I saw her interview when she said that after her Miss Saigon success, she didn’t get any big role offers afterwards. Then when this opportunity to play the role of Eponine came up, people were just waiting for her to mess up, and this was her opportunity to silence all her critics. Her performance as Eponine became the standard for the others who played the role. Then on the 25th anniversary of Les Mis, she was invited to play the role of Fantine, which she also played with elegance and finesse along with Alfie Boe.
Lea replaced as Fantine in the LES MISERABLES Broadway revival in 2007 and then she was asked to play Fantine in the 25th anniversary concert in 2010. Lea might have been the only actor to be in the 10th anniversary and 25th anniversary concerts as two different leading roles.
This performance isn't from 11 years ago. This is from the LES MISERABLES 10th Anniversary Dream Cast Concert in 1995. Lea was 24 (she was born Feb 22, 1971). Lea was the first Asian woman to play Eponine on Broadway in 1993 and she was asked to be part of the 10th Anniversary Dream Cast concert. For me, she is the best Filipina singer ever. Her voice is crystal clear. No need for subtitles and she sings like a musical storyteller. She’s also the original singing voice of two Disney Princesses, Jasmine and Mulan.
She is the definitive Eponine, but also played Fantine in Broadway's revival of Les Mis in 2006. A Tony and Laurence Olivier awards winner for playing Kim in Miss Saigon, she's a legend. Love your reaction, as always Danielle.

Lea Salonga is one outstanding artist, singer and performer. She really has full potential since her childhood days. She has the best voice that any young woman would want to have. I had been an avid Lea Salonga fan since my grade school days and I would love to watch her perform Live. I just so proud to see a fellow Countryman being so successful in the Arts and Theater. LEAH SALONGA made her professional debut in 1978 at the age of seven (7) in the musical The King and I with Repertory Philippines. She was a consistent honor student in school- in fact even finished VALEDICTORIAN of her High School class. Prior to going to London , Leah was alredy a big celebrity in the Phils, as a TV and stage performer and even had her own TV show. Even if you remove all her experiences, she's a brilliant person that gives her all the confidence.
This was more than 11 years ago, this was 1995, the Les Mis 10th anniversary concert in the Royal Albert Hall with a handpicked 'dream cast'. Possibly you're confusing it with the 25th anniversary concert where Lea sang Fantine's "I Dreamed a Dream".

As previously mentioned this is the Dream Cast show. She is Eponine. It is very worth watching this whole thing. I think I've watched at least 3 or 4 times a year. I won't spoil the end but OH MY!.

Oh one interesting tidbit; Lea Salonga mentioned Morisette to Alan Menken so Disney arranged for Mori to meet the legendary composer with Will Smith when they were in Japan. You know Lea sang the original theme song of the movie (for the official soundtrack). Morissette & Darren Espanto were chosen to sing the new rendition of A Whole New World for the promotion of Alladin in the Philippines.
This performance was the 15th anniversary if LesMis and it isnt 11 years ago. 25th anniversry is 11 years ago where she played Fanitine and not eponine.
