Hello this is Tre walker and I am a drummer and a solid Christian and I love the lord. I just saw your reaction to oh, come all ye faithful. And you did a phenomenal job. I cannot sing. I’m only joking. But but I’d like to get better . Can you help me
ummmm... can we talk about the fact that he held that note for a total of 25 seconds...of which 11 seconds was at the higher note!!! This is unimaginably hard!
That’s the crazy thing about Voctave to me. Almost any of them could be the lead singer of their own group, they are that talented individually, but they choose to sing together. In their live performance of “Anything you can do, I can do better”, you get a chance to hear their voices individually. I think you would enjoy 😉
I saw Voctave perform this live this past weekend. As amazing the recording is, the live performance is just gripping. The whole audience was hanging on every note and all attention was given to the moment, not one particular voice (though EJ is just on point throughout). No smartphones were out, no one was chattering amongst each other. We all knew something special was being presented onstage. What a special way to center us and celebrate the season. Merry Christmas!
@@Juss10sMom - I'm so late to the party on this - but Mark also sings a phrase on the same breath prior to holding his note, so he sings roughly 21 seconds on the single breath. Not taking away from the note held in this song... incredible, but give that 60 year old man his credit.
One thing I really noticed about the soloist is his ability to also be a blended member of the chorus. He moved silently/effortlessly from soloist to an “invisible” blended member of the chorus and then back into the soloist light. Amazing finesse!
I love Voctave so much. I had such a visceral reaction to this performance. Just burst into tears like an idiot at the end of this. 😍😍😍 It was amazing.
I cry at almost every one of their songs..... When I was in high school I used to be embarrassed when I would tear up watching plays or singing in choir or when I heard an amazing voice. Well I still do it, but I let it fly now.... I am a ex-singer, I traveled and sang from age 12-18, then I got married and wanted to raise a family with my husband so I gave up traveling.... I am 60 now and do not sing for engagements anymore, but I still cry at amazing voices. Voctave is (I would say) one of the best in the U.S.
Now you need to watch "Voctave - O Come, O Come Emmanuel/The First Noel/I Wonder As I Wander ". Lot's of solo work especially from their first soprano.
Tara u look very stunning at first... Second this voices are so amazing.... That breath slice it so beautiful... And to not mention a higher note in the continue of that.... Great choice and thanks for shared it with us 😘😘😘
My Lord I was just listening to this for the 3rd time on repeat 😲😲 too many moments of shivers, so can't even pinpoint timestamps. But damn, this is beautiful.
Not sure where you are in the US but a number of Voctave perform at Disney Epcot in the American Adventure under the name The Voices of Liberty. They perform acapella under a dome ceiling and they sound even better (hard to believe I know!). It's a must every time I visit!
He held that last note for 24.74 seconds!!! Wow!!!!! That was Amazing!!!! I had to use my stopwatch cuz I was to shocked to do it mentally!! The breath started at "The" Lord. Thanks for sharing this and all your videos. Have you done a reaction video to Angelina Jordan? Check out her video when she was 10 y/o "I put a spell on you" & her music now as a 13 y/o is Gorgeous too!!
The first time I heard this song, right after they first released their Christmas album, "Snow" on Spotify about a year ago, I LITERALLY started cry due to how moved I was listening to their version of this song. Having binged Voctave for hours on end, this is honestly my favorite song they have ever done! ❤❤❤❤❤
The guy doing lead is insanely talented and has such a pleasing voice. Perfect choice to sing lead. That last note he holds made me dizzy listening to him. Can a Singer do circular breathing like a wind player? Crazy amount of lung capacity if not. Awesome reaction Tara. Sometimes just seeing your unspoken reaction speaks volumes (pun intended). Watching you get overly excited on those perfect moments gets me more into the song. Thanks for being you. Love your channel.
I heard them sing this live last Weds. They had a spontaneous standing ovation at the end of this song. Many, including me, had tears in their eyes at the song's conclusion.
I've been watching your videos as well as other music reactors videos for a while, but you are definitely the most knowledgeable and vocally talented one I've seen yet. I love your videos 💕
3:43 is such a great chord progression, amazing dissonance and payoff Also your reaction to that chord was exactly what I did there! It's so cool to see I'm not the only one that has such nerdy reactions to these types of things. Love the vids, I always learn something!
This is AMAZING! Support is key. I loved the way he started out soft on the word 'come and slowly crescendoed. Yes, they work so well together as one unit, no one overshadowing the other. The pauses, the phrasing, etc, etc, etc, etc. Beautiful! And always emphasizing who they're singing about. A beautiful call to worship the Lord. ❤❤❤
Tara ... this is the 3rd straight video I've seen of yours, with your reactions to my FAVORITE acapella group, Voctave. I love all that they do, and had devoured their sound and videos. But then to stumble across your reactions videos of them and others, I finally hit subscribe. As an aging musician with zero formal training, I do have such a love and ear for acapella, harmonizing, quartet and choir vocals. With a 5yr stint directing a church choir and orchestra in my distant past, I now am realizing how much I miss vocalizing with a group. Oh to have the chance again to be in a studio, or to lead rehearsals and bring a group to be better than they think they can be! Thank you for giving me some taste of 'wouldve-shouldve-couldve' :)
Utter joy to join Tara experiencing moments of musical pleasure, the enthusiasm is so infectious and the knowledge of vocal production wonderfully enlightening. Thank you for sharing.
My dream is to be coached by Tara! Jesus, she knows what shes doin! Genually watch these videos just to hear her amazing comments. And they are all very accurate! Cheers!
I watch this video at least twice a week, either through this channel or on Voctave's channel. I LOVE his voice, but I LOVE your reaction to it as well! Thanks for sharing your passion not only for proper singing technique, but also for sharing your love for beautiful vocals.
You look beautiful Tara 💜 and I was so touched by your reaction to this Voctave masterpiece. Such an emotional connection to this song for me as performed by these superstars! Thank you for your review 😊
I love it when Tara geeks out about what we hear! And I love the explanations! These reactions are fantastic! I'm finding so many new groups I will geek out over!
Tara, love your reaction videos so much! Please consider reacting to Voctave singing our National Anthem. As a Vietnam veteran this game chills! Powerful and just enough “new”! Thank you!
Yay. 🎆You are just awesome.❤but now you have to react to their O come O come Emmanuel /The first Noel /I Wonder as I Wander. You'll love it🎶🎵.. And you are so beautiful😍
He held that note for 25 seconds... from an F4 to a C5 that’s impressive for a guy and I guess since he is a bass that makes it more impressive i think
I don't know in what world would he be a bass. He is a clear tenor and at that a very high tenor. His tone is both very light and bright and androgynous. It also sits high. A tenor altino.
He's a Tenor Adam. Im more Baritone (more in the middle of tenor and bass) and there are some notes he did, namely in the last verse and chorus that i wouldnt even dream of hitting😂
Not to mention that last section (where he goes to a soft, non-belted Bb4) wasn't even in head voice or falsetto but rather a non-belted M1 (the mechanism in which you do belting and chest voice). Very impressive to go that high with control. Most tenors struggle to do it above their primo passaggio (for EJ it is at F4; again as I said a tenor altino). And Marcus, vocal range is not based on vocal type. You can get your belts even above C5 as a baritone, and even a bass-baritone. It will just take a bit more work.
If you’re in Atlanta next weekend, they are doing a holiday concert just down the road in Forsyth on the 15th! They don’t get out of Florida often so it is definitely gonna be a treat! Their concerts are always so much fun, and it would be cool to hear your reactions on seeing them live!
Thank you so much for reviewing! It was like looking in a mirror in terms of reaction...like what just happened at the end?!?! Love, love Voctave and you’re gorgeous too!
E.J. held that note for almost 25 seconds. That was very impressive indeed, but there's another video (called "Voctave - Anything You Can Do [from Annie Get Your Gun] " that Tony (the smallest guy, with gray hair on top left of your video) held a note for 33 seconds. You should at least check it out, it's a very funny video. Kate also did a very high note there.
your reaction is so nice! fangirl! knowing how knowledgable and skilled you are, your appreciation for Voctave is appreciated by all who watch your videos.... brava!
I've seen this video dozens of times and I can't express the amount of joy I receive from watching your emotional response. It's like an incredible artist that is able to convey their emotions to everyone. Thank you again and again. #tarasimonstudios
Tara, love your channel, would love for you to react to Voctave The Impossible Dream. We rarely get to hear Tiffany Coburn solo, and wow she has a great voice!
Tara, I enjoy watching your reactions to this video almost as much as I love watching the video itself. Your exclamation at the end - "Shut up! What the heck just happened?!" - was exactly my reaction, too! I've probably watched this Voctave video about 100 times and I'm so glad you got a chance to see it! I think all of us Voctave fans would love to hear your reactions after attending a live performance, but in the meantime, a reaction to the video of them in the studio recording an arrangement of The Star Spangled Banner (ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-2XVrVoUoZoE.html) would be a treat.
I would love to hear you analyze something by Christina Aguilera. It would be interesting to hear a professionals opinion on all her runs, riffs, and growls.
The beauty of choral music!! All the pieces working together - none more important than the other! That is why I sooooo love choral music - the opportunity to be a part of an amazing "team"!
YEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!! This is the first video I've seen you react to where you didn't stop in the middle, which shows just how incredible this video is. Love your reaction!
I have never seen you so excited before. They always know who needs to be where and when. This has to be my most favourite reaction to this I have seen. By the way... looking good!!
Looking flawless madam. And I love watching you react to them singing. It's nice to see others getting emotionally whipped by their voices. They are truly blessed and gifted
I have been wanting to send this one to you since it was posted. SO glad to see your reaction because I've been listening to it over and over... goosebumps every time, LOL. Thanks, Tara, for your tips and expertise!
