You're spot on - she truly is a legend! The song was originally written in Filipino ("Ikaw") but she sang in a language she doesn't speak - in Spanish. But it didn't take away the meaning nor the feeling of the song as her rendition was just as heartfelt and breathtaking.

Well, KZ is in a completely different category. She’s actually the best artist to me overall. But just in terms of impressive and dynamic vocals and gymnastics , Regine Velasquez is it.

I remember this was the 2nd night of her concert and wasnt fully 100% well. She was rushed to the hospital after of dehydration and fatigue. She was groomed by her parents musically starting at an early age. But her Dad was the biggest influence to her musical training of the dynamics, techniques and vocal control aspect. Her Dad used to let herself submerged in water, started from waist or belly during the earlier days and eventually going deeper up until like the neck on the latter part of her training while singing a song, She started singing at 6 yrs old, joined contests but wasnt really fortunate to win, At 14, from Southern Leyte, her whole family moved to Bulacan, ouside the capital , Manila. She had competed in a very tough nationwide televised singing competion, Ang Bagong Kampeon ( "The New Champion" ), which she defended her reign for record weeks.The all they say, the rest is history... This is why the legacy of the legendary and iconic Asia's Songbird, Regine Velasquez-Alcasid will forever be etched into the minds of those she captured through her exquisite singing. And from what I hear from almost all of Regine's reactors on YT including them is how great of a storyteller she is. This trademark that she has in interpreting a song is what sets her apart as an artist. She's a complete package. She clearly has the technical proficiency, a very effective storyteller, and of course that goddess-like face/visual.

Did you know her vocal coach when she was young is her father. They practice while she was sink on the water and the head up and doing her voacl practice, maybe thats how her vibrato made so good.
Stuff like this is why she is Called "Asia's SongBird" or "Queen".....If I can find it in my Files..You have to see the one of Regine V during one of her Concerts She had lost her voice the first night of the shows.....The Second night was not feeling good & had sung a couplesongs...But She Wanted to Sing The Closing Number So She got help to stage and Sit in Front of the Piano on The Floor cross leggedand With some of the Best Belts and power notes you will Hear Rocked the Stage...so much for not being able to Belt sitting down in a Red Gown ...LOL......If anyone has that link...Please Share it Would Love Justin to see That

By the way, she's the Asia's Songbird and she's in the industry for 35 years now. She's 50 turning 51 years old on April. You should react see and hear her perform What kind of fool am I in her 20th Anniversary Concert several years ago. Also her performance of Shine in her Joy from Home Concert last June. It's an online benefit concert. 'Though she's a Lyric Soprano/Lyric Coloratura Soprano, she can go as low as A2,and sometimes F2. And as high as B6. Many singers of today look up to her and idolize her, they're also inspired by her. Including Morissette Amon and Katrina Velarde. She also became Sarah Geronimo's mentor and Sarah won on a singing competition that was hosted by Regine way back 2003 I think. Thanks!

That song was the bridal song national anthem of the Philippines... U know,when the bride is walking the isle and her husband to be is looking beautifully at her.... That's THE perfect song!!!. The song title is "IKAW" in tagalog and "YOU" in English.

She was trained by her father when she was young. One of the training techniques her father used was to have her in the water up to her neck and sing. She is really one of the best singers. Her technique is awesome.
