@@TheFairyVoiceMother You mentioned at the end of you video that musical theater and opera singers have a harder time with these techniques. Haley's colleague at PMJ, Ms. Morgan James, does both styles (classically trained at Juilliard). She has her own great PMJ cover of "Dream On" by Aerosmith that would be an excellent one for you to analyze.

Haley was my favorite idol contestant ever , she has an amazing range . She’s able to crescendo and belt so loud without losing vocal pitch/tone, but distorts when she wants to . I highly recommend watching her idol performance of Bennie and the jets .

Haley should have won, but you could tell the judges really didn't want her to throughout the season. Probably because they wanted to push a generic country star that they could exploit

Damn I appreciate these videos! I've listened to jazz singers since I was a teenager, and today was the first time I realised that the reason the vibrato sounds different because it's covering a wider range of frequency. I've gone decades without learning that! Thank you so much for explaining it!

Fairy voice mother. Your videos are the best. Not only can you point out EXACTLY what is going on technically and know the proper terms for them but unlike the vast majority of youtube "vocal coaches" you can ACTUALLY sing. And do polyphonic overtones, and death growl... it's insane! I think I can collectively speak for everyone when I say please post a video of you singing a song!

Scott is just a musical genius! Though you rarely will hear him speak, let alone sing, he understands vocalists better than anyone in his generation. He deserves to be rated on the Quincy Jones, Mutt Lange, Dorsey Brothers, Duke Ellington kinda level for his arranging, producing and even playing to the vocalists he works with. Every song is a masterpiece.

Haley is from the Chicago area a bit north of where I grew up. Her parents are from Chicago proper. Years ago, before I knew anything about her, I saw videos of her performing in Chicago joints. I thought this girl will go somewhere. Happy to see her success.

This is a great performance, showcasing a wide variety of techniques that were reproduced perfectly. Kudos, Lolli! Haley was pretty good, too. I just stumbled upon the most emotional jazz vocal I've heard in many a year. The audience sat, and in one case stood, mesmerized as Shoshana Bean bared her very soul on stage live at The Theatre At Ace Hotel, singing Make It Rain. It's a tour de force. They hadn't even planned to record this. They used a day off while on tour to record some other songs. This version was originally done for another singer but Haley had fallen in love with it and done a great job with it on stage the night before so Scott asked her if she wanted to record it. She was hesitant because her voice was a bit tired from the tour but agreed to do a single take. And that take was all it took!

Everytime I think I've heard enough reactions to this song I always enjoy another one. Can never go wrong reacting to Scott Bradley PMJ. The most interesting vocal talent is drawn to these time traveling covers. Haley is standout for bringing such a distinct toolbox of vocal techniques but not even alone in that.

It's just cleared 100 million views. Usual informative reaction reaching parts other reactors don't. She can scat, yodel, whistle and do a very good impression of a trumpet (see Steamroller Blues). I particularly enjoy hearing her in a duet (Dear Prudence with Morgan James) (Mad World with Puddles Pity Party) or most jazzy improv songs with Casey Abrams ( also off of American Idol...a musical genius in his own right).

This is a spectacular reaction video and analsys of Haley Reinhart's amazing vocal control. Thanks for doing it very much. Haley Reinhart, (pronounced "Rhineheart"), is easily the best vocalist that has ever performed with PMJ. As all her music videos have by far the most views relative to everybody else. That cover of "Creep" you just reacted to is not only the first PMJ music video to reach over 100 million views, but it also stayed on the Billboard Digital Jazz Chart for 58 straight weeks. Some other outstanding PMJ/Haley Reinhart covers you may want to react to are "Seven Nation Army", "Oops, I Did It Again", and "Don't Speak". All of them will literally blow you and your subscribers away every bit as much as her "Creep" cover you just reacted to. As Haley is truly an amazing vocalist.

Haley has been my favorite singer since American Idol 10 years ago and has been quite successful since. The best voice on the planet. Not only her vocal skills but knowing how to arrange it her way and don't forget her incredible stage presence! She grew up with music as her parents have been musicians performing in Chicago for years. Haley has a jazz background and loves 60's music. Her latest release is No Doubt's "Don't Speak" in a return with PMJ after a 6 year absence. Haley has many great originals as well. I loved your reaction to Angelina Jordan's Bohemian Rhapsody and have it saved. Angelina and Haley are two of the most professional and underrated artists and should be up there with the best. LOVED, LOVED,LOVED this reaction and analysis and btw, you, FVM should be at the top of the reaction world!! This was so much FUN! Thank you!

Although a world-class vocalist, I disagree that Haley has been quite successful since her debut on American Idol. To the contrary her career has remained very stagnant and it is because she runs her own career, unlike virtually all successful music artists in the world today. Her problem is she is not a trained professional business manager. In fact, she has no clue what she is doing. Had Haley had a professional business manager running her career for her since her days on American Idol, Haley Reinhart would be a worldwide mega star today.

I get the feeling Haley is quite comfortable doing her style of music and wants control of her own music and not be dictated to by a corporate conglomerate. She performs what she wants and when she wants. She has a huge fan base and has earned a few million. I would call that success. I do agree that had she gone the way you expressed she would be a mega star.......but would she be happy? Success to many is happiness.

I was browsing through voice coaches reaction videos so they'd tell me why I shouldn't be obsessed with this performance or at least reassure me that it's fine. And I find this gem. Here's why this performance is so incredible by Haley. When she was asked to do this by Scott Bradley she said no at first, cuz she wasn't feeling good her throat was tired from singing all week on tour. She did it sick and they shot the video in one take that's how freaking talented and special she is.

1:31 first shiver aaaaand 3:40 is about when the gay panic started to fully set in and I knew I was going to LOVE this reaction! 😅 (I don't know what your orientation was before Haley, but no one stays completely straight by the time she gets to the first chorus!) Absolutely transcendent performance… I’ve heard it more than a dozen times, and it still brings me to tears: -the vocal technique -the lyrics hitting close to home -the stylistic choice of black-and-white If there were some kind of digital legacy recordings compilation that could outlast the human race (beyond the Library of Congress, like perhaps an underground bunker or something), this should be among them.

I was a fan of Haley Reinhart on her season, but I haven’t kept up with her much since a couple years after the show was over. But I do remember learning that she was a singer long before she got on that competition. She had been singing jazz for years prior to that, so yes she does know how to scat! 😊

You have a gift yourself for breaking down and explaining Haley’s voice techniques so well in this song. (So many fail in this respect) For me also is her performance which is not just beautiful to watch, it’s utterly mesmerising. She has an incredible stage presence which even if her voice was half the amazing skill that it is, it would still be amazing to watch. Extremely well edited BTW!

All your brilliance aside and all of the analytic knowledge greatly appreciated, what struck me the most is how much you seem to genuinely enjoy that song. Often times i feel the deeper the knowledge, the more it seems to dull many peoples capability to enjoy... art, music, beauty. - i don't know how to put it otherwise, somewhat like a physician looking at a body. While still capable to appreciate it, not able to shiver, love and adore anymore. You seem to still have a deep well full of that particular ability!

Just started watching your videos today and you are an absolute joy to watch! I love that you have a great sense of humor and I've learned so much about vocals through your videos. If I may, I'd love to see you do a reaction to Faouzia's Tears of Gold stripped version or anything really. She has a beautiful tone and can hit those high and low notes, she's amazing.
