems like a song that has a lot of different vocal elements that I believe haven't been discussed on the channel before.
Hi! if i may suggest somethig different ( don't know if it had been suggested or have you heard anything like them before) is Imperial Circus Dead Decedance-Fushoku Ressentiment, Fushi Yoku no Sarugakuza. as you might have guessed from the title these guys are japanese. Hope you have a good time with them :D
Please do a reaction of - signs of the swarm- cesspool of ignorance the vocals are definitely worth talking about. I know you’ve done one of their songs but this one is crazier.
Even though they're more a of a metalcore band, I think you should check out Marcus Bridge of Northlane. Their song Talking Heads has a lot of different vocal styles and on a musical level, they're just insane
I would love to see you break down Dan Weyandt’s vocals for Zao. Specifically something like their song “The Weeping Vessel”. I love his sound and haven’t heard many people sound like him.
You should react to Imminence- Infectious!!! You asked in a previous video what singers really impress you, the lead singer for Imminence is definitely one!
Diana Ankudinova is an amazing young singer with a low voice (contralto), which is the rarest for a 17-year-old girl! Millions of RU-vid views and rave reviews!
never commented on your video but watch all of them 🤣 would be cool to see your opinion on the band ingested.. there older stuff is dope, they just released a new album.. unique vocals IMO
Please talk about old Scar Symmetry with Christian Alvestad like The Illusionist. He is one of the clearest sounding vocalists who has an amazing singing voice too. Some of the best gutturals ever!
Would love to see a reaction to Crystal Lake - Aeon. Ryo is an insane vocalist. Anything from Crystal Lake really. Apollo, Into The Great Beyond, or Ryo's feature on Coldrain's "Mayday".
Any DSLR with at least 20-24mp censor should be fine! Its the lens that really makes the video crispy. Sony A7S III, Nikon D780, Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera. Those may be overkill but do 4k video
I'd love to see Chelsea Grin - Bleeding Sun reviewed on this channel. There's so much going on in that song vocally that it would be interesting to see your take on it.
