i think the reason he enjoys Handong's voice is because she was classically trained in chinese theater/opera before joining Dreamcatcher.

I’m not sure if someone said this but Sua is actually the one who does the “scream, scream, scream” in the studio version but they edited her voice to make it more deeper and eerie. That’s why she sang it here. :)

They don’t really take themselves seriously during radio shows they always goof around as contrasted to other groups who’s more behave and reserved, yeah they’re total crackedheads that’s what I like about them 🤣🤣 Looking forward to more of your analysis on Dreamcatcher Btw, you have the same headphones as mine :)

You should react to their live stage of Break the Wall! They're standing up, so posture is better, and they're not dancing so they can really focus on vocals!

No one knows what Dami was wearing, I think she was going for a fisherman concept lol It's really interesting to hear an oppinion from someone that studied this. I went to a conservatory for 5 years but I'm a instrumentist, so there are nuances in vocal performances that I don't always pick up. Also, I don't think you have to worry about somnies, you were honest and respectful, we're pretty chill if no one is hating on our girls. Looking forward to more of your videos!

I’m glad you’re checking out more of Dreamcatcher’s live performances! :) I’ll let you know that Dreamcatcher is my favorite group and I think this is one of their worst performances because (like you pointed out) there’s a lot of flat notes and strain. When I first watched this, I thought they sounded really tired and I’m sure they were because their promotional schedule was crazy! With all their amazing performances, it’s nice to know they’re still human. :) I’m excited for you to hear more!

First of all, I appreciate your analysis. It's interesting to hear from people who know more in depth about the vocals, music, or dance. When DC usually performs on radio shows they always act goofy but still pull off nearly flawless vocals. My favorite radio live is their Wonderland performance on Super K-pop. Crackheads. lol Looking forward to the next one!

Sua actually the one who sang the 'scream, scream, scream' part but they edited her voice to sound more haunting and low. That's why she sang it there for fun but also cus she was the one who sang it anyway xD

Personally for me, this definitely wasn't their best, but I somewhat can empathize due to their super busy schedules, lack of sleep and such. When I watch other vocal coaches' videos they only talk about the positive parts but don't really explain or go in too deep about what technique they use. I think this is important because it lets you know more about their style and what they could improve. Thank you for your analysation :)

I love the honesty, not a lot of RU-vidr does that, but some do and you're one of them. Could be like you said, receiving negative response but you said in a way of respect and love for the girls. Well Siyeon is the Main Vocalist and Yoohyeon the Lead Vocalist After All. Thankfully They Did Finally Win an Award. It's Just Not One From A Music Show and In My Honest Opinion; Its a Better and more Meaningful Award Then One That You Win On Music Shows.

Thanks for this reaction and especially thanks for staying honest, not enough reactors are honest these days. Don't worry about pointing out some of the small details, Insomnia are usually accepting of all opinions as long as it's not just outright hateful. I'll just say that I think Yoohyeon was just having a bit of an off day here, it happens to everyone. If you wouldn't mind I have a couple suggestions for other videos to analyse their vocals in: - The first is Vocal Practice 01 - ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-BbnEZW_uYvo.html This was before their official debut and really showcases each member's vocals pretty well, also some outtakes at the end. - All of their performances on arirang radio are both chaotic and amazing vocally, my personal favourites from there are "chase me", "wonderland", "which a star" and "Jazz Bar" (unfortunately no handong in jazz bar) - Every member has one or more "special clips" which are basically covers of other popular songs. In particular Siyeon's cover of speechless is incredible. - Last but not least Siyeon was on a show called V-1, she performed 3 songs all being different styles, my favourite from here being her cover of Overdose. Sorry it ended up being a bit long lol, I hope you continue to react to dreamcatcher. It's really nice to see more people with vocal expertise reacting to dreamcatcher and again thanks for being honest :)

They just revealed in their 1 Vlive video that the "Woah" vocals in the first chorus, and the literal scream before the first chorus drop was Ollounder their producer xD

Thank you for doing this again... Even tho the girls' technique aint perfect, they are overral pretty good, and to me the best group vocal wise in the current kpop industry. Siyeon is just too good tbh. I'm commenting late I know, but in positions given to the girls, Siyeon is the main vocal, Yoohyeon the sub-vocalist (or 2nd vocal), Sua with her amazing voice though she is the main dancer, of course Dami is main rapper, and Gahyeon would be the sub-rapper, Sua did rap before in Good Night but I think she focuses more on singing now than rapping.

I promise you Insomnia is a REALLY nice fandom. We like boasting about their abilities and how much they improve each comeback. We are also very conscious of the fact they are human and of course aren't perfect. I'd be interested to see a video where you compare older live performances to newer ones. After Rose Blue everyone flipped out over how much SuA's singing has improved.

That chant they did is actually common at live performances. The crowd is actually given these chants to tell out during the show. It gets the crowd involved in a coordinated way as to not disrupt the show. Being rock oriented to the 70s this wasn't new to me but it is not really done here in this fashion. In the west it is much more chaotic and emotional I think. Anyway. Not a fan of the fan chants. But it is what it is.

Hey idk if anyone has mentioned it here but I personally feel that on the day this radio show happened yoohyeon did in general have kind of an unstable sound? I wondered if she was a little sore or was just having a bad day, bc on the same day she sang other songs on the same radio show and she did also sound a little pitchy, which is really unusual for yooh, she usually gets her pitch just right. Idk, just wanted to mention it here! I love her voice so much so when I saw this performance and the other ones she did on the same day I was a bit worried! Thank you for the video!

I Wonder Austin how you feel about something that has been said A Lot Lately, especially with this Comeback with Dystopia: Lose Myself Mini-Album and Hearing or Seeing Both 'Break The Wall' (Live Showcase Video) and 'I Can't Get You Out of My Mind' (Lyric Video) Performances; that it Really Can Be Said That "If It Were Any Other Group Almost Any of The Dreamcatcher Members (in particular JiU, SuA and Gahyeon) Could be The Lead or Main Vocalist and Front their own Band"; That that is how Talented Dreamcatcher Truly is! Would You Agree to That Statement? Also a Note about the Group: More Than One Member Used to be in Choir. Namely Siyeon, Yoohyeon and Dami. are the one I know for sure from watching various video clips. Dami even Won A Choir Award while in Elementary School. Siyeon used to be in a Rock Band before becoming an Idol Trainee; The helps explain her Killer Rock Vocals!

Interesting, I was wondering about backing vocals. In the west I think lipsyncing is a shameful, possibly careerending scandal, but in kpop it's fully accepted and people embrace backing tracks because of the demanding choreo's. But isn't either singing live or 100% lipsyncing easier, why does singing over a backing track not always sound fake? Wouldn't it sound like harmonizing with all the small variations? And how is the volume controlled if an idol sings some parts but not others?
