After winning a competition in Moscow, Diana's mother was offered to leave the girl in a boarding school for gifted children. Diana took part and won. These performances were broadcast nationwide, uploaded to RU-vid and made Diana known worldwide. She now has many millions of fans around the world. The final of the international singing competition for children 'You are Super' took place in the Kremlin Palace. The winner of the season will be determined by a 6-day public vote. Diana won a scholarship to the music college. Igor Krutoy gifted her a small apartment in Moscow so that she could begin her vocal training with the best teachers in Moscow such as Professor Olga Donskoy (she died of Covid-19 in October 2020). It is a Russian folksong about a young betrothed orphan girl who goes to the river, the boundary between the living and the dead, to ask her mother's blessing for her marriage. Ironically, Diana herself was an orphan who was abused and abandoned by her alcoholic mother. Because of this beginning her speech was very undeveloped and she was given singing lessons to help improve her speech. Her talents was quickly recognized and the rest is history.

I think that "weird" quality is actually just her natural voice. Like you, I was also floored when I first heard her sing (still am. Lol), so I searched for clips of her talking. More times than not, that "odd resonance" comes out when she speaks louder, is a bit excited, what have you... I'm not a voice teacher, but I have had tons of training, have sung professionally for many years - and I have never heard anyone like her, either. She's completely awesome, and I can't wait to see how much she progresses vocally into adulthood.

She does a lot of flip in her songs. She is a good yodeler also, which allows her to do some things others can't....as stated a rare true contralto.

I've seen some vocal teachers say she sings in dual frequencies. H of the stage breaks it down pretty well. Whatever the deal, she has a one of a kind voice. This isn't even her most amazing song. :) She has an original single coming out this month and a new original album coming out in May. Diana is in her first year of a performing arts school in Russia and turns 18 years old in May as well. She is 15 years old here despite the numerous people saying she is 14. Now she was on this show at 14, won it and was invited back for a Grand Prix and won it also (She sang Blizzard, Wicked Game, and Human).

Her range starts from C3 without fry (it was a year ago, now rumors say it is even lower, as her larynx is still growing ))) up to D6 or higher, as she still works on the range. Many reacting voice teachers say that her timbre comes from the natural ability to place the larynx unusually low, and the lowest notes of hers sound even much lower. Diana was " mute" do to severe abuse that she took from her alcoholic mother.... At age 4-5(? please don't quote me on her age) girl was adapted by loving family. Her parents found a great speech therapist. Singing was a part of therapy for she could become able to have control over her voice. Post traumatic stress disorder caused Diana become a mute... But I think her extraordinary and magnificently unique timbre is due to several factors that in combination at least are pretty much unprecedented: huge resonance chambers - larynx, pharynx and mouth - that are extremely flexible (in particular larynx downwards, larynx and pharynx outwards, palette upwards), the sound production of which is nuanced by relatively standard variation in tongue position (to the back) and placement. In the last few years she has been working very intensively on her upper register, and to very remarkable effect. She is now equally comfortable singing soprano roles (even operatic soprano), as was evident even in her iconic and epic"Can't Help Falling in Love" in 2021 ShowMasGoOn, when she was 18, and is very striking in her recent duet "The Day You" with Brandon Stone in a concert last new year, where she belts D6. Both videos are posted on her channel. Although she is still only 20, I think you would be very surprised by her personal and artistic development. She is incredibly mature, and while she remains very down to earth and humble, she is more or less royalty in Russia now!

Hi from France Great reaction! Your astonishment is not exceptional! Diana uses many vocal techniques little used in pop music (like overtones, yodel, and some from classic singing or opera). The one that seems to amaze you the most is the polyphonic voice. The root notes are enriched with powerful harmonics which can give the impression that there are several overlapping voices or an artificial effect which gives this result. This technique is used in Slavic folk music, like Bulgarian vocal groups or artists like Pelageya, the Russian folk diva. I cannot tell you exactly how these artists achieve this result, I was just told that it is linked to the simultaneous use of the different resonators of the human body and that such a mastery of the voice and of the breath with such a fluidity requires years of work, Diana has been singing on stage and has been taking singing and performing arts lessons since the age of 6! Diana is dramatic contralto. Interestingly Eastern European women can have lower speaking voices. I guess when she compressed her larynx down she creates it and controls her level without much trouble.

Because Diana is a true contralto, she is able to express a very warm, full, and powerful falsetto in the higher range. Sometimes she also drops her vocal chords to get a slightly different tone. Diana is also great at yodeling, which is how she ends some phrases by jumping to the high register. It is great to see you reacting to Diana! I had a feeling that you would really enjoy her, based on your reaction to Dimash. (Not that they are the same, but on how much you appreciated what he was doing in Sinful Passion.) All of her performances on this show for children from unfortunate circumstances (orphaned, etc.) are fantastic. This was from the 2nd season where she appeared on their "Super Season" for winners from past seasons. She was 15 here. Her first season, the year before, she has some incredible performances as well. She won both seasons. The bald gentleman who buzzed in last, Igor Krutoy, is the creator (maybe just one of?) of this show, You Are Super - a well-known composer from Russia. (If you watch Dimash, you will notice him in lots of his videos. He has composed several songs for Dimash to take advantage of what he is capable of.) He bought an apartment for Diana and her mother in Moscow, so that Diana could study at a music school there and helped her get into a university which seems to be pretty much the equivalent of Julliard here in the US. Be aware that NTB, the network this show is on sometimes blocks videos. If you find this to be the case, a strategy I have seen many reactors use is to make the video almost transparent - it often allows the uploading with that. The required degree of transparency does vary, it seems. Sometimes reversing the image or zooming in is successful.

Diana is a dramatic contralto the absolute rarest type of female voice. She is also polyphonic which means she can produce multiple harmonics within her voice at one time making her sound like two people at once. It's not artificial it comes directly from her. I mean she doesn't need electronic Auto-Tune, she is her own Auto-Tune hence comes the feeling like she is singing thru you as it resonates. She voice on some of her songs is shamanic. Lovely woman.

This girls vocal prowess is amazing. Just the way she raises, drops and squeezes her larynx. The way she opens her throat to let the air out and how she positions her tongue in the back of her throat. The choices she makes are genius and at such a young age. She does this so effortlessly and it is just mind blowing. What a talent!!

This girl has one more unique feature: always, in all songs and no matter how many times you listen, even a thousand, like me, her voice causes the appearance of "goosebumps"!
