People are literally dragging both of them, especially when it comes to vocal. C'mon they both sound good. Plus riri and tay are the most successful female artist of this century.

I have to eat my words. I never thought Taylor Swift was a good singer but this video made me think differently. She’s not the best but she’s pretty good. She does what is vocally comfortable to her and I respect that!
Taylor wasn't lip syncing. She never did. She once said that she'll never do lip syncing because many people paid for her concert just to see her singing live.
7:50 was not lipsync actually. She always tends to having the mic far away, it's her style, but the mic has a quite big range so that's fine. And also the camera position might influence the viewers view if that makes sense 😁😂 And also based on logic: She performed in that performance with like 20 "The Voice" contestants, and Taylor had only a few singing parts ( first few verses, sing along in the chorus and that high/long note and some final adlibs). So it simply would not make sense creating a playback-live-track with just a few lines and massive gaps for the contestants parts 😅

I love Tay, and I think that she has improved vocally a lot since the beginning of her career. But I agree that she is definitely no vocalist; she’s a lyricist. And I think that it’s okay if she is not among the great vocalist such as Mariah, Whitney, or Beyoncé. People like Tay, Selena, Brittany, and many more show that being an artist/performer is more than just raw singing abilities; if that were true many more wonderfully talented aspiring artists would be huge stars right now. I think it’s more the entire brand or character they present when it comes to commercial artists. 🙂
Both are good singers, but personally I prefer Rihanna's tone quality and texture. Also, I'd say this "battle" is nonsense because the two artist are very much different from each other.
"Incredibly talented" is a bit of an overstatement. I definitely thought before watching this that's she's worse though and I thought Rihanna was better.
Noé Oliveira hey! sry to inform ya but Taylor has gone as low as Rihanna in “Love On The Brain”. They both hit C3, Taylor has alr done so in 2017 with “New Year’s Day” and “Don’t Blame Me”.

@@SC-hi6tp Only in the upper belts, Rihanna is a more well-rounded vocalist, she has a good low-register (consistent support down to F3 Taylor doesn't consistently support in the low register), she is a lot more melissmatic than Taylor and has a wider falsetto range than Taylor as well (prolonged B5 and exclaimed E6)
That vocal battle was made by a Taylor Swift fan... also it's no secret that Rihanna is a more gifted vocalist, she entered the industry at 16 with essentially the same vocal range as she has now, she's always had a natural vibrato and melissmatic voice, along with a unique Caribbean tone, she's also developed more texture to her voice and a better low register over the years. Taylor is rather basic vocally, but she's worked hard to have a decent belting register and she has a lot of potential in her low register too. Even though Rihanna's better vocally, that doesn't make Taylor less talented, Taylor plays multiple instruments and writes and produces all her songs, she's a very talented artist even though her voice is average. Rihanna is where she is today because of her voice, stage presence and fashion whereas Taylor is more of an overall musician.
She seems to be harder on Rihanna than she is on Taylor and as much as Rihanna has performed on award shows and at bigger concerts where there’s HQ videos of, who ever made this video picked odd concert recordings of Rihanna. Didn’t like this reaction video at all.
eddie madrigal I’m a hardcore Swiftie and barely listen to Rihanna but it’s not fair to say that Rihanna isn’t talented. She has a very different style than Taylor, and while I may prefer Taylor, Rihanna has a fan base that loves her talent and music. Plus Taylor has been extremely vocal about not dissing other female artists so let’s just not do that
Rihanna is naturally a more gifted vocalist but Taylor improved tremendously over the year compared to Rihanna who actually got worse, Rihanna has better agility, and she has a vibrato and more power however Taylor got better belts and upper belts she’s more consistent live nowadays. Head Voice is point each I guess but rihanna has a lot more range
This comparison is a tad mismatched. Taylor though has grown to be pretty nice vocally. I’d say Taylor these days probably is more consistent but Rihanna can go further.
Rihanna has better potential, nicer tone and agility. She just wasn't able to utilize well her instrument while taylor keeps on improving her voice every year. Both are great imo
TAYLOR is a great singer, but she’s not an amazing singer. She is overall an incredible artist though. She’s really well rounded. Her vocals are really good, guitar playing neat and crisp, she also plays the piano, and her song writing and lyric skills are beautiful. Plus she’s just a really kind person. I’ll always be a swiftie.

A person doesn't always needs to hit high notes to be a good singer. Her songs are not just for showing her vocal abilities but her emotions as she is a songwriter and a story teller.

Taylor, imo, is definitely the better singer. Neither are vocally super. However, rihana has a better sound to her voice, imo. I do think Rihana won some of the lower notes that they drew.
You've discredited yourself as a vocal coach if you think Taylor Swift has a better voice than Rihanna, in my opinion. I'm a fan of neither but I'm a vocalist myself and have a great ear for music, in my opinion. Taylor swift is mediocre at best and below par at worst. Rihanna is just above mediocre at worst and good at best. Once again, in my opinion. In all fairness, these clips are of atrocious sound quality.
Whoever chose these clips is not a Rihanna fan and I wanted Taylor Swift to win. Nobody would usually think that Taylor Swift is a better singer than Rihanna, not anywhere near that.

The only reason why people think rihanna has better vocals than taylor is coz she has a deeper voice while taylor's voice is very soft. But in actuality, taylor is a better vocalist than her.

I'm not shocked with the outcome Rihanna has the capability...but she always comes off as lazy (vocally) to me Whilst Taylor...may not be the best vocalist out there...but she has really put in the work to develop her voice...and where she stands at currently is fairly good..
The “point each” thing bothers me. There were a lot of clips where Taylor was straining, flat, or very weak tonally compared to Rihanna, and she still got a point.
This video was VERY biased towards Taylor. People’s voices have different textures and tones, and everyone’s voice is different so it’s unfair to compare them when it comes to tone/style. They are completely different artists singing different genres, so this battle doesn’t really make sense anyway. Let’s watch clips of Taylor singing R&B, and then we can compare. I think she is a talented artist, but at the end of the day she was straining and flat/sharp in a lot of these clips and it was hypocritical for THVC to critique Rihanna without critiquing Taylor’s flaws too.
No dude the videos were fair , Rihanna just hasn’t performed lately , and those were her best performance , I am a Rihanna fan but this just doesn’t mean anything , she is awesome , but Taylor improves so so much vocals
You can't really comment objectively so what's the point. It's quote clear Rihanna is the better singer overall, even if you don't like her music. Swift is flat 11 times out of 10.

Rihanna, katy, taylor I think stands on the same ground when it comes to vocal. Rihanna and katy is ahead when it comes to agility and tonal quality, but taylor and katy i think was more consistent than rihanna.

Well ... taylor has improve a looooooot and her voice sounds really good live. Rihanna sounds lazy most of the times live and struggles a lot, she still skips maaany notes but when she sings like adele, just standing there she kills it 🙌 (less when she goes with high or too long notes bc she doesn't have much control yet)
This time I have to say, the clip choices were really fair! Earlier battles were sometimes really unfair cause some people who created them want their fav to do better, so it's a bit biased. But this time both had good clips: Fancams, professional HD clips and the notes were comparable
she does have a little vibrato actually, she just doesn't use it. Also, a vibrato isn't a necessary quality in a singer, it's a stylistic choice that helps your voice resonate and helps blur the perceived pitch, i don't know why some people talk about it as if it was an absolute must, it's not
Someone new Yes I’m fully well aware of that, and she has earned all of her success rightfully so. I’m not here to argue. These two are both legends already at such a young age. I respect them and applaud them both. But I’m speaking for myself about my love and admiration of Rihanna.
