Your vocal coach Ann Souren reacts to DIMASH - SINFUL PASSION! This video is a reaction and Vocal Analysis to DIMASH performing "Sinful Passion". IT's always interesting to see how real vocal coach reacts to your favorite singers. It's not my first time making a reaction video to Dimash, but as always, I'm blown away. In this video, I'm breaking down the song, and highlighting some important vocal elements. DIMASH is simply AMAZING!!! Out of this world! Hands down - the best out there! THis song is so beautiful and he really touched my soul with his voice. I got a little emotional... His fans showered him wish so much love, cute posters and flowers!!! Dimash's voice and technique is out of this world. This video is entertaining and educational at the same time.

Someone mentioned that ululation is done like a funeral dirge in Kazakhstan. Dimash supposedly added it to the song in honor of the lead singer of the band A Studio whose song he was singing. He passed away some time ago.

This is not quite true although a common story. Not sure how it started. According to his coach it is simply a traditional style. In this case not Kazakh but more Uzbek/Turjic.

I would love you to react to 2 versions of the same song called "Know." First the version with lyrics at the VTB Arena Ice Palace in Moscow. The second is a "Vocalise" version (No lyrics) which is completely improvised from his Arnau 2020 concert. I think that these performances will prove beyond any doubt that Dimash Kudaibergen is the best singer/performer of all time. 😃🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿👍

Thank you for your reaction. I find it amazing that Dimash is redefining the "norms" of music, in what it is to sing as a man or a woman. So creative! He's truly a Master of voice. I love his songs in his native Kazakh language, as they seem to have a more personal significance to him.

The "yodel-like" vocal technique is often called "throat- singing" in Kazakh, Tibetan, and other folk cultures. Dimash was raised learning this folk music as well as being trained in classical and contemporary voice techniques.
@JustMyOpinion1010
@JustMyOpinion1010 3 года назад
It is actually not throat singing. According to his coach it is a traditional style more from Uzbekistan / Turjikistan (not Kazakh either). He also said that Dimash learned this specific technique by himself. I would guess he heard it and decided, like most things, that he needed to master this too 😉

What he did there is called MUGHAM.It's a larynx tuning technic which is native in Azerbaijan and Iran.Check for Alim Qasimov,Sekine Ismailova and Homayoun Shajarian for the great masteries! Both country use "Mugham" by changing position in slight ways and they are tastefull! His cultural knowledge on music is amazing! Knowing the culture is something but implementing in a song in a foreign language is totally need beyond mastery!He works with great people back in there,behind the stage!Dimash is walking talking vocal text book;I don't need to mention his stage talent!

That ethnic “wailing” is used at funerals in the Middle East, and Dimash added it to honor the original member of the band/singer of this peace because he had been killed (Iin an auto accident). It's a etnic style with very large vibrato and voice reverb and echo.

Really love your response, thank you. Love the education that you add to the experience. Monseuier Hyde is an interesting song that doesn't get the coverage it deserves......He admired Igor Krutoy and Lara Fabian as a schoolboy, and longed to perform with Krutoy backing him. Listening to her do Madmoiselle Hyde, and him doing Monsieur Hyde, both with Krutoy backing.... fascinating! (Krutoy came out of retirement to work with and write for Dimash. His song, "Your Love" was composed by Krutoy, with lyrics by Fabian, and premiered this year at a March Dimash concert in Russia... I think it was the Kremlin concert. So many threads packed into that! It's another fascinating choice....

Hi, the ethnic sound he used is a "trill" in italian "nota ribattuta" used also in a few operatic parts, then the one breath section (almost 24 seconds) needs a huge talent not only years of practicing and tecnique, that's why there is only one Dimash he is THE best is a godgiven gift to all of us and yes he's tall 1,91 meters. Stay safe

This is the festival "New Wave" in Sochi (Russia). There was a competition of young performers and concerts of Russian artists. Dimash acted as a guest at the jubilee concert of the Kazakh group "A-studio". Baigali Serkebaev - the author of the song - plays the piano here. The author of the poems is a very famous Russian poet Ilya Reznik. It was a phenomenal performance! Superb low notes at the beginning, unreal high notes at the end. And again the oriental tones in the song! Melismа in the finale together with the last "Дай" - 23 seconds! Dimash used kazakh singing technique. Saha people ( Russia) uses this technique too. Here is the story of the song and the song with English subtitles - ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-ihYQ9SQGxw0.html

@zemanoshtronz
@zemanoshtronz 3 года назад
Hello, I’m from Brazil! The story behind this song is very interesting: The band that accompanies Dimash is the same one that composed the song, without the singer who died after a heart attack! The band is also from Kazakhstan and this performance by Dimash revitalized the song. In addition, the final part he added, with an oriental technique. The song was originally performed in 1998 and the band's name is A'Studio (Russian-based Kazakhstani pop music group, "Alma-Ata Studio", city of Almaty). The dead singer left the band in 2000 and passed away in 2015 and his name was Batyrkhan Shukenov. The lyrics are by the poet Ilia Reznik together with Baigaly Serkebayev, who is the keyboardist with long hair, which we see in the video accompanying Dimash.

Somebody explained in other video and it deffo sounds like the most likely answer - the technique behind that sound effect is actually two separate stages with seamless move from one to another - yodelling that speeds up and turns flawlessly into hammer vibrato - it's perfected so much that you can't even precisely point out where he changes from one to another

Great reaction & very informative. Most reactions fall in to 2 catergories, those by people like myself who just enjoy good music but have very little knowledge about the technicalities of singing ( although I am learning a lot by watching people like yourself explain whats actually happening) and those that are either musicians/vocalists themselves or vocal coaches etc. I usually watch the performance on its own first to see which parts stand out to me & how particular parts make me feel & where I get the chills etc, then I like to watch reaction video's of the performance done by people like yourself who know what they're talking about. Its really interesting that often the same parts stand out to them like they do to me & then they go on to explain whats actually going on & why it has the effet that it does. I look forward to learning something from the reactions as much as I do about seeing a performance for the 1st time,so thankyou. Having said that my next point is that I see that you're gettin through some of the more outstanding singers of today, morissette amon,marcelito pomoy & of course the 'king' of vocals, dimash but I feel I should suggest the 'queen' to dimash's king, and that is south korea's SoHyang. I would imagine that i'm not the 1st to recommend her as many reactors say they were led to sohyang by dimash fans or people that are watching a dimash reaction. I suggest,to start with, either a traditional korean folk song that was turned in to a more anthemic number by sohyangs amazing talent with arrangements( she always does the arrangements for her performances) & thats the song 'arirang alone' or the more well known 'bridge over troubled water', both from the show 'immortal songs 2'. OR one of her most recent offerings for the pandemic,her performance of 'i will always love you' which is very stripped back with little or no musical accompaniment( from a series called 'begin again korea' where a very small ensemble went in to work places & public spaces to sing 'mini' gigs in front of very small audiences. They were basically busking) & was done to help keep peoples spirits up in these difficult times. I say choose 1, but I am pretty sure that whichever 1 you do choose you will be left wanting more after you've heard her sing. I look forward to it
