i agree w you SO much. i don’t get how ppl think this didn’t deserve to win. the vocals were there, the modern and traditional combo made it so refreshing and it reminded me of how eurovision used to be before most countries just tried to replicate main stream north american pop songs. i love this
I think no matter what song they wouldve won, but this fortunately is a great song which is imo one of the few worthy ones there. Tho i did prefer australlia's. Not taking credit away from them though, congrats to them. It is a very good song
It's not that it wasn't good, I love the song and the performance was great, but was it the BEST there? I just can't see how you could say it is. They received 439 points from the public votes alone, which is not only the most amount of public votes in Eurovision history, but it's the most BY A LOT. If you genuinely believe that this song is BY FAR the best Eurovision song in HISTORY, then sure, I can respect your opinion, but it doesn't even come in my top 30, and I feel like most people share this feeling.
It has deeper meaning than that. Many eastern European families unfortunately used to get into position where father would start drinking and leave or stay and physically/psychologically abuse the family and often a mom would be the power that pushed through the hardships and bring the kids to brighter future. While it doesn't mention in the song, but overall very deep respect of mothers in eastern Europe is originated from this.
As a Ukrainian who is in Ukraine right now, I have to say that this overwhelming support from all European countries meant a lot to us! We don't have a lot of reasons to celebrate right now, and this was very meaningful! I love the song, I loved UK, Spain, Sweden songs very much too! But in these times we're very grateful for any kind of support 💙💛 even winning a song contest. It's also a way for us to tell more people about what's happening here right now. Day after the win Kalush Orchestra released a video for the song filmed in Kyiv, Bucha and Borodianka, cities totally destroyed by russian troops.
I voted for you because you need the world support and simply because i loved the music. Our folklore have similarities, even in clothes. For exemple the music from spain did nothing for me. Love from Portugal 🇵🇹❤🇺🇦
@@naturezanimal I preferred Italy and voted for it. In no way does that mean I don't support Ukraine. I do. I have donated and support them any way I can. That doesn't include voting in a freakin song contest. Ukraine pretty much knows we support them without a song contest.
I was in the crowd this year, and the live performance was FUCKING GREAT. The lights were incredible and the singing was amazing, it just felt so alive.
I have to say people are ALWAYS pissed with the winner. Maybe in 2012 when Loreen from Sweden won was the only time I remember no one was really pissed. Thanks for your reaction! I voted for the UK, Spain and Poland from Ukraine.
I've definitely seen people being pissed about Loreen or at least complaining about all the hype over Euphoria. But maybe those came more late after the competition than during or right after it.
@@yoonglebellz really? To me she seems to be the most accepted winner and the least hated one. 😁 After that, every single year the winner would get a real wave of anger or hatred. Especially, Netta, Conchita, Jamala, Salvador..
I dont agree with you at all, out of 25 years + I ve been watching there are only a few songs that people were unsure of, this was an obvious political win, a sympathy win, tho not a horrible song, would have never won earlier...the bet sites shown even before all the songs were decided people have bet that they would win. Virtue signaling and moral masturbation, none of which will really help Ukraine but sorta ruin the credibility of the contest, this lowers the quality of each years songs because artists dont want to join a competition they obviously cannot win. ( if that makes sense at all ) this happens with also countries voting shamelessly for neighbours ; like cyprus to greece etc and if you remember north macedonia had undeserved votes few years ago, this year was just too obvious but happens often because people use this as a way to get political with votes.
The instrument that a lot of people have been mistaking to be the flute is actually a Ukrainian instrument called "Sopilka” But theres another instrument called “Telenka” ALSO I’M SO SORRY FOR CONFUSING EVERYONE INCLUDING TRISTAN GAAAAA I DIDN’T MEAN TO JUST FORGOT TO INCLUDE THE TELENKA PART :( thanks for the likes x
@@FairleyTrashed It's in the flute family but I'd say it's a mix of both flute and recorder. Very beautiful instrument, I can listen to the Tylinka part for hours!
This instrument calls "tylynka". It's a folk wind instrument, analogous to the longitudinal flute of elder or willow. It has only two open holes; the length is different, but the standard of 85 cm is used by the people who live near the Carpathian mountains (Ukrainians, Poles, Romanians, Hungarians).
I quote the translation: "Mother Stephania Stephania mother The field is blooming, but her hair is getting grey Mother, sing me the lullaby I want to hear your dear word She was rocking me as a baby, she gave me a rhythm, And you can‘t take willpower from me, as I got it from her I think she knew more than King Solomon. I‘ll always find my way home, even if all roads are destroyed She wouldn‘t wake me up even if there was a storm outside Or if there was a storm between her and grandma, She trusted me over everyone else Even when she was tired, she just kept rocking me Lully-lully-lullaby Mother Stephania Stephania mother The field is blooming, but her hair is getting grey Mother, sing me the lullaby I want to hear your dear word I‘m not a kid anymore, but she will always treat me like one I‘m not a kid anymore, but she keeps worrying about me, anytime I‘m out Mother, you are still young. If I don‘t appreciate your kindness, I‘m moving towards a dead-end But my love for you has no end. Mother Stephania Stephania mother The field is blooming, but her hair is getting grey Mother, sing me the lullaby I want to hear your dear word" ...because for me the song hits different when you understand the lyrics, or even watch theit official music video... damn.
Honestly, Eurovision is Eurovision, there are sore audience every year when someone’s favorite doesn’t win. It’s normal thing. It’s also a very small minority who starts this embarrassing conversations about who should and shouldn’t have won. You would expect them to have more restraint this year, but no. They think it’s outrageous that some people voted in solidarity with a country that is in war… like, of course they did. But the song was one of the best, so I don’t see how showing it support is a bad thing.
i don’t understand the people who are mad about Ukraine winning. of course there was some sympathy voting, no one is denying that, but isn’t that the whole point of Eurovision? it’s a friendly european musical competition that is made to promote unity and solidarity, it would’ve been a disgrace if Ukraine didn’t win! and ukraine knew that and could’ve just sent a boring ballad, but they went above and beyond with their song choice. their entry is so good, catchy, original, emotional, with elements of folklore… i’m really happy that the Ukrainian song won, bc not only did the artists deserve it, but it also sent Ukrainian people an important message of support and solidarity
The only reason I'm mad about it is because votes were fake and they didn't let some countries announce theirs because they have replaced them with others. It was extremly unfair.
Doesn't seem like u are European cause if you we're you would know it's always been a geo-political contest where countries vote each other depending on outside relationship with each other. Yes, the performances might change some votes but most of them are kept throughout the years. Obviously this year we all knew this would happen due to the situation going on in Ukraine but in my opinion it was not the best performance/song of the contest and even though it was good, it didn't deserve the win. Again, my opinion as a fellow European
@@dirtytatertot I come from a founder country here that won the first one all the way back in the 50'ths. It was explained to us this was to promote peace and coorporation in a war torn Europe after world war 2. If there is any country who could use peace and solodarity this year it's Ukraine. Non political? It never was otherwise you wouldn't have countries giving 12 points to the same one each year.
actually now that ive watched this vocal coach appreciate the artistry, I think I may have been mad if the opposite had happened: "let's not vote for Ukraine bc everybody will vote for them. I'm voting for another country" This has happened in the past, where the clear winner actually lost bc they didnt get enough votes. The song was good and it was diverse, yet balanced, and well performed. Thanks for giving them credit where credit is due.
You're so right!!! Also considering how many points Ukraine got last year and how many points Moldova got this year from the Televote, it's clear the audience likes these traditional songs. Therefore, I'm certain Ukraine would have still gotten many points even if there wasn't a war. Perhaps, they wouldn't have won but they would've probably finished top 5. Also people use the argument that the winning song just won because of politics literally every year, so it's kinda a useless argument
they did us so dirty in semis, all the good songs got booted for these ugly ballads. like say what you want about Latvia but the audience was screaming that song how did they not qualify but 0 points Switzerland did
The official video was recently released on the Kalush Orchestra channel. There are English subtitles, and the video explains the meaning of the song. The video for this song was shot in cities occupied by russian troops. So everyone really should watch! And thank you for your reaction. Hello from Ukraine! Слава Україні!
Maybe they wouldn't have won if the war wasn't going on, but we'll never know. They were top 5 in the odds even before the war broke out and they pretty much always do well. There is literally no point in speculating. All I know is it's one of the few songs I've added to a playlist this year and imo a very worthy winner! 💙💛
@@DomnulDarius They were. When Alina withdrew and it was still a rumour that Kalush will replace her Ukraine decreased but was still in the top 5. They stayed at least in the top 6 until Ukraine made it official.
Oh wow. The visuals, apart from their vocals, are beyond majestic. It’s cool to see Ukrainians joining Eurovision this year after all the bad things that went down in their country. This performance sort of symbolizes them getting back up again after dealing with such immense difficulties.
I’ve been listening to this song on repeat. It’s such a tune. And now I know the lyrics I love it even more. The whole thing is beautiful. They deserved to win xx
This is a BOP, I voted for them and think they are very deserving winners! And I'm very proud that we (UK) came second, Sam Ryder is a ledge. Poland and France were ROBBED this year
Oh, Sam Ryder, yesssss! 🥰🥰🥰 The song and performance were amazing! It’s also adorable how supportive he was towards others 😌 He’s just all warm and fuzzy haha
Agree (mostly)! I really liked the winner, and have the same feeling about France, they deserved a much better placement. Polans had a good singer but I did not like that song at all... And this is a song contest, not a SINGING contest. But all in all I thought this was a good year for ESC.
If you like Stefania, you will probably also enjoy Moldova’s song 🇲🇩 ! I personally thought those two songs were the best overall and Moldova got done dirty by the official juries!!! they received a lot of points from the public though, which I think is the best indicator of how good a song actually is. Some more Eurovision reactions I would love to see from you: Azerbaijan, Italy and Sweden! ❤️🔥
I loved Ukraine's song!!! Really happy that they won and I really do not understand why people keep saying that they did not deserve the win. Then who deserved the win?? In my opinion they were the Best: traditional mixed with pop. Yeah, there were a lot of good songs this year. Please react to Moldova!!!
Can you react to Ukraine's submission from last year... it's SO GOOD and other youtube vocal coaches have been toxic af about a vocal style they don't understand
I heavily disliked that song, but I can understand how interesting it was as a music piece, it surprises me whole professionals didn’t at least recognise that.
The rap flow was so clean! Chorus was amazing, Flute was hypnotic, dancing was great. Glad this song that represents their country won vs English Ballads that everyone else sings.
This year's Eurovision was really special for all Ukrainians and everyone here was ready for disqualification. But his words after the performance were more important than the song. Everyone were crying after this, even ukrainian commentator. I wish you looked up the video for the song they posted after the winning.
I am so happy you guys won, not just because of the situation but because the guys totally deserved it and had a phenomenal song! Ukraine always brings something new and fresh to the stage while paying homage to their roots. I hope things get better there quickly.. Love from 🇲🇪💛💙
I do agree that they won. I'm gonna say I loved Ukraine last year as well with Go_A. But the vocalist is in both groups, so they deserves it. I personally loved Serbia. I thought they had a traditional vibe as well. And of course as a Dutchie, I loved s10 as well🙏 but in general... the competition was high this year! Lots of good and fun artists
I loved Germany’s song this year. I think people were in a break when Germany was singing because i don’t understand why the song was not voted. Also Australia i liked very much. Of course there were a lot of ballads this year but sounded so good. I am having a great playlist with this year’s Eurovision songs. But Ukraine got stuck in my head. I am not biased. I am still listening to Go_A Shum by the way 😅 P.S Netherlands is stuck in my head as well. Love that song!!!
@@raluvibes I think the German song was terrible but maybe I'm biased xD but I loved the Netherlands this year and last year's Ukrainian song was amazing!!
Totally agree! Serbia’s performance is sooo creative! And when it comes to S10… damn, I expected her to be in the top 5! She sounds like an angel 🥰 Also loved that the song is in Dutch
Congrats to the British audience! They all are showing the world how to enjoy a silver medal without complaining with ' the real winner is....' Really really fair players, congrats again 🇮🇹
In my opinion, there's always a lot of people who get mad at the winning song and they always write "so undeserved" etc. on social media. But this year, those people seem to have a concrete reason (invasion of Ukraine) why this song won, so the uproar online gets way more intense. I think that Ukraine wouldn't have won under regular circumstances, because Europe tends to choose regular Pop songs as winners. But as you said, this song manages to combine traditional and modern elements, so honestly, it is the perfect winner for Eurovision.
I think you forget the Maidan, Odessa 2014, that ukrain attacked and bombed Luhanks, Donezk and so far for 8 years. Yeah, who cares about the real victime, hmm? My mother is Ukrainian and I have family in Kiev and other western Part of Ukraine but I think Russia do it right. ANd don't forget there are Nazis in Ukraine. And I know how ugly the ukrainian Televion talk about the children in the east Ukraine, know Luhanks and Donezk. How they talked about the victims in Odessa 2014. Yeah.... really ugly... but maybe for you Folks is nice? I really don't get it.

Hello, Tristan! Thank you so much for your reaction. I've been watching you for 5 years and I am so so happy right now. Thank you for your profecionalism, for everything. So much love from Ukraine, Thank you!
Thank you for the interesting commentary on it! I saw so many people hating on Ukraine and Ukrainians in general because their favs didn't win while forgetting what the contest is supposed to be about - bringing unity and promoting friendship between nations. And to those who say that now the contest has become political - it's always had politics in it (e.g. songs with subtle political lyrics, political bloc voting, countries refusing to participate because of Israel - I mean, you can find a whole Wikipedia article about it). Still, for some reason, everyone gets mad only when it involves Ukraine. Our country is very proud of this song and Kalush Orchestra, and this song became a symbol of hope and love here. We're waiting for the day when we can sing it to celebrate our victory in this horrific war. And we're incredibly grateful to everyone who supported us in any way. Thank you and slava Ukraini!
I swear when saw the thumbnail I was 100% ready to go into full proud European mode and gatekeep Eurovision from unappreciative clueless Americans, but Tristan doesn’t disappoint Anyways, great hair!
You don’t have to gatekeep anything, you’ve got it all wrong. 🇺🇸’n here. This performance is musical genius bringing elements that Americans ❤️. Eminem influence mixed with folk and instrumental(like what the Irish bring to their music)I believe if this song got some radio play, it would become an instant hit. I’ve had it on repeat for 2 days. Add in the ❤️and respect 🇺🇸now has for 🇺🇦, citizens would play it even if it is in a different language. 🇺🇸 is full on devotion right now and is craving to know more about 🇺🇦culture, sucking in every little tidbit of information we can get🥰
@@lorigoetz4078 I said it just bc the thumbnail made it look like he was weirded out by Stefania winning, I fully support Americans getting into Eurovision with actual interest!
As somebody who visited Ukraine 9 times, spend several weeks and visited some 35 cities all across the Ukraine... this actually captures Ukraine so well. Ukraine always to me was always impressive. THey might not be the richests of countries, but their cities were (are) well kept. And each city hads lots of statues, street art, murals. They built statues to poets... or bee keepers or trees. In Odessa, there is museum with has display of statues of folk and fairy tale characters. Ukrainians wear vyshyvankas (traditional embroided blouses) to rock concerts. You can find restaurants that serve varenyky (traditional dumplings) and borsch (beet soup) alongside of sushi and pizza. Ukraine was never afraid to embrace modernity while having a tight grasp on their roots. okay, i am going to cry for 30 minutes now. Thanks for the video.
With the official video this song gots a new meaning. There are English subtitles. Please, have a look on their official channel ‘Kalush Orchestra’. It worth. And I am very proud they released the video AFTER the competition. I cried a lot, as I am Ukrainian and I personally saw the same destructions in other villages & cities. And I rewatched that video for several times to understand 4 different stories shown.
They released a video for the song the day after the finale. You should check it out because it also has subtitles for the song (and get some tissues because everyone I know who has watched it cryied like a baby)
im from Russia, and i truly found this song beautiful, as well as last year’s song. the thing is, i even learnt lyrics, not sure if im pronouncing them right, but i love it with all my heart. Just want to send Ukraine love and support from me and all my friends. the war is terrifying, and im devastated that i cannot help in any way except writing comments on youtube. hope mr p**in leaves finally, for the sake of the whole world, and for the sake of russian people who he has put in jail for speaking their truth. 🕊🇺🇦
Kalush Orchestra deserved to win as much as Sam Ryder did, people using the war as a reason to take away from Ukraine's win are literally the worst. They won the televoting by a landslide because that song is actually amazing!! And most importantly, this win would have meant more for Ukraine rather than the UK, you don't see Sam Ryder or the people for UK complaining about it.
Well I can see your point. We have to be completely honest thou.. would Ukraine have won if there wasn't a war? It's a factor that played to their advantage, big time. And to support the country in their current situation people have voted for Ukraine (due to the song AND their situation). I get that, it's moral and we all sympatize, they had and still have a really rough time. Only love for Ukraine. I just think that UK would have won if there was peace. But i'm very glad if the result gave courage and support to the people of Ukraine. It's just that we have to be honest that the televoting WAS very political. But then again it always kinda is. Love the winner, love UK. It's just my opinion, I hope we can all express ourselves without judgement. love from Belgium
@@ALL.edits. how i see it is that Sam's final performance of Spaceman was probably his best till date, along with that amazing guitar solo, plus he seems like a super friendly and likeable person which is why we loved him in the finale. However, the studio version of the song by itself does not have the same energy. On the other hand, Kalush Orchestra has given almost the same performance of Stefania every single time (i personally liked their setup for the national qualification more than the Eurovision setup), but the studio version of the song is super catchy - specifically that musical bit on the Telenka. I'm Indian and our country isn't a member in Eurovision, but even in a non-war condition, I personally see KalushOrchestra still winning since Stefania is a more catchy song.
@@Valentina-vy6xc I loved Sam too. On and of the podium, seems indeed like a great likeable guy. I don't mind that the studio version is a bit different than the live performance. Because people judgement gets most influenced by their last (the final) performance ( I could be wrong, love to be haha. Than I learn something new). Althou I am 'allergic' to the word 'catchy' when people talk about songs, I'm seeing your point. They represent their country very well and added different aspects of their culture in the performance (from the clothes to the flute,...). I like it because of the chorus is very memorabel, alterned with the rap. Plus that's in their own language (normally not soo much into that but in this song I love it). Still dunno why(probelly just taste), I could see UK more as a winner and some other countries like Switserland and Germany (for example) were soooo underrated and didn't got enough credit. They were sooo beautiful but hadn't received many points from the public... why? I don't get it. Ukraine did put them unwillingly a bit in the shadows I think
To be fair, Eurovision votes are usually very politically motivated. And no matter how good or bad the Ukrainian entry was going to be, they were expected to place high because of the political support. I don't think there is a point in being upset about it. I like the fact that the political messaging of Eurovision was used for good here.
Just search youtube for reactions to this song months before this win and you will see that everyone was very pleasantly surprised and loved the song. And no one was politically motivated. This song is unique, beautiful, excellent vocals, perfectly combining traditional and modern music and dance, and it was very catchy and quite a spectacle. Their performance was very artistic unlike some singers just singing in English a famous song.
@@sweetvictory5643 I am sure you are right, I am not trying to take away from the artistry. I am just saying that Ukraine would have very likely had a similarly excellent results with a far worse song because Eurovision voting is and has always been heavily political.
@@jennybachmann9047 just to clarify, there’s a genocide going on in Ukraine. At least 20000 civilians have been killed in less than 3 months in just one city (with a population of 500k). Calling this ‘politics’ is like calling holocaust politics.
Plz do a Sam Ryder/UK reaction! Loved that Ukraine won - their song was epic and it was a beautiful thing overall. But Sam’s would love to see a reaction to to Sam’s performance.
You should react to the netherlands their entry, de diepte by S10, her vocals were incredible in the grand final! And it was the first dutch song in 12 years i believe so it was a big big deal
You could also react to the German Eurovision song. It landed on the last place with only 6 points. I would find it interesting to know if you think their ranking was deserved. Love your videos 💕
I think Germany's song is sooo boring every year, sounds always the same and they are trying to americanise so much but since many people don't like how German sounds it wouldn't be a good idea either to again use a German song xD
Germany, as well as Switzerland, had great singers but sang a song that didn’t resonate with the audience. The lyrics were a bit cliche and empty, in my opinion. I hope to see them again with other songs that do better.
I totally agree with you! The mix of modern and traditional, the flute, the performance! Everything was amazing and it deserved the win, or, at least, the third or second place! And the vocals, THE VOCALS! God! They are REALLY good
You should react to Spain after the UK! You will get cray with how she managed to sing with all the insane choreography. They finished 3rd behind the UK.
Hi! as a Spanish person I'm honestly so proud of what we brought to eurovision this year, our performer was given SO MUCH shit here in spain when she was chosen to go, some politicians even tried to boycott her, change her lyrics, etc (ofc they are congratulating her now) , but she was amazing tbh,, you should definitely react to her bc she worked her ass off to be able to sing and dance and sound fantastic
Hi from Germany. Just wanted to say that I was SO, SO impressed with her. I'm usually more into the acoustic, folksy stuff, so the song wasn't really for me, but her performance was so stunning that I just went: Wow, she's really effing talented. The vocals were difficult to begin with and combining that with the amount of choreography she had to do and acing both and being incredibly charismatic on top of that... seriously amazing. Didn't know that people were boycotting her beforehand. Now I respect her even more. Anyways, just felt the need to say: You SHOULD be really proud! :)
@@RoibenRocks hii yea that's kind of my case too!! the song genre isn't my typical thing at ALL (though i lean more into rock/old school hip hop/classic oldies) but how stable she sounded, the fact that you didn't hear her be out of breath for a split second, the power she put into each one of the choreo moves... she is not j a singer she's a performer :) and yea it was very sad to watch the media and politicians rip her apart, mainly bc the two other finalists of the contest through which ppl chose the eurovision representative both leaned more towards the political protest act and it seemed as if that alone made them worthier? or better artists than chanel... our national tv here even tried to have her song lyrics changed because they ""incited prostitution"", that's how far people went to diminish her,,, thank goodness her artistry shone through all of it in the end!! :)
I honestly hated that song. Lyrics were awful and the beat was so generic. It was probably the worst one of the night. She could dance tho, so big points for that. But I’m a little more ”conservative” when it comes to music. I want deep lyrics and a talented singer.
@@Garsnoos obvi the song sounded like every other pop song you hear on the radio these days,, but what does it for me is that half of spain was hating on her not even wanting to give her a chance, and she nailed the whole performance -singing aside - in such a way, and managed to give us such a good score,, that all those cruel comments on things as uncalled for as her nationality (she's of cuban ascendency) had to go mute at last
Could you explain the hype around Serbia for me? I was so confused. Didn’t think it was good vocals at all and was soooo surprised by the crazy good voting for them. 😀 What am I missing?
@@outdoorhannah It's not about the vocals. it's about the performance and the meaning behind it and the lyrics. The song is about how society focuses on external beauty and how obsessed we all are about it (What is the secret behind Meghan Markle's healthy hair?). Meanwhile, it's our mental health that's suffering. She keeps repeating "The artist must be healthy" which is, again, mostly referring to physical health, while mental health is often disregarded completely. The final lyrics sum it up pretty well, you just have to look it up (beyond the hand-washing, which is something everyone seems to be focusing on): "The body is healthy, so what do we do now? A sick mind in a healthy body A sad soul in a healthy body A desperate mind in a healthy A frightened mind in a healthy body So what do we do now?" That's what the hype is about.
@@tay_s27 love the message! Thank you for the explanation. :) it’s great to use Eurovision as a platform for important messages like that. So thumbs up for that, I was personally just a bit more touched by the incredible vocalists that hit me right in the feels..
You should also react to "SPACE MAN" by Sam Ryder (UK's 🇬🇧 representative this year) and "SloMo" by Chanel (Spain's 🇪🇸 representative). They came 2nd and 3rd, respectively. They were absolutely fantastic 😌!
I would love to see you react to Belgium!! Thanks for the great vocal reactions btw. You're really good at making the technical things understandable. :)
You are absolutely right! this is a perfect preference for the eurovision. Has all the elements we need in a song. (all the mean comments about them winning coming mostly from Russians, that got kicked out of the eurovision due to war crimes)❤🇺🇦
Ukraine winning the Eurovision is a declaration of European love, it's symbolic and the overwhelming support from all European countries means so much, seeing people cheer for them made me cry. It's nice to have something like that to celebrate, I'm really happy they won!
When you mentioned visiting Ukraine I remembered your old Ukrainian vlogs from the balcony, I agree with you so much! They deserved to win both politically and musically, the performance was amazing and refreshing, this was Europe declaring its love and support for Ukraine 💙💛
Im from Sweden. Loved the song, the sound, the rap 😊 thats it, got my vote or two😅👀 Grew up with all kind of music and this song just gave me good vibes.
Could you react to Germany? I’d like to hear you opinion, because I really can’t understand why the singer got the last place. He really sung with so much emotions.
It's easy : average staging + boring song. It's been 20 years that hundreds and hundreds of very similar songs sung by forgettable singers who had a very similar voice are played all the time on radio everywhere. No energy to make people move, no positivity to make people smile, no uniqueness or quirkiness to make people curious, no shiny or charismatic scenic presence to facinate people ... it just fall flat in nearly every single metric with a bloody strong feeling of "déjà-vu".
Please do more Eurovision reactions, it doesn’t even have to be 2022, it can be older ones as well, not enough people react to Eurovision that much and I’m glad you’ve picked up on it now!
As a Ukrainian, I am glad that Kalush orchestra won, however I didn’t want them to win just for political reasons. To me,this contest is about music in the first place and there were many great performers who deserved to win too. I understand that many votes were given to Ukraine as a gesture of support, but I really think that this song is great, and a great representation of our culture. Thanks to everyone who supported Ukraine 🙏
I'm Australian, I've always loves Ukraine's entries. This year I watched with the subtitle translation and the war obviously made the meaning a lot deeper. But as someone who loves their mum this song would have won anyways for me. She was diagnosed with cancer a month before the contest and this song had me sobbing. It is an absolutely beautiful song and deserved to win regardless of the war. I am really glad they won and got support... But this is one of my all time favourite songs 💙💛🕊️
I totally agree with you! The song is good, and Ukraine deserve our support in every way possible. Also, I wonder if you listened to the song from the Republic of Moldova. I would really like if you could react to it. Have a nice day everyone 💓
I was one of the people who was "pissed" that uk didnt win. But tbh you really changed my opinion on how i think about it, and I think its a really poistive and good approach to those sort of things.
I recommend everyone in this comment section to watch the official video for this song. It has the eng sub, by the way. You’ll develop the whole new meaning of it. A rollercoaster of feelings.
I absolutely agree!!! Stefania is an absolute banger and it absolutely deserved the win!! It's so catchy and the performance is amazing. Would love to see you react / break down more songs from this year! As Lithuanian I'd ofc love to see you comment on Monika's vocals >>
As a Polish person I truly loved this performance also trying to understand what they're saying. I might be too emotional tho and I was crying while they were on stage- yet I won't be lying - I loved both song and performance of Ukraine the most.
Slavic folk chanting is often very high. Ukraine entry last year (Shum) had the same technique called "white voice". Poland had an entry entirely sung in that technique a few years ago but didn't qualify if I remember correctly. So if you are from around this area of Europe, you don't really feel it's high....for us it's what we are used to hearing and it's normal so it never stood out to me personally actually.
I'm so glad Ukraine won honestly it really just feels like an amazing show of solidarity and also the song is a banger! I'd love to see your opinions on the other top 5 this year because they're all pretty fantastic and the competition was super close, also I feel like you could give us some interesting thoughts and opinions on the other acts vocal techniques (particularly Sam Ryder's but maybe that's my bias talking haha!)
Hey but it is song conquest not solidarity festival... it was so obvious, that Ukraine will win no matter the song. I am sorry for other great artists like Sam Ryder, guy from Australia, The Rasmus, Sweden... Germany was also very good and they were the last! But no matter how good would they be, they had no chances with nationality this year.
@@Thermuthis it does matter the song, if they used the germany song, they wouldnt have won, we cant pretend that most of the juries and televote were just because of the war, that doesnt have any sense
@@maksymdegtiarov8425 this would have never won if not the war. I think UK would be the winner. That is why I am sorry for the rest of the good artists, they hadn't got any chances, it was so badly obvious who would win this year. Wondering in which city will be next Eurovision and who will pay for it. For sure not Ukraine.
@@Thermuthis they would have won, they were in the top 5 favorites even before the war started, and to lose to the uk, ukraine would need to get half of their televotes points, and less then moldova, which is impossible. No matter how political you think it was, ukraine would have won either way this year.
@@maksymdegtiarov8425 of course not, because people were voting because of the war not the song. It would be probably in first 6 places but not the first. There were many songs like that before- folk +modern music and never have won. Ukraine would win even singing twinkle little star. Well at least some of the people in Europe discovered Ukraine on the map, suddenly we all have to love everything what ukrainian is. Lots of people have really enough of it, and I am closer to it than any other country in Europe. Now you should know my nationality.
Ukraine has come with amazing music before, like have you heard shum from last year? She was able to sing so beautifully while missing part of her lung btw Folk inspired music hits me so hard always. Curious to see if you react to moldova (extremely fun, highly recommend), Serbia, france or Norway (again, really fun) Oh and maybe react to a song called Terra, it was a song the public in Spain loved but slo mo was send instead so I'm really curious to see whatcha think about that if possible. Great video ^^
My fav this year was Italy, but I knew that they weren't gonna win. I'm glad it was Ukraine because this year's ESC final was just... boring. Ballads were overwhelming to say the least and Kalush Orchestra was something different. I have to say tho my absolute favorite performance was the first semi-final interval act "Fai Rumore". I got chills, you should check it out!
The Ukrainian song was absolutely brilliant; creative modern contemporary art with moments of traditional quality and a magnificent performance. They really deserved to win this. Like totally. 🎵😃🎶👍
I liked Ukraine last Year and Loved it this Year. I am not biased. The flute part is stuck in my head. I will be listening to this for a while now :D But these Year had amazing songs. I can't make a top 5, honestly :))
I love this and i completly agree!! the argument that makes me the most mad is when they say that they shouldn't have won because ''no one actually liked the song'' I LOVED this song since i first listened to it, like i did with Ukraine last year bc they had a similar vibe. I'm not gonna deny that they probably got a lot of votes from the siutuation Ukraine is going through right now (sending all my love and support to Ukrainian people btw!!
