She is Dutch and her language is Dutch, She now speaks English fluently but there will always be the accent, as all foreign language to ours. She's still only 15, and singing crossover songs are always hard if you're an opera singer, as you know. This is excellent knowing her background....

Hello Jennifer, can you please do a video on Amira Willighagen's Ave Maria, there are many versions sung by her, Gounod, Gomez, Vavilov and Caccini, they are all great, but my favorite are Lecce (Italy), Gounod (Reykjavík, Iceland) and Gomez (Canisius Church, Nijmegen)

If you look up Broadway musical in the dictionary, they'd have a picture of The Sound Of Music. I grew up in the sixties and this music was so much more popular then it is today. Also loved West Side Story.

Forgot to mention that when you were talking about Roger & Hammerstein / sound of Music / Julie Andrews , you gave me the impression that Julie Andrews was singing in the same Soprano range. If you listen to Julie Andrews, I’m sure you’ll agree that in comparison, Amira is an octave above what Julie is singing. Anyway, not important, but I thought I’d let you know. Cheers, Graeme

When Amira sings in English we need to bear in mind that, to her, English is a foreign language. I don't think you've played Nessun Dorma (CIG 2017) yet. It is one of her best in my opinion.

They say she’s singing it an octave higher. Is she actually singing THE SOUND OF MUSIC title song higher than Julie Andrews? The next song is sung by her husband in the show, the third by a nun; so of course she’s higher.

@@JenniferGlatzhofer Here is a performance by Amira at the age of 13. It's from the same concert where she performed Amazing Grace. She performs Nessun Dorma. She shocked everyone with this performance. @@luigimanzoni2705 Totally agree with your selections. However in the 2017 concert first she did Nessun Dorma, then The Flower Duet, and later in the show was Amazing Grace. Plus lets not forget The My Way with all the performers at the end.

And plus plus, let's not forget the 2017 Christmas performances at Netherlands: Mens's Choir of Weert, the MAX Proms in the Jaarbeus Utrecht (she sang O Mio Babbino Caro and Your Love: masterpieces) and the Royal Nijmegen Men's Choir in Sint Stevenskerk (she sang Panis Angelicus; Dormi, Fili; Ons Vader; See Amid The Winter's Snow; How Great Thou Art; Jerusalem) broadcasted by Omroep Gelderland.

I heard this story to my grandmother long time ago. It is played by Julie Andrews, from what I remember, it is based on a true story of a family musicians during world war 2.

Could be interesting. Sohyang sings exactly as a trained musical singer do and this reactor who herself is trained in musical can understand and therefore will appreciate. Sohoyang voice is pretty but nothing that you exactly remember as something different from other trained musical singers. Would be interesting to ask this reactor to replicate Sohyang which I'm confident, after listening to her own voice, quite easily can do. After that we can ask her to replicate Amira, how do you think that will work out, success or failure?.
