About 4 or 5 years ago my family and I are walking around Santa Monica, CA. When I hear some kick ass metal coming from the pier. We walk over and there's this band of kids just shredding their asses off. We stood and listened for a good 45 minutes just blown away by their talent. Been a fan of these guys ever since.

Welcome to younger Liliac! When this one was done, MeloDia was close to 16. Papa Liliac has been working with her voice since she was 8. He said she started to get a more rock voice and he let her evolve the way she wanted. It's cute to see her at 11 with her older brother Sam singing Stay. The youngest Justin, was around 10 and Ethan on rhythm guitar was about 12. That leaves Sam at 19 and Abigail at 18. They are now from 13 to 22. Their parents are Romanian born and immigrated to the US as children. They met each other at a church group and married out of High School. The rest is history! Liliac means bat in Romanian. I love seeing the vocal perspective because I analyze everything from a old musician perspective. This is when she was just finding DIO. She and the band is heavily influenced by DIO. Father wasn't allowed to hear secular music growing up, so it's a journey he's taken with his kids. It's fun to watch them progress more and more. They do awesome covers and fantastic originals. If you want future shock, check out Dear Father. Or maybe Their homage to Joan Jett. They did play for the DIO Cancer fundraiser playing The Last In Line which was the highlight of the show for me. Vinny Appice (Black Sabbath/DIO drummer) has said many times that MeloDia ( new stage name Romanian for Melody ) is the reincarnation of a female DIO. Loved your reaction/commentary. Such a sick band, got to play guitar with Quite Frankly the Band opening for them in March. Everyone in liliac were fun to talk to and put on a rocking show 🤘

Great reaction this goes back to there Santa Monica pier days there is a live version where Stewart Copeland Police drummer jams with them on the pier. Every song they do cover or originals is phenomenal. Also note Wendy Dio felt she was the best voice to tribute The Last in Line for Cancer fundraiser for Ronnie James Dio birthday .Vinny Appici former Dio drummer gave them an unreleased version for the fundraiser.

This song has so much energy and I love her voice. Liliac does a great cover of Crazy Train, too. It's worth a listen.

If you wanna check more of them, I recommend their live video of Janis Joplin's "Piece of My Heart". Good showcase for both Melody's softer smoky vocals and some absolutely incredible banshee shrieks.

You are a tad late to the ball lol. Liliac is an amazing group of youngsters. You have just opened a wonderful rock and roll rabbit hole. The talent of these kids is beyond amazing. All of their covers are outstanding and pay tasteful tribute to the original artist. Their original material is what really hooked me. Dive in and do some research into the phenomenon that is Liliac and you will not be disappointed. They are independent and quite humble and fan friendly. Wonderful family and wonderful artists. Looking forward to the inevitable deep dive you will surely be compelled to make. Welcome to the second coming of real rock and roll. They're young in this, still are, but they do perform much better know. Like Last in the Line and other Dio covers, they have own songs too. Mars, Sail Away(last one is so beautiful).

These guys are great, i remember coming across them on youtube when they used to do basically street busking and stuff you should check some of their original songs

Try some originals, like them better than the covers. “Sail Away” is a nice ballad. “Mars” live, concert footage “Nothing”, “Dancing in the Dark” Are a few to start with.

They have done an extended version of Dio's The Last in Line at the request of the Dio family.

If you have not listened to The Warning you really should. They are a power rock trio of sisters from Monterrey, Mexico and they are on their way, tearing up the Internet! They covered this song when they were ages 9-14 and have just done another version with Alessia Cara singing in with them. But listen to their original songs "Choke" and "Evolve". This band reminds me of them but they don't do the screamo.

Great reaction! They are just fearless when it comes to covering great classic metal, and they always kill it-super impressive! Their album of original stuff is really good, too!

You should check out a band of sisters from Monterey Mexico called The Warning. They just reimagined Enter Sandman for the Metallica blacklist album.

They are awesome! Very impressive especially for their ages! Rainbow in the Dark by Dio is my favorite cover of theirs. Everything they do is impressive.

I'm sitting here waiting to see Beth's reaction to Melody's voice, it has so much grit it almost sounds like she chain smokes a couple of packs a day (I think she is 19 btw). An amazing band I first heard a while ago, their cover of Dio's Holy Diver is awesome.

yes, finally you start looking at Melody :) the entire family band is fantastic but she has a definate quintessential voice.

The singer/bass player really made me sit up and pay attention. That combination is kinda tricky. You don't see it all that often.

Now this is 'hair metal' that I can relate to without laughing - and thankfully not a mullet in sight.

I've only recently got into Liliac band. They were originally on a televised talent show in the US. But they've got their own following and everything now.

You really want to hear Melody’s voice live? Watch their live “Another Piece of My Heart” from Georgia 2019. The girl has pipes. If you want to hear her range watch “Dear Father”.

I found these guys about a year ago and was very impressed right away. The lead singer is awesome. To me there is a lot of Lizzy Hale in her, just a heavier version. They do a lot of covers but do have some of their own original stuff that is very good. ...... Oh and by the way loved seeing you headbang.

You young lady have as we in the fang gang say have been fanged . I love watching the faces of first time Liliac reactors when they hear Melody sing , she has the best rock voice out there and is always backed up her extremely talented sister and brothers . Awsome reaction, I loved it! Your observations, about pronounciation and vocal style, are perfectly right. It comes from the singer's idol RJ Dio. Melody (her real name, not nickname) repeats everytime that her rock vocal model is Dio. I'd like you to see them growing, this video has more than 3 years. Meanwhile, they released two original albums and lots of covers. All are fantastic, you won't be disappointed, anything you pick. I recommend the covers they made after Dio (Holy Diver, Last in line), Janice Joplin or Joan Jett. Also tremendous originals, like Nothing or Sail away.

I was SO excited when I saw this come across my notifications--been waiting forever for Liliac to break in to the more "mainstream" reaction scene, and especially glad it was you to hear her first! Melody's voice is so freaking amazing, and this is just the tip of the iceberg--their covers of Dio and other 80's bands are just as top notch (you should hear Crazy Train and Last in Line!), and their originals are even better. Please, please dig deep into the treasure that is Liliac :)

Melody definitely has an incredible voice. Their cover of Holy diver, and Symphony of destruction are really good.

When I first heard this band, both their cover’s and original I was so happy to know that the future of real Rock was safe. The fact that they started out in the Santa Monica and Venice Beach area, my home town just made me super happy. Now I can’t wait to see them live and in person next month here in SLC Utah.

I agree with Immortal628...Their deal is off the chain. My favorite of their originals is Sail Away. You have to give that a listen. I agree with my wife, they should get some kind of award for that song.

Hi Beth! I like your reactions. It’s great to see you like them. They did an amazing job here. However I can’t overlook an opportunity for you to meet another very talented “family” band. It is a rock trio of three sisters called “THE WARNING”. They are from Mexico. They are 21,19 and 16 years old and extremely talented. They have 2 EPs 2 LPs, with an upcoming 3rd, and have almost 40 original songs. Other than their amazing song writing capabilities, musicianships and voices; their stage presence and live performances are incredible. When it comes to Enter Sandman: They did a cover of it in 2014 when they are 14, 12 and 9. Then they went viral on RU-vid. Last month Metallica released Blacklist album of 53 covers from top level artists. The Warning made a collaboration with Alessia Cara and they are Track 1 on the album. They take original Enter Sandman and make it their own. You must see that. Also all three of them can sing and their voices are really good. You will love them. You will love that song and all their originals. I guarantee it. I really hope you consider doing reactions to them. Thanks for reading✌️

I believe my old band played with in WPB FL, but I know I've seen them. I believe they are all siblings.

I thought this was going to be a recent video but it's not. They've gotten so much better since this came out. You should do something more recent.
