Just a "fun", actually quite depressing, fact that Lin-Manuel Miranda told in a video: this is the only song in a 3/4 cadence, the rest of the songs from the movie are in the same 4/4 cadence. She is literally "out of beat" with the rest of the family. Loved the video as always! ❤☺
When Stephanie Beatriz did her final recording of "Waiting On A Miracle," she was 9 months pregnant. She gave birth 48 hours after the recording for this song was done. I guess Stephanie didn't need to wait for her little miracle that much longer! 😍😄😭
one of the best things about Encanto is that it is "singable". Most of the songs in Disney movies (e.g. frozen) are really high or hold notes for a while, but in Encanto it is easier for normal people (not just professionals) to sing along. The hardest bit to sing is the high note on the end of "Waiting on a Miracle", and that's just one note. Encanto is definitely one of the most relatable (not the magic of course) Disney movies, like how Luisa feels the pressure of expectations and Mirabel feels left out, but she still keeps up the happy act.
I dunno, to me the hard bit's around the middle of the song in around 5:58 That's 15 measures of straight song being belted out without taking a breath. Correct me if I'm wrong, but it sounds like everything from "All I know is I can't..." to "I would move the mountains," is all sung in a single breath. The quality of Stephanie Beatriz's vocal prowess really can't be overstated.
They are singable in terms of range. But the songs themselves are hard to do well, coz they are fast and require a lot of breath. I, however, love them too coz I can reach all the notes.
@@FluuuffInari I think it’s why they don’t make her sing louder in the lyrics “look in my eyes” part since it would be difficult to then transition quickly into the next lines breath wise
In terms of the house being, uh, involved, in future generation creation, they do say that Casita has no real power inside the bedrooms. Like Casita can't help Mirabel when she goes into one of the rooms.

I feel like this movie makes most people cry cuz most people can relate to a strict/disappointed parental figure. I think most people know that type of sadness. I was a sobbing mess watching this movie.

When she sings this part: open your eyes open your eyes open your eyes I would move the mountains. That is done in one breath. Impressive isn’t Stephanie Beatriz is a great singer

You should watch a clip of Stephanie Beatriz’s voice on Brooklyn Nine-Nine. It really shows you her vocal range when you compare her character on the show versus her voice in this movie!!
the nasal resonance makes sense for this character- i mean, it's a middle aged woman voicing a 15 year old, it's perfect ✨ also! spoilers!!! it always makes me cry knowing that her tío bruno was listening to her sing this after all he did to protect her from the things she's singing about 😭
The voice actress for Mirabel is Stephanie Beatriz (Most known for her role in Brooklyn 99) and her voice is generally that nasal, including when she talks!
Not to take away from Stephanie but she didn't sound good here. This wasn't one of the songs that I liked. It doesn't hit me the same way other Disney princesses do when they do "their" songs. To me it wasn't strong enough. Not in the sense of what people may think of strong but it just doesn't connect. It's a good song but with her singing it that way it just doesn't sound right to me. What's interesting is when they did a video guessing Disney songs with the actors of Encanto she actually sang Belle from Beauty and the Beast(because that was one of the songs) and she sounded JUST like Belle. She sounded beautiful there and not nasally at all. I don't know if her voice is naturally nasally(like you said) but all I could think of is why didn't she sing like THAT for this song?!?! That's my opinion though.
@@sarahprince2412 me too! I couldn't enjoy the song much because the nasal quality was overpowering for me. It kinda made it sound like she's struggling with singing to me even if she isn't at all. I don't think this song suited her strengths at all. I loved how her voice sounded at the high note and then the last line after that, I wish the song was catered to her voice.
But to be honest this song is where she is voicing about her insecurity and she is not suppose to be a singer in the movie so i don't see any problem in here i think this suit her character more
Glad I wasn’t the only one. It sounded like she didn’t try here or that she didn’t sound good at all. What sucks is the the melody was really amazing too
"How do they make more children?" So, dunno if you realized it in the video or not, and it's sorta obviously said later in the movie but, Casita cant see/interact with the insides of the family's rooms. The only reason it can interact with Mirabelle is because that's the nursery, which is considered a part of Casita while the other rooms are not... So casita cant see the birds and the bees happening
I see a lot of people saying this, but the only indication we get implying this may be the case iz casita being unable to interact with Bruno's room. However, it could just as easily be because his door has lost its light that casita can't interact with it.
@@DoctorOaks the scene earlier, inside the bedroom of the oldest sister, sort of looks like the casita is working there. It doesn’t seem to do anything inside the new jungle biome though.
You should watch her in "In The Heights". She has a smaller role, but def still the same-ish sound. If you listen to "Carnaval del Barrio" or "96,000" or "No Me Diga".

I think it’s really cool you’re using this format for the song reactions. I’ve seen other reactions where they just listen to the songs without watching the film, and they miss out on so much context.
ive heard her sing other things and she's definitely doing the more nasally sound for Mirabel. these songs are hard to sing and especially with a character voice but she does it amazingly and it still SOUNDS like Mirabel the whole way through.

I didn't like the phrygian scale they had her on in the beginning of the song at first, but after listening a few time, i can hear the way it makes the rest of her song impactful

The theory on why Mirabel didn’t get a gift was because she wiped her hands on her dress after she touched the candle and before she touched the door. So practically she got a power but it’s now on the dress!
I thought the gift was that she helped everyone realize that the “miracle” isn’t the house or the gifts but their family. Abuelo Pedro died so his family could live, and I thought the reason her dress looks like the candle is because she is the fulfillment of the miracle. The “Dos Oruguitas” song is about two caterpillars in love, and Mirabel is the growth and beauty of their love-a butterfly. The whole house is filled with butterfly decor because it all came out of the love Pedro had for his family. I mean, everyone is a miracle because they would have died or never been born if Pedro hadn’t sacrificed himself for them.
This song gives me chills no matter how many times I hear it. It’s just so gorgeous. Lin did an amazing job with this song and they got the perfect voice actor for Mirabel. Definitely my favourite song in the movie
She's in Brooklyn 99, but more importantly you should do a video comparing her in "In The Heights" since theyre both musicals and she sings differently in both! So talented regardless
I also have a suggestion: Step back by GOT the beat! They’re a group of amazingly talented kpop female idols all originally from different groups (or solo in BoAs case), I think you’d really be impressed with their vocals considering they’re from a company known for their vocally talented idols.

the "nasal sound" is the character sound that stephanie beatriz give to Mirabel, i hear she sing Belle and Rapunzel in more "Disney" sound and her voice is completely different is awesome how much control she has
I like that the singers in this movie are more relatable. It feels more natural that a 15 year old would be singing in this manner then in previous movies where the singer was very glamorous and airy.
I've seen every Disney movie, I'm a huge fan of their movies and after my first viewing of this movie, it jumped up into my top 5 favorite Disney movies of all time. After a few more views, it definitely cemented itself as one of my top 5 Disney movies. It's absolutely beautiful.
