Ukrainians do not want war all we want is peace. I am a Ukrainian and I really liked your song but seeing your past actions and your current comments make me glad you withdrew You lied, you did go to occupied Crimea through the russian border in 2015 and you went to Moscow in 2017 instead of growing from your past actions and apologizing, you continue to disrespect the thousands of Ukrainians who died in this war fighting to protect you and me

It's such a beautiful song and the spoken poetry aspect was magnificent. Would have loved to see it at Eurovision stage, something very much different. Very unfortunate that in the midst of this tension instead of unity there has been a surge of witch hunting and division in the country which is definitely not causing wounds to heal but instead opening them wider. Best wishes to your career and hopefully your message resonates for peace. 🇺🇦💙💛

@@ErikDaVinci She was just proactive. She withdrew because she knew she would be disqualified. Her team member committed a crime - in order for her to participate in the contest, they forged documents, because she couldn't meet the contest requirements. She claims she didn't know about it, but her team member says they acted on a direct order from her. It was not a fair play and such a person cannot represent our country. Shame on her!!!

I am italian and I am very disappointed she is not going to perform in Eurovision 22 in Torino... Strong and beautiful unique voice .... strong message and i like the starting and final vocals that recall animals and mother Nature ... can't stop listen to..... sono dispiaciuto... she has a chance to win. YEES finally, I couldn't wait for your reaction to the live performance 🤩 I LOVE IT SO MUCH ❤❤ So glad she won! ❤ LOVE the traditional instruments, native language and other ethnic elements, the dark epic performance, the deep lyrics, the emotions that she gave us... everything ❤ My Slavic heart just melts ❤ I cannot even think about what's going on now... 😭💔 It hurts a lot... I am sooo.... pissed off. Alina was my favourite this year, she would probably remain on my 1st place until May and her song would even be among my favourite Eurovision songs ever... Don't know wheather it's a saddnes or an anger that I feel more the whole day. I wanna cry and curse at the same time 😡😡😭😭💔💔

I love the song's message about how we have to honor our ancestors who fought in war for freedom. She is singing about how it is growing up when war's going on. When she says that other girls played with toy dolls and the only toy she had was a book of Shakespeare, it really hits a sad note in my heart. It's heartbreaking what Ukraine has to go through.

As someone who does love stefania as a song I still think it's an absolute shame this song was disqualified. I don't know why it was so I can't say. This song is truly a masterpiece that would've easily won had it participated.

she visited occupied Crimea by plane from Russia (which is illegal) and then lied that she got to Crimea through a land crossing point from Ukraine. and this is after 2014

I think it so sad she have withdrawn from participating in ESC and the negativity against her in Ukraine that led up to it. It made me fell a tear seeing you unknowingly react to this song and cherish it as a great contender this year. 😭😢 The news have only been out for about 24 hours, so it was easy to miss.

I read on the BBC news yesterday that Alina won’t be representing Ukraine at Eurovision any more because of a 2015 trip she made to Crimea! 😔

It wasn't the trip itself that made her withdraw but the fact that one of her team forged documents proving that she hadn't visited illegally and the abuse she was getting online from people saying that she's not Ukrainian

I went there for the wedding… It’s so stupid and wrong situation. But I cannot prove it, because of information from the Border service of Ukraine, the info can be in archives only for 5 years. My trip was 7 years ago… 😭

I loved seeing this reaction. I didn't quite like the studio version of this song because of the spoken word part but it was so much better live, which I had not expected at all, so it's sad she won't be able to go to Eurovision. Her successors have an incredible song as well though, called Stefania. Please do react to that one! I can't wait to see them live in May!

She has strong voice and definitely it’s different type of songs. Eurovision suppose to be about representing different cultures, not everyone being Britney Spears copy, and she did introduce us to Eastern Slavic national heritage. However, it seems like that Ukrainians do not know what they want. Disqualifying singer just because she travelled somewhere is ridiculous. She did not commit any war atrocities neither she is criminal so this is just unfair. It’s 🇺🇦’s loss. It’s sad that foreign countries can make one government go against its own singer. Maybe she competes in years to come.

I would have to look at the words in more detail but it reminds me of the last Ukrainian winner. Eurovision was born out of uniting spirit and it is like our new family from the East are still hurting over their past. Let Eurovision be the crazy cheesy show we came to love. The political message can be the playground of mainstream pop culture. But I did like the ethnicity of the voices used and costume etc.

'Vidbir' winner Alina Pash will not go to Eurovision 🇺🇦 Ukrainian broadcaster UA:PBC has confirmed that 'Vidbir' 2022 winner Alina Pash will not represent Ukraine at the 66th Eurovision Song Contest in Turin. They did the same mistake with their artist Maruv in 2019. On Saturday 12 February, Ukraine held its annual Vidbir song contest. The TV show has, since 2016, served as the country’s pre-selection process for choosing its entry to the Eurovision Song Contest. Amongst a field of 8 competitors on Saturday night, Alina Pash won Vidbir 2022 with the song Тіні забутих предків' ('Shadows of Forgotten Ancestors). Ukrainian broadcaster UA:PBC has since confirmed that Alina Pash will not represent Ukraine at the 2022 Eurovision Song Contest. On Wednesday afternoon, in a mutual agreement between the broadcaster, the organising committee of Vidbir and the artist, it was decided that Alina’s participation in the Contest would not go ahead. According to the Vidbir rules, UA:PBC can decide on the representative of Ukraine at the 2022 Eurovision Song Contest, from the field of other finalists that participated in the national selection process on Saturday night.

Alina Pash will not participate in Eurovision. She was forced to refuse. Ukrainian television pursues Pash. She was accused of visiting the occupied territory of Ukraine. What does this have to do with music competition? This is the persecution of the singer for political reasons.

While I sympathize with Ukrainian people I feel like the ultra-nationalistic stances of some are actually causing more harm than good. Nevermore causing ethnic Russian minorities in some of these rebel states to become even more isolated and angry. And definitely witching hunt artists will led to poorer quality of music and a very big miss chance of sharing an important message at times like these.

There's no proof she herself broke the law as the documents got deleted due to privacy laws. It was a member of her team who broke the law by forging the documents. Alina also withdrew bc she was getting abused online by people saying that she's un-Ukrainian

I think Alina would have won the jury vote, and combine that with the extra pity votes from the jury and the pity votes from the televote, she would've probably won with 900+ points and even without the Ukranian war would've been a favourite to win. Kalush on the other hand.... I think without the war would've probably been barley top 10 rather than 1st.
