These guys get a lot of flack from the metal community because their music can get kind of same-y, but in all honesty, I love 'em because they're just so much fun. You're also right about the guitar. It's definitely easier to play that fast when you're not tensed up, and it's often about letting go of that stress.

Either the original with ZP or a song since Marc. Both got their strengths and weaknesses. As far as I agree, that Marc just can't replicate the old songs as well as ZP did, ZP won't be able to do the same to the newer songs. I really hope she'll do either Edge of the World (god damn Marc proved there that he has talent and used his potential very great) or a ZP version. The choice she took was just really unfortunate..

You're absolutely right about relaxing with guitar playing. I've been playing for 10 years now; if you tense up you can maybe hold an awkward note, but you're sacrificing a lot of other things, and 90% of what is going on will usually be much better off with relaxed, loose muscles. Plus if you tighten up too much for too long you run the risk of pulling muscles, straining tendons and such; I once had a finger lock up mid-practice the night before a gig; it wasn't even a remotely difficult song but my part required me to hold a very similar chord shape for minutes on end. I was fine after though. It's interesting to see these guys (both vocals and guitarists) opting for variations from the 'studio' version; some of these changes I would guess are stylistic, or simply because they want to mix things up a bit for their own sake, but there are a few changes that I can imagine are more practical; certain runs, fills, note placements and flares must be really awkward to pull off consistently live. These guys are really on point though, they killed it. I'd love to see you react to Marcus King's voice, he's a blues guitarist/vocalist and he has loads of great material on youtube. I feel like if I say too much I'll spoil it, but his voice is just awesome. There's a song "Rita Is Gone" with some nice videos.

Yeah Marc really dose have a great voice, I’ve followed this band since I was in my first year of high school, but he wasn’t the original singer when they wrote and released this song, you should see what the original singer ZP Theart sounded like, he was awesome but sadly left the band in 2010, you should also react to Marc’s original audition video to really get an idea for what his voice can do

Years ago I heard an interview of Def Leppard on a local station, and their lead singer made a point that (most) British rock vocalists sing with an American accent. He made an example by singing the first line of "Pour Some Sugar On Me" with a proper British accent, and described it as "Austin Powers on Prozac".

Those of us that are familiar know this song starts at 200 mph. We waited for Beth to hear it and we were rewarded at 2:35 ...the dragon inside her awakens at 3:20 ...takes flight at 5:20 ...bursts through the clouds at 6:54 ...tucks her wings into a "crazy fast" dive at 7:23 ...spreads her wings and slows at 8:04 ...banks for a slow turn around the countryside at 8:39 and following ...breathes fire up in the air for effect at 10:37 ....and finally lands at 11:09. Love how you're so animated! We were right there with you in (dragon) spirit the whole time!

Watching the guitarists playing the same parts over each other to kind of add this odd depth and slight wobble to the sound, as they aren’t in 100% perfect sync, is so damn cool. It reminds of a time when I saw Atreyu at a festival and their guitarists did something similar, though spread about 10 or 15 feet apart and would toss their guitars back and forth on the short lead breaks. It was incredible to watch them throw their guitars at each other, catch them and resume playing the same bits over each other in sync. Not perfectly in sync, of course, but about as close as they are here. I was so close to the stage and overwhelmed by the sound that I couldn’t even hear them separately when they were mirroring each other. It was a really well choreographed bit for the guitarists, with the playing, movements, and throwing the guitars back and forth. I’ll never forget that show.
