Taylor Louderman! This is a medley of the roles she’s done and shows off everything she can do pretty well! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-3ED5AjieawE.html
Carrie hope fletcher had an added hard belty song, and during heathers was in rehearsals for another show and immediately went into it with no vocal problems.
@@lydikiti I'm pretty sure they lowered the key for a lot of the songs tho. But if some elphabas can finish their runs without vocal damage then veronica should def be possible
@@lydikiti yeah, but aside of lowering the songs a bit, carrie didn't sing in her riffs that high as barrett. Foe example on beautiful :) Sorry i am not a native english speaker.
@@samehere1733 Here's the thing though: Every vocalist is different. Different range, different experience, different songs that require different specialties of one's voice lol. If Barrett did Elphaba, then I understand that. But even then, your voice has to get tired after belting for so long, even if it was healthy.
her title is a little misleading but the specific video she was reacting to was a before and after heathers video, so naturally there wouldn't be any heathers performances in it.
I really wanna hear Barrett do more subtle stuff in shows because her soft voice is so nice to listen to! But I think because she did so many crazy stuff in Heathers, that might be what she gets cast for?? Idk I have no idea how casting works but I'd love to see her in a role with softer songs
Hi! I don’t know if she has done any musicals where she sings softly but I do know a cover of a song she did. It’s called I push up my glasses and she sings pretty softly if ur interested in hearing it
yeah i got the impression that she was cast in mean girls cause janis was supposed to be shouty. the character (and thus the style of singing) is supposed to be a bit rough a round the edges
Dude hearing her live in mean girls sounded so different than these videos do, I don't think the videos do her any justice because she sounds STUNNING when you're in the theater
The reason people compare her vocals is because Veronica is possibly one of the most exhaustive roles vocally out there. It is 100% belting, and the songs are vocally extremely intense. There’s a G#5 at the end of the opening number along with an intense set of riffs that would destroy anyone’s chords if they do it for 8 times a week for a months. A lot of people say she damaged her vocal chords. It’s important to note that it’s been years since she’s done Heathers and it’s not unnatural for a voice to sound different over time, especially being a full time performer.
Please remember. In heathers almost every song barrett is in, she is belting. Imagine doing the notes she said like 7-8 times a week. And Barrett originally had a shouty voice. Heather's damaged her voice badly. its a miracle she can still hit those notes. I think if she takes a break from Broadway and really focus on making her belts healthy she could play elphaba. But she needs to make a break for atleast a year and a half and focus on making her belts more healthy. She really is talented and I hate to she her voice get more damaged.
Please do a reaction to either Aimie Atkinson or Sam Pauly's "All You Wanna Do" from SIX!! I only just discovered your channel a while ago and I love your videos and reactions :) Thank you for making them!
You should react to Presley Ryan at Broadway Under The Stars singing Dead Mom and maybe compare her to Sophia and talk about what they did differently.
I think her voice got a little damaged, because when she belts, it does sound shouty. When she sings “I’d rather be me” at the last belt it was very shouty. But I don’t think it’s her fault. This is my opinion, don’t attack me..
Hannah Bayles I personally think I live Q and A on RU-vid would be great for people who don’t have another platform. Maybe people could do all caps for their questions so you can easily tell questions from comments? Just a suggestion, love your videos!!!
Specifically can you help teach how to strengthen in head voice? Mine is super breathy, quiet and I think it’s a support problem but I’m not really sure.
Barrett has an amazing voice. The timbre of her voice, he runs, she can belt. She literally has all the tools, she just consistently pushed the extremes of her voice and that what is scary because you can tell when she pushing a lot and then she gets a little flat and starts to get a little screamy. All that to say I think she’s still an insanely amazing singer and beautiful actress.
6:45 this is the song "over the moon" from rent. it's supposed to sound kind of campy and amateur, however it takes some SERIOUS singing and acting chops to pull off. this role was originally played by idina menzel, if you needed any context for the type of talent it takes.
Her voice is so distinct I’ve been a big fan of heathers and she was amazing as one of the main characters. And once I finally moved on to the mean girls musical I went in completely blind, without knowing who any of the actors were. But the moment I heard “Janis” I immediately knew who was speaking/singing. Her voice is just so recognizable and I love that.
I'm a legit singer and I wanna learn to belt so bad!! You explain it really well in this video, but it would be so awesome if you made a video with exercises on how to find that balance and how to do the "lifted" belt you talk about. You have such a lovely voice!
She has a video about learning to mix/balance your voice while belting! I don't think she mentions lifting your belts in that one, but I definitely recommend checking it out!!
Phillipa's technique in general sounds great to me, but I don't know if its healthy/sounds good to a vocal coach. That probably my favorite performance ever of her though, she's so talented and its such a great song.
Barrett Wilbert Weed is absolutely amazing! She has a way of telling the story and how the character is feeling through the notes. You hear the sassy and the anger and the happy!! Love her!
her voice is so pretty when she’s singing super quietly too. there’s a vlog with erika henningsen from mean girls called too grool for school that shows backstage stuff, and in episode 9 i think she does a cut line from revenge party. she’s singing quietly but its GORGEOUS.
This video shows a lot of her belting but if you want to see more of her head voice there are some videos of a group of people including her covering some Taylor swift at 54 below I think? Also I love these videos 💖
that clip with no context is "over the moon" from rent when she was in college, it hardly makes sense in the show (let alone by itself) but it really does take a lot of talent to sing it. loved this video! edit: also, this is random but could you also check out everyone from legally blonde, maybe just listen to a few songs? especially kate shindle in the song "legally blonde" and laura bell bundy in "so much better?" thanks if you consider!
And Barrett has a TMJ disorder where her jaw constantly dislocates, so she's always on pain meds. I can't believe she succeeded in a field where her disorder is so impactful.
i think her distinct style comes from her “shoutiness.” i think that has brought her so much success and recognition. it’s unfortunate bc it sounds like it is giving her vocal damage & like it may sometimes hurt :// i feel the same sort of thing happened with idina menzel
I saw her live in Mean Girls on Broadway in April 2019. I'm no expert at all, but one thing I did notice was that during the performance, her singing voice definitely was brighter than it usually is, and I think the brighter sound benefits her because she was less flat and pushed less.
I love Barrett I really don’t know why everybody comes for her and her technique everyone has off performances sometimes I truly think she’s an amazing singer! I loved this video!!
barrett is AMAZING with her higher belts and low chest notes. i think heathers sort of gave her the name of a ‘belter’ so she is usually given songs that sit really awkwardly in the first passage. for example, ‘id rather be me’ isn’t necessarily a hard song to sing, but the near constant c5 belts make it So Awkward and tiring. her higher belts are so stunning though!
To be fair heathers is destroying to vocal chords and the fact that she gave her all its basically impossible for her vocal chords to completely recover she's still amazing tho and I Think mean girls is her best in quite a while
I was having a problem with excessive vocal weight while recording in the studio today. The vowel modification tips were exactly what I needed to hear! Thank you so much, I'm 100% subscribing now!
please please PLEASE react to Aimie Atkinson's "All You Wanna Do" from SIX the musical. I love Aimie, and she is one of my idols. To see you react to her would be so cool!!
I hope you do a Part 2 for Barrett. I just wanna see you react to “I Push Up My Glasses” because it’s so different from the sound (style?) we’re often used to hearing from her.
This morning I was thinking "I hope Hannah reacts to Barrett sometime" and HERE IT IS. You remind me so much of my voice teacher my first year of college--which is very much a compliment! Love your work, positive attitude, and vivaciousness!
she isn't musical theatre but could you react to charlotte cardin maybe? maybe her 'double shifts' performance on CBC music :) she's a gorgeous vocalist w a really lovely tone
Oh this is so weird, I haven't heard her sing since high school. She sounds almost exactly the same from what I can remember. Glad to see her doing so well!
more more musical theatre! i love these kinds of videos. you should do some subscriber interactions like watching their videos and helping or giving recommendations to songs that fit their voice type!
This is absolutely amazing. I have sung since before I could walk, but this is exactly my problem. All of these advices are also EXACTLY what I needed!! Thank you!!!
do you have any tips for starting singing? i’ve been obsessed with musicals for so long but sound like a dying donkey since i have no idea what i’m doing. can’t really start singing lessons cuz of the whole quarantine thing and i was too scared to ask to start before quarantine
Disclaimer: I'm not a professional. Try to get voice lessons whenever you can. Correct me if I'm wrong with any tips and add new things to this reply section 💗 -warm-up before you sing -sing everyday for a little bit (20min to an hour I'm assuming) as you start out. Hours might wear you out -singing should feel easy on your throat so don't push yourself too much. Try new things though. -continuing, if you feel pain you are doing something wrong and should try something different. -a sore throat means you sang with improper technique/sang too much. -have good posture -don't think of singing coming from your throat. Picture it as if it is coming from good abdominal support and breath support. -when singing, think of each note as the same. Don't try to reach for any note that would possibly lead to pushing your voice past its limit -practice singing somewhere quiet or not too loud. Driving isn't always a great spot because you are going against literal traffic. -if you can't find a good place to sing that won't annoy others, try a garage or communicate with the other people and find a compromise. -always sing with something to base off of (ex. A piano or a sound track, etc)
Please! React Son Seung-Yeon "Love Affair" she is a really stunning Korean singer, a really good belter, she sings flawless! Please, not a lot of people react to her, but it's totally worth it!!!!
Still to this day, after all of these years, it breaks my heart that heathers mainly caused the strain in her voice, she is such a beautiful singer it crazy.
I did the shout thing for years and when I got my vocal teacher (Kevin Jones) we fixed that and we found my mixed voice for an audition. It’s feels and sounds so much better.
