I mean in a way he’s right. It’s normal for her to feel jealous and saddened. It’s admirable that she tries to stay uplifted through the movie but she shouldn’t have to pretend… it’s sad
@@lunarialoonatic I disagree with that because while she obviously wasn't as magical as her family (since she didn't have magic), she definitely was as special as her family was at that moment. In fact you could argue that she is more special. All of their magic couldn't stop the magic from dying. It took Mirabele's gift of empathy to heal the family which allowed the magic to come back. At which point she was gifted the magic of creation. The second she plugged the door knob into the house, the house became an encanto.

Idk if I’m listening to the lyrics to much, but the way they describe Isabel vs Luisa actually kind of tells that Luisa is over looked like she was struggling with. Mirabel used so many different ways to describe Isabel with graceful, beautiful, perfect, etc… however she only said Luisa was strong which is kinda what Luisa thought, that she was only useful for her strength and nothing else. I love how you said that the actress voicing her has a very light voice and like “happy” because if you heard Stephanie Beatriz(the voice actress) on her role as Rosa Diaz in Brooklyn 99 you wouldn’t even think that they’re the same person, she literally can shift her whole personality with her voice and in some interviews she sometimes shifts from her normal voice to her Rosa Diaz and it’s really amazing lol just a fun fact that I thought you should know
I love Stephanie Beatriz so much, I didn’t know she’d be in this & as soon as I heard her voice I recognized her & was so very pleasantly surprised. Delivered 200%, loved her in this . In an interview she talks about how much she loved making this movie & how much fun she had doing it , and it paid off & shows so much. Love her
Spoiler here: Her power is actually with Casita (the house). Casita listens mostly to Mirabel throughout the whole movie. When she’s hurt after they left her out of the family picture, Casita began to crack and all and the candle was “weaker”. Bruno patches her wounds. Indirectly, he is trying to heal her by “healing” Casita since she is so unwell because of all the emotional and psychological wounds she has. But as we can see in the movie, sometimes you need to let it all out and have a new start/ a new perception of things. So basically Mirabel’s power is being closer to Casita than anyone else and well running everyone’s power lmao (Well that’s what I understood of the movie and on what I’ve seen in some comments and all cuz I didn’t realize her power was being like tied to the house at first even tho it is like showed in the movie anywayyyyy)
I wanna kinda add to this? I didn't see the Casita as the gift. I saw that the Casita might've picked Mirabel, in a way. I think that once Abuela is dead, Mirabel would probably be the "head" of the house. Im not sure if it's a theory, and don't have much to back it up tbh, but this thought came to me one day and I thought I'd share.

The vocal takes used in Surface Pressure are VERY interesting and unique. And there's a video about the music of Encanto where there were clips of the voice actors singing in the booth so you could use that too! Maybe I hope you could talk about how Stephanie Beatriz who plays Mirabel in this changes her voice for her roles. (She plays officer Rosa Diaz in Brooklyn Nine Nine and her voice is super low and monotonous there!!) She's also in In The Heights!

You shoul definitely check out Claire Crosbys version of song called Surface Pressure from encanto!!! 🤩 She is really talented and the song is really hard to sing.
as a trans man that was a high soprano with whistle register before starting testosterone and is now a pretty solid baritone, i would LOVE to have been able to sing for you before testosterone versus now to hear your thoughts about the voice changing and such. it's so interesting to hear my voice teacher talk about how my voice has been changing and how the actual change is happening.

i love people's reactions to when the song speeds up. i like seeing how excited they get 'cause honestly, i was the same way. im a self taught singer and speeding up like that is hard to do! easy in theory but not so much in execution. she did amazing.
