watching mamamoo immortal songs 2 is always a roller coaster ride. they take you to so many ups and downs and there is never a boring ride when you're listening to them. wish i could see more of them!
I love that you're getting to Mamamoo! I'm not a Kpop fan but I started following Mamamoo a month ago when a friend recommended me them because she told me they're not like "typical" kpop girl bands and they're right. They're awesome on live, they harmonize so well together and they all are good singers doing solo too (all of them they've released successful solo songs). I'm in love with them, I'm glad you liked them too.
Mamamoo have some of the best vocals in the business and they are extremely well trained vocally. Even the rapper, Moonbyul, can sing really well and better than a lot of singers in other groups. They also are experts at harmonizing, they do it naturally and they can harmonize perfectly on spot and improvise. They are also seen as real artists rather than just "idols" by respectable names in the industry.
@@John_Malloy A Real artist is someone that makes music too, All Members of Mamamoo write and compose songs, in kpop it isn't that common especially in girlgroups it's very rare to find a group where all members don't just sing or rap but know how to make music too and have a say in everything they put out, music videos, choreographies, styling...
@What Girl -- Thank-you for your reply. After your comment I did some reading and listening of Kpop to come to a deeper understanding of this music. So now I would say that for what they do as a form of entertainment these girls are "artists." You see, I too am a performer, perhaps not an artist. I specialize in singing a very old art form called Gregorian chant. It is demanding but fulfilling to perform, and if done well, sublime to hear. Pax vobiscum.

To get a real impression of how many styles they can hit a song with.. Passionflower. For a good listen to Solar's voice I recommend her solo song Hello. Hwasa has song called Twit that shows her voice really well and also very personable?
Passion Flower is personally my favourite! The vocals are obviously amazing, but oh the dancing, the choreography, the stage presence, the costumes (suits with red accents)...

Every performance on Immortal Songs (the show that they were) is worth watching. Not only the singers are amazing, but the performances and the lyrics are as well.
The vocal Queens! They were only rookies back then, gained fans and respect because of this stage. It's a competition show, where they sing classics and make it their own. They are the only kpop idols that repeatedly invited on stage, perform 13 times and won 3, against the veteran singers. And they have their own medley at their concert, sooo good. They always fail at lipsync. Love the reaction and the pointers i hope you get to react all of their Immortal Songs performance.

The only girl group with ALL powerful & mature vocals! Usually, kpop groups might have a few but very rarely, all can sing well especially with blended harmonies!
Glad to see a reaction on MAMAMOO ! :D Very interesting to see how you appreciate their performance on Delilah. :) It's one of my favorite group in terms of vocal performances, the members have very unique and beutiful voices, and their teamwork seems really on point. I think you could be happy and surprised with other performances from them :D Here 3 (to keep it short because I have a lot to recommend ahah) groups & band I can recommend : Dreamcatcher (girl group) I suggest songs like There Was No One Left, Jazz Bar, Scream, Black or White, Red Sun (but most of their songs are gorgeous) The Rose (boy band) I don't know them well bu I've heard the vocalists voices few times and I swear you have to listen to it, the tones I think I can call the the tones ? The main vocal have a very unique voice. I suggest Sorry (the others songs are great too so feel free to listen to it) A.C.E (boy group) very polyvalent groups with rapper who have also good vocals, all are great dancers, I recommend A.C.E's cover on the song Youngblood, I had the pleasure to hear it in live and it was so great (the 2 blonde guys at the right are the rappers) ! The cover on Someone You Loved is gorgeous too but there's only the 3 vocalists :) That's it for this time ahah

All the Immortal Songs songs are covers, that’s the show concept. Each episode showcases one of Korean music legends, and all the competitors cover one song each. This is actually a double cover. The guy at @ was the legend of this episode. He covered a lot of popular Western songs in Korean way back when. And now, Mamamoo covered him . He looked dead because that was his song - but he can hardly recognise it, as his cover was very close to the Tom Jones original, and Mamamoo decided to take the amazing classic and blast it out of the water. :P
Fun fact but 'Immortal Songs' is a show where only people who are considered as singers (which is different from being a K-Pop idol) get invited to and since Mamamoo debuted, they get invited every year. People in Korea also see Mamamoo as artists and not idols, which is a huge honor.

You're really underestimating k-pop. It's not just the title tracks of BTS and Blackpink and call it a day, thinking it's everything there is. There's really a lot to unpack, including emotion to spare. Both in k-pop or just korean music in general.
(K)Pop literally means popular music, so u cant blame first timers delving into kpop(ular music) to listen and make their opinions based on title tracks

just saw your video and loved your reaction to it, but when i heard about the emotion comment i immediately had to think of dreamcatcher,...their b-side tracks are all awesome and they have a talent to express their emotions (ok i conceide the point that they arent what you would call a "normal" kpop girl group .... but my point still stands :)

One singer that I think its overlooked on this side of the world is Fuyuki Tenge aka Fuki, she just seem to live in vibrato land and be incredible while at it, up there with Bruce Dickinson or Floor Jansen, albeit slightly less flexible. Would toss my hat at the ring for Unlucky Morpheus - Dignity of Spirit ( ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-x7W9DcUKY_U.html ), a behemoth of a live performance for the band and nice showcase plus how she can do certain things and not run out of breath on that range of singing. But also Unlucky Morpheus - Hyakki Hikou ( ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-NCI8_bDqR6A.html ) based on how unique she goes on the verse and range (Sadly no live perfomance outside of the whole concert, since its a deep cut from an old album)

I'm in no way hating and I really appreciate your reaction... but it seems like you have a this perception of kpop which sadly many carry with them and as a result refuse to actual do their research into it. Quoted from another artist kpop is not really a genre, but would be more accurately described as 'integrated content'. All groups try different concepts, genres, makeup and choreo and serve to give their fans/audience a whole auditory and visual package, especially during live stages we are really able to grasp the energy and emotion they give off. I'm not saying that some groups aren't manufactured but that comes with any territory including western music. So pls don't brush off all kpop groups just because of your perception of it...you might be excluding yourself from quality music.

The purpose of Immortal Songs is to honor classic songs by having them arranged and performed by modern artists. "Delilah" of course originated in the late 60's with Tom Jones. The old man who looked almost like he'd shuffled off the mortal coil sitting there performed the first Korean arrangement, and is thus the artist that Korean audiences would know.
