Marc started a Christian band, DownHere. He had people telling him he sounded like Freddie, and he submitted a video to the Queen Experience competition. Honestly, his vocals are stunning. Truly heaven sent.
This song performed by Marc chokes me up every time i hear it.. Whenever i close my eyes, I hear Freddie.. Never thought this would happen.. A guy who has the God given gift like Freddie had..
I enjoy watching British reactions to Marc Martel. They are the true Queen aficionados and when they are blown away by the performances of Marc, I know it is something special.
I saw Marc this past August. It was an amazing experience I highly recommend to any Queen fan. It's a true tribute to Freddie...not an impersonation, just respect and love💖
He surely did. "It's hard to find someone who sings like Freddie Mercury and I'm not sure the movie would have happened if we didn't have Marc." - Producer, Graham King of G.K. Films
@@marcfan1822, here are some more. :) “Literally, you could close your eyes and it’s Freddie, and that’s a very tough thing to do.” "He sent a video to Brian May and Roger Taylor and he sounds exactly like Freddie Mercury." "One thing he (Rami Malek) couldn’t recreate, however, was Mercury’s singing voice. Most singing scenes in the movie rely on either vocal stems from Queen master tapes or new recordings by Marc Martel..." - Three quotes from Graham King (Producer of the "Bohemian Rhapsody" movie)
@Ethan Anderson, THANK YOU for specifying "some of the songs"... I appreciate how amazing Marc is too, but it's been driving me crazy that so many ignorant Queen fans are saying that Marc sang ALL the songs in the movie. ( I'm just a stickler for accuracy, I guess.)
He actually sang most of the songs in the movie that Rami supposedly did but signed a non-disclosure agreement with a one year term. He really did sing most of the songs though.
It's eerie how much he sounds like Freddie. Saw Marc before the pandemic play with the Queen Celebration and it was the highlight of the fall season for us. Just gorgeous. And a fantastic band and showmanship!
WOW!!!!! I am actually crying. The emotion in his voice reminded me of Freddie singing it. I don't know why he isn't performing with Queen? Adam has a great voice but nothing like Marc. He has just blown me away. Fantastic performance. Thanks Georgina.🎤🎵🎶😀⭐❤🙏X
I'm a HUGE Queen fan and Marc is just phenomenal. I get goose bumps and a little choked up when i hear him sing and play. He's a fellow Montrealer so we're very proud.
Marc Martel!!! The best singer that is making us dream again to listen and sing along with Queen's songs!!! He is a complete talented musician and awesome singer!!!! Wow!!!😄❤❤❤❤👍👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
I loved this - you're reactions in this video are as pure as Marc's singing! Such a sublimely beautiful performance - and I find your reaction to be equally captivating... you have such look of radiance on your face! So natural and unguarded, just basking in each moment! (and frankly, I think you're pretty darn cute too)
Made you speechless, didn't he? *giggle* I was blown away when I saw this video for the first time a few days ago as well. You know Freddy is gone but.. when you listen to Marc sing and play this it's like he is still with us.
@@oscarpalacios22 Thank you for your comment. I am Canadian also but when you say things like that....self-serving. You define your home, your home doesn't define you. Peace.
he is easily my favorite contemporary musician. marc is in a league of his own... so very excited he's touring currently--i'll finally get to see these gorgeous songs live in july! :) would love to see more marc reactions always, should you feel so inclined!
He's French Canadian born in Montreal (1976), Queen made a bunch of concerts in the 70s...in Montreal :) I saw a picture of Marc side by side with Freddy, both with the same angle and the guy who did this copied Freddy's mustache on Marc's face, they truly looked like twins.
I decided to look into it a bit deeper. Marc's wiki says he was born 16 November 1976. A baby's time in the uterus is on average 38 to 40 weeks. That would put the date somewhere around the 10th and the 24th of February that he was conceived. Queen was on tour in the U.S. at the time, specifically in Detroit, Cincinnati, Cleveland, Toledo, Saginaw, Columbus, Pittsburgh, and three nights in Chicago. New York City (the 5th to the 8th of February) could even be added because it would only add two to four days to the 40 week average. Montreal is about 6 hours from New York City by vehicle. A six hour drive is honestly not far to go see one of the biggest bands in the world. I've gone 10 hours one way myself to see a band I really wanted to see and I doubt I'm the only person willing to do that.
This was one of the first Queen songs I ever heard and cried my eyes out so much, and still do to this day, it's just such a beautiful song, undoubtedly the greatest love song ever written, and Marc shows this in his version of it, Love and Respect for Freddie
*OMGOSH!!!* He sounds so much like *Freddie Mercury* yet with his own unique sound; we are just as mesmerized as you! *P.S.* Thanks for introducing him to some of us 😍
When Marc sings, he seems to 'channel' Freddie when he sings the Queen songs. But it's worth looking at his own stuff and stuff by other writers. He has a glorious,. clear voice, which can stir your emotions.. Watch the video of 'Take it with Me' by Marc, (the song is by Tom Waits). He is not just a 'copier' of Freddie - he truly has a wonderful voice. And he has lots of stuff from his earlier days. This guy makes me cry, the way Freddie did as the emotion comes from inside. Some people are extremely rude and make personal remarks about Marc, because 'no-one can replace Freddie'. Well, that may well be true. But why slag off someone's talent because he isn't Freddie? He has enough talent of his own. But I bet, when Marc's time comes, (many, many years from now!) no-one will be able to 'replace' Marc. Incidentally, I find your videos SO entertaining. You are so admiring of true talent, but also voice what we are all thinking when things aren't so good but you are not cruel with it!
I know Georgina I had the same reaction. Its love at first listen 😍 He makes me proud to be Canadian 🇨🇦 He is touring with the group Roger Taylor started. The Queen Extravaganza. I would love to see Marc live. He embodies Freddie's spirit in every Queen song he sings. Amazingly talented singer and piano player. You should check out him singing Freedom the song by George Michael. George Michael had a huge influence on Marc getting into singing in the first place. Loved your reaction to this video Georgina💕💖
Heidi Reichle he’s touring with his own band, The Ultimate Queen Celebration, not QuEx at the moment. And it IS a celebration: concert-goers are raving about his voice, showmanship and performance. “This was literally the best experience ever! I love Queen and Marc’s voice filled the place. It was like Freddie was actually there! I’m thankful I got to see this and had a wonderful time. Couldn’t speak the next day ‘cause I screamed so loud and when he pointed in Radio Gaga, I’m pretty sure he pointed at me, cause haha I was jumping so high trying to get him to see me but I could be wrong! 😂 Honestly though, this was the best time of my life EVER!!” That’s one example of thousands.
And yes, I find his story of how he learned to sing so interesting! Recording George Michael off the radio onto a cassette tape, then listening to it over and over. And how, at the young age of four, while falling asleep, he’d analyze his mom’s playing Beethoven and other classic greats on the piano. 💕
I had never heard the original but such a powerful song and Marc does it well. I also love his cover of "Is He worthy".... as well as everything else he sings!
great reaction and information givin from u! i really respect that u don hit the pause button every 15 sec off the song like other vocal coaches do! keep up the good W!
From one Voice Teacher to another (I also reviewed this video on my channel !) , I respect you and your thoughts so so much . Wonderful , everything you said !
New subscriber here. Loved your reaction and facial expressions, I felt the same. There will never be another Freddie ..but for these 8 minutes.. it felt as if he was back.
Haha my reaction is exactly the same everytime. He has such an incredible voice. I may not have been old enough to see Freddie live but I'm so glad I've seen Marc live. I really hope he comes back to the UK soon, I'm so there when he does!
You're spot on about Marc Martel! He can take us right back to the time in a matter of a few notes, and a feeling of Freddy that is undeniable. Please react to his other one take videos of You Take My Breath Away, Who Wants To Live Forever and his amazing rendition of one half of his face as Freddy and the other half of of his face as the Opera singer Povarotti Mercurotti All a must watch❤
Sorry, but Marc was born before Freddie died, so no reincarnation there. I've said before that I WOULD like to see an Ancestry DNA kit to see what relatives they have in common. There has to be a common bloodline in there SOMEWHERE. :) You can find out "where he's gigging" at marcmartelmusic.com. HOW MUCH do they sound alike? Well...Roger Taylor (Queen's Drummer) says he can close his eyes and hear Freddie singing. He calls it "uncanny" and "spine-chillingly identical." Well, you be the judge. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-84l-i84xBXE.html
He looks like John Barrowman, his voice when he talks sounds like John Barrowman, but when he sings, that's some serious Freddie Mercury channeling he's doing. As many before me have said, someone, seriously, get this man a moustache.
Wow I mean wow, that was breathtaking for real. If I closed my eyes I could hear freddy singing in the backgraound. Thank you so much for this video. ps. check out this name Daneliya Tuleshova - Stone Cold or any other song. Just epic girl.
Based on his published birthdate, Marc would have been conceived at the exact time Queen was in NYC for their _A Night At The Opera_ tour, only a few hours away by land from his native Montreal. Now, Marc's mum is by all accounts a very nice Christian lady, and no disparaging of her by any stretch. Still, the artist himself was that close by, at such a crucial time!
Hi Georgiana (what a lovely name, btw), love watching your reviews. Yes, if I closed my eyes I would never think this was NOT Freddie. Amazing. Do you (or anyone else here more knowledgable about singing than I am) know if their incredible voices might have something to do with their facial structure? I notice that Marc has a similar face shape to Freddie's. I know that Freddie would not get his overbite fixed because he was afraid it would ruin his voice... thoughts about that?
Wow Roger and Brian you guys have the wrong guy on tour with you. Dump Adam and get this guys PRONTO!!!! FUN FACT - He does a lot of the vocals for the actor being Freddie Mercury in the new Queen bio pic. I saw an interview with this guy and he said that they took Freddie’s vocals and the guy that plays him and this guys vocals and mixed it all together to get the effect that you get on the film. It’s amazing to by the way, the way the do this. Just image of this guy did your with Queen how much more people would go to see them just to see and hear this guy that sounds like Freddie.
Marc was born in 1976 so even if reincarnation was a thing he was already 15 by the time Freddy died. He's also very good at sounding like a few other singers.
Accurate. Seen a lot of reincarnation comments, but he was alive before Freddie passed. Yeah. Secret son he never told us about considering he was quiet about his life.
Davina Michelle and Marc Martel and Freddie Mercury all do the "Chin Forward Jaw Drop Sound in the Back" New Discovered Singing Technique. Even Glennis Grace does a hint of that !
It's funny you mentioned about when this guy was born, Marc Martel, because I've been watching him ever since the Bohemian Rhapsody movie and reading comments excetera and one fan actually had done research and figured out that Freddie did a show in Montreal back in the year before this guy was born and his mother was single and lived about half an hour from Montreal ... you can figure out the possible rest of the story!
