Beth Roars Sydney was amazing all through out BGT she was My top one from start glad she won was amazing and I get my Sydney fix her singing every day. Hope her dreams come true, she did say she will keep singing lessons up with you coach singers at BGT her big fan xx
In 62 years of living and nearly 20 years of instrumental and vocal music performance, I have to truly say that Sydnie is one of the top 10 vocalists I've ever heard. When she gets her big, starring role on the West End, I will fly to the UK for the first time in my life, just to see her.
She is a fantastic singer but for over the rainbow you should listen to Lauren Allred which she sang sometime ago on AGT i believe and it is the same and they both sang it incredibly well. There’s nothing wrong in copying someone as good as Lauren mind you.
@@gianrobertoferrari7649 Sydnie did say that after the perfromance and also on a talk show that she used Lauren's arrangement. She also said that Lauren sent her a message congratulating her.
Agree she would dominate the west end, but I have to say, I think she is better than that, but I get it she needs to “pay her dues”. Whatever she does I WANT TO HEAR IT, amazing talent.
I'm a HUGE Judy Garland fan and pretty much can't stand anyone else singing "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" because it just doesn't compare, but this version, good lord, this version has Judy and Sydnie and wistful and dreams and determination and joy and pain and hope and disappointment all wrapped up and my GOD can that woman open her mouth and sing. In close up shots you can see her uvula and the back of her mouth and how it's positioned and how it's vibrating and you know that this is the real deal. Like Simon said--are these people deaf that you are auditioning for? Well, they ain't deaf now cause she's done BLOWN the roof off the place. It truly is a Sydnie Mary Christmas!!!!
The very first time I heard her when she said,” Hallowwww!” during her audition song “tomorrow” , I was like “Jesus who is this girl?” I was not expecting that heavy Brit accent to come out of her sweet pretty face. I can’t tell you how many reaction vids I’ve watched of her 3 performances. They are all 3 so moving. So beautiful. She’s really something special
Amazing how a singer like this can go around auditioning etc and still be pretty much unknown by 28. Here's to hoping this will be the start of a glowing career! I, for one, will certainly be looking out for her future performances and , hopefully, album.
She's been working in the West End shows for years. Just like Sam Bailey from X Factor ( a far more accomplished singer) had been singing all over the world for many years. These people are not new to the world of singing.
My thoughts on her singing...and i say this as a guy who grew up around singing with my mom singing professionally. The three songs sung by Miss Christmas for BGT are by FAR...my most favorite versions of those iconic songs ever sung. I sat up the other night thinking about what other songs I'd love to hear her sing...from Alphavilles "Forever Young" to The Eagles "Desperado" to Elton John's "Goodbye Yellow Brick Road"...and Berlin's "Take My Breath Away"...and i started making a list to suggest to her ...and ill be damned if it wasnt well over 200 iconic songs on my list. I immediately stopped creating the list after seeing how big it was getting. Her voice is PERFECT. It absolutely resonates right through me at my core. Crazy good. The perfect pitch, sniper control, and buttery tonal variations are perfect. I can't get enough of her singing. I'm not at all embarrassed about the number of times I've listened to her 3 songs she sang on BGT. My only problem now is...How do we get her to sing the 5,000 songs in my musical index???❤ Dusty Springfield "You Don't Own Me"❤
Lots of us have songs we want her to sing.... Let her pick 'em. Seems like she could make any song a gem. Would like her to do some Chrismas songs, however. It's only fitting.
Did you miss her first audition, where she got the golden buzzer? It's a must-see, particularly seeing her personality when they talk to her. I'm going to look for your reaction to that. Rob
I heard her say she had a new vocal coach who really helped her. I can't imagine anyone in Broadway or the West End rejecting her. I don't care how competitive they are, she is incomparable.
These performances by Sydnie are simply magnificent. And no matter how many times I watch and listen, my appetite for them never dulls. Sydnie is supreme - simply the best. Let’s ’ave it, you lovely girl. ❤️ A cogent and compelling analysis, Beth, delivered with poise, professionalism and lilting eloquence. I thank you most sincerely.👍
The clarity and control in her voice is extremely powerful. She delivered the vocals tho. The charisma and posture on the stage is also otherworldly. She is a total package and i think we can call her a star and icon already. She is shining btw, even her eyes is also story telling us which is a part of a being an artist. Thank u so much for gorgeous and knowledgeable reaction to Syndnie dear Beth. Keep it up !!
It's not just that she has got an amazing voice, she has the most wonderful personality and is beautiful inside and out, that makes her radiate this when she sings.
I think she used these three songs as her resume for the directors and theater talent agencies for her chance to star on the West End. For me she is worth hundreds of dollars ticket price to hear her in a performance. May God’s blessing on her voice be a gift for the ages to come❤❤❤❤
She actually sang Loren Allred's rendition of this song (that was who was singing it in the Golden Buzzer video, if you didn't know). Loren is her idol and gave Sydnie her blessing to sing this version! :) Great reaction as always!
Sydnie did say that after the performance and also on a talk show that she used Lauren's arrangement. She also said that Lauren sent her a message congratulating her.
What it must have been like to be in that audience. WOW!! All 3 of Sydnie's performances were Outstanding, but this is my favorite. In fact, it's my all time favorite vocal performance on any talent show---EVER! Humble, self-deprecating, incredibly funny, and beautiful inside and out. FYI In 17 years of BGT, no female singer had ever won. And I'd be surprised if the vote count was close. She is simply A Voice for the Ages!!! Great reaction, Beth. 💕
😮Wow! Good to know … she IS so amazing! Truly wish in my lifetime (hurry SYDNIE! ) to attend her even just one of her upcoming concerts! Could you PLEASE let SYDNIE know - a lot of us around the world, I guess, need her to “LET’s ‘AVE IT!” ❤❤❤
you hit the nail on the head, there are so so many talented singers knocking on the door,s of the west end, thankfully this talented, and ,well just gorgeous ,funny young lady has taken her chance, A star is born, enjoy your journey syd, do not change.
What precision on that last 'My Way'. Stupendous! That last note, was like it had her, and she had it. She had to like unhook herself from it, in order for her to stop; to end the song; or it would have just taken her to the moon or something. Absolutely tremendous! And, boy, was I ever glad to be along for that ride; so thrilling. Shivering me timbers, & stuff like that! Woooh!😂
Loren Allred needs a little credit for Over The Rainbow. Sydnie talks about doing Loren’s version. Sydnie has Shirley Bassey and Ethel Merman voice and performance qualities. Sydnie is a show stopping performer. I think she may have auditioned for the wrong parts in the West End. Love her!👍🌹❤️
Sydnie has stated a few times that one of her idols is Loren Allred. She said she’d love to do a collaboration with her. And yes she credits Loren with Over The Rainbow. It was her arrangement.
Beth - About that shift you point out on "DARE" (in "that you dare to dream..."), where the vowel opens to an AH sound: This is one of several places in all three of Sydnie's BGT performances where (to my ear, anyway) she channels Barbra Streisand. Do you hear it? Other Streisand moments I noticed included: in "Tomorrow," the second line "Bet your bottom dollar"; and, in "My Way," the way she fairly chomped on that sound "choo" in "more than I could CHEW." For just those fleeting moments, I could see Barbra right there, in her early twenties, at the mic with Sydnie. Of course I hear other greats as well -- Judy Garland and Liza Minelli and some others mentioned in other comments. I love that Sydnie isn't imitating anyone, but the community of great singers shines through her.
Beth, you are my new favourite vocal reviewer. Glad I stumbled across you. Love your precise, clear explanations of all the parts I'm interested in. I learned so much from just this one review. Will go on to listen to more from you now. Thank you!
It’s easy. Musical theater cast is character based performance in a relatively medium or small venue. She is obviously too talented to play someone else. She is so nuclear powerful that she needed a huge venue and crowd to turn her power loose! Those casting directors didn’t know what she was capable of and agents who turned her down have probably hung themselves by now lol.
Casting for those shows goes beyond just the vocal talent and technicality; they're also looking at your physique (are you the right height, shape, size, etc) especially if the role involves dance elements to it (which many of them will). I've had friends who have had to quickly put on weight just to secure a call back, and others who were turned away because they were too short. There is some leniency when it comes to household names or celebrities though, but largely it will depend on the casting team how strict they are when it comes to finding what they're looking for (and they already know exactly what they want most of the time before anyone sets foot inside).
I am 66 years old living in Florida with cancer surviving alone with my 2 boxers. I listen to these shows since the beginning and I have done tons of cruising pre covid. I loved the shows but never saw Syd personally. Now my musical career consisted of me in elementary in a choir hitting a note and the teacher stopped everything and wanted to know who did that and I was afraid. My mom was a homemaker but was in the church and took her singing seriously and in high school I would yell at her to let me sleep. Wow do I feel like a schmuck. One thing I have come to appreciate and love so much is seeing people'e reactions of happiness and experience something so beautiful. I love bringing a smile to peoples faces for sure but Im not that special but watching Syd just absolutely change people's entire mental environment. I saw you cry, I need to take a break from binge watching these 3 performances because my skin is tired from goosing up on me. Oh I am so happy for her but I also must express my love to Ireland and England worked for BT for years been to Ipswich to the Labs, over to Northern Ireland when bombs were exploding on the runways at Heathrow BUT the people over there are amazing and beautiful. Beth (hope thats your real name) I think you are so just amazingly gorgeous when you express your true feelings about Syd you pop on your chair smile just exude your feelings. Just awesome. Thank you and I will always watch you.
What a lovely comment. I hope you research Joe Tippens protocol for cancer. There are many success stories and there is so much hope. 🙏🏻❤️. Blessings to you.
She did say she has a vocal coach who elevated her skills and she is going to spend most of her winnings on more lessons. I would also like to know how much she has to do with the arrangements of the songs she sings. It is obvious she has custom arrangements. Also, how can you watch the My Way performance and not comment on the staging? Again, I wonder how much she inputs to these style decisions. Beth, you do the BEST reactions. Your technical observations are without peer.
She's not new to the game and has been working the West End stages for many years. If she's that good and gets a contract, she'll get any coaching she needs for free. She's playing the humble game.
WOW! Just WOW! Besides having an absolutely beautiful voice...she gets that buzzer thing for her expressionism alone. Don't watch much tv...sorry. Her talent is soo superior!
Sydney, your multi-hued voice is impeccable and soulful! I am a music teacher and I know what I am talking about too. All the negative comments about it from Miss Roars are just pure envy. Miss Roars, I have not heard you sing and I really don't want to hear you sing after watching your absurd video criticizing a great singer like Sydney. Envy is very negative... I am sure, Miss Roars, that in your life you will never be able to move the public the way she has managed to do. Your video stinks...
Devi mangiare ancora tanta polenta (è un detto italiano del nord) prima che tu possa solo commentare l’esibizione di questo fenomeno. Puoi tradurre con Google. Buona vita.
As a someone who can’t sing to save my own life, I can appreciate how hard this must be to pull off. My analogy is as if someone willingly jumps into a rip tide and holds gracefully, coming out of the water again without a strand of hair out place. I’m not a fan of the style, but the technique is out of this world. Executed to perfection.
I love to see the joy on the faces of those who understand and teach music when watching Sydnie. It speaks volumes to the aptitude of Sydnie Christmas. I am so happy she gave it another go at choosing singing as a profession otherwise she would have been a physical therapist with a massive unknown talent.
Take a look at another side of Sydnie Christmas with Somebody To Love (Queen)👍❤️ Below: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-AR0mJ41WW28.htmlsi=9q99zD0N9WoQZX-A
I watch these over and over again and always pick up on new things. You commented about Syd and Somewhere Over the Rainbow has "The Greatest Showman" qualities. One thing I know is that Syd's top idol is Loren Allred so I would bet she adds that in there for sure and Syd wants to do a collaboration with her. Can you imagine. OMG
I grew up In the 70s and 80s with Rock and Heavy Metal. But my weakness is Women like Whitney Houston, Céline Deione These Beautiful voices just fill my Heart and that is what Sydnie Does. I have to watch these by myself I'm a sobbing mess 😂😢❤😊
Well done on "fable". Yea she's fantastic & loved your reaction & analysis. Loren preceded her on Bgt then on AGT with that version of over the rainbow & give her her blessing to nod to it having been through the experience the year previous. It's so lovely & I hope they collaborate. Also she gives credit to Annabel Williams I think is her last name the Bgt vocal coach academy with helping her achieve there. So that's why a vocal coach is great . The are is more hiberno English or brogue as some refer to it. It's in other words a softer Gaelic r sound likr errror....instead of awr or ehrh.the more English & Scottish r sound
Beth Tom here from the US I watch this over and over and over again. I have come to one conclusion. Sydnie sings her heart out, her gift is her heart I would so much love to meet her, Beth I saw those tears in your eyes, dont ever be afraid to show emotion, Syd does let it flow as it shows your heart.
😀your ‘reaction’ sounded like a truly ‘professional interpretation’ of a rare phenomenal “work of stage performing vocal art”! Yes! ‘Twas “personal/heartfelt” portrayal of “🎶my way🎶 by Sydnie. Many of us just deeply felt it! Thanks Beth, for your reaction - 😳🫡🤣makes us understand what happened! 😊🙏❤
I immediately thought of Shirley Bassey when I first heard her, and especially after hearing her version of My Way. Then I went and listened to Shirley Bassey sing My Way, and with all respect to Ms. Bassey, whose voice I love, but Sydnie’s version clobbers hers. IMHO at least. 😊
Beth, I quite like your style of analysis....I really like smart people. I love how you infuse your personality into your various takes. Also, I'm sorta crushin' on you and you are adorable.
You're the first reactor I've seen who mentioned the "singing on the consonants" like Frank Sinatra/swing style. So right! Sydnie said in an interview that she was so proud of this "My Way" performance because she had worked so hard/long on it to make it her own. And she did! Thanks for all your insights.
😀your ‘reaction’ sounded like a truly ‘professional interpretation’ of a rare phenomenal “work of stage performing vocal art”! Yes! ‘Twas “personal/heartfelt” portrayal of “🎶my way🎶 via Sydnie’s own craft. Many of us jolted deeply with it! Thanks Beth, for your reaction - 😳🫡🤣makes us understand what happened! 😊🙏❤
She's a great singer. I cah hear a lot of Celine Dion influence, but she certainly puts her own spin on it. And I loved the nod to the Bruddah Iz version.
Hi Beth, about Over the Rainbow. Is the version of Loren Allred from AGT 2024: Loren Allred SHINES with "Over The Rainbow" | Semi-Finals | AGT: Fantasy League 2024 ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-2G7AOscKjE0.html Loren released the song for her. Loren Allred is the voice behind "Never Enough": Loren Allred STUNS with Simon's favorite, “Never Enough” | AGT: Fantasy League 2024 ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-VGrYf61Y8xc.html She is the ghost singer from the film. She came out of the shadows in 2022. She was part of BGT 2022. Loren Allred is Sydnie Idol. It is a must. You will love her.
Hello Beth, short advertisement for Sydnie's new recording of Starlight Express. Extremely good: Sydnie Christmas - Starlight Express (Official Music Video)
Well? Where is our beloved bethroaring analysis of Sydnie's audition singing tomorrow? You're not thorough in this journey, Beth. You missed a chapter! Can we have it? Please, please, please?
Sydnie Christmas is so unique..her personality and voice…but I think she’s so pretty and doesn’t need the glitz and such…she’s a major talent……..apparently everyone thinks so..
It was great that BGT set up such amazing backdrops for her vocals. Plus she looked like a star. It made her wonderful vocals even better. She is a star in every sense of the word......and she's no deva....a regular, down to earth person....now that's really refreshing.
Watch her original audition of "Tomorrow"! She reminds me very much of Loren Allred in her range and her seemingly effortlessness, her dynamics and her personality. Both very kind and humble masters of the craft.
You should check out Sydnie’s new release and video (My May). Takes us on the emotional roller coaster of her BGT run from the beginning. Chills again!
Sydnie has either been heavily coached since her Golden Buzzer audition, or she's just a brilliant natural performer. Probably a bit of both. In any case, the result is spectacular. The hope now is that the voracious music industry allows her to hold on to what's natural, and suffer a minimum of the fake-tan of industry interference from the likes of Simon Cowell, whose ducks all left the bath when he started singing in the privacy of his own home, but who has no problem criticising others far better.
As a non-musical person, your review helps understand. New subscriber & will catch-up on you reviewing other artists. Sydnie said on one of her interviews, she was not on key for her "Rainbow" performance and hasn't been able to bring herself around to view it. Sounded pretty good to me.
Always love your comments and reactions but this time, WAY too much pausing constantly. I prefer when you let the video play without the constant pausing...thanks
Seeing as how Loren Allred is Sydnie Christmas' idol and want to collaborate together. Now they both sand "Over The Rainbow" would it not be cool to compare and contrast these two great singers/performers. Just a thought.
Sidnie has released Andrew Lloyd webbers starlight express on music video also she has an album coming out on september 20th and a uk tour in october thankyou for your reactions
Look she has a fantastic voice but she has auditioned for the West End many times and hasn’t been awarded a main role. So why did she fail the audition? Maybe she’s not a very good actor because that is just as important for a Musical. I hope I’m wrong because she has a lovely personality,
I would like to hear it without the reverb, but at least it is tastefully and minimally done. One note: My Way was originally sung by its composer, American teen idol and song meister Paul Anka, who is still going strong after more than 65 years in the business.
I love your analysis! I've seen dozens of reactions but you are the first to really explain why I love Sydnie singing these songs so much! I hear Shirley Bassey (Goldfinger, Diamonds are Forever) in My Way. Brassy, belty, powerful! She reminds me of Barbra Streisand, too. Thank you for your insight!
🙏Likewise! Same thoughts about Barbra, too! Maybe the Yentl song “Papa can you hear me?” Thank YOU BETH, for putting your genuinely honest reaction - so, we did not just imagine the magic & effect of the gift in her personality & vocals! ❤❤❤
Before you criticize the West End for not selecting her you need to know that the talent level of those performers is off the chart. Sydnie is remarkable, but so are they, you just haven't heard them.
Im no vocal coach or anything, but i think she has a shirley bassey quality to her voice, where the sounds seem to come from the back, if she had the little jaw drop shirley does, she was that good i kept waiting for the shirley jaw, to drop
