Not only are you beautiful but your explanation on frequency and resonance was amazing. Although I am not a singer I do want to improve the frequency and resonate of my voice so I am doing these exercises. You have such control over your resonate its amazing. You gained a subscriber. Hope you don't mind.
Hi Walter white, Thanks so much for your comment. I'm happy to hear that you liked the explanation, and no I do not mind gaining a subscriber at all ;)
@sifat 21 yeah it deserves more likes than Mr. Cool guy 🤧 He is Givin me a simp vibe 😂😂 someone's teaching got nothing to do with how beautiful is she looking..? 😅 Is it? Nope 😶 This guy just to get his reply give her banging comment if he'd want to... He will knock door 🚪 sooner may be even broke it 😂😂😂👏🏻
I have to agree, when I first saw her I was like “she looks a lot like I would if I didn’t dye my hair and color my eyebrows pink...but so much prettier”
Thank you SO much. For the first time a human being actually made everything clear. I've been frustrated for so long and lost, and for the first time I'm hearing someone explaining this SO clear.
I'm suffering from neck tension pls give tips , I'd buy an online course or pay a vocal coach but fact is I'm poor so I can't afford that but I really love singing but this tension is annoying! Pls help
Just discovered your videos and they are so simple yet so effective. I am not a singer but work with clients for confidence in presentations interviews etc and have known for a long time that it's not only 'all in the mind' since one's internal voice perception has a massive influence on how confident you feel. Thank you these are such good fun as well.
Hi Roger Foxwell, Tank you so much for taking the time to write me this message. I am so happy to hear that you find the videos helpful. I wish you and your clients all the best :)
Hi Golden Eagle, Aww that made me so happy to hear. Yeah I know some of the geeky stuff can be a bit heavy sometimes. I always try to put a light spin on it of I can :)
I think the strain I feel is due to lack of resonance. Took me many courses and singing instructors and THIS video to help me see this. I am going to start incorporating resonance exercises. Do SOVT exercises help with resonance? Just wondering Seems like it would. Do you offer singing lessons by any chance? You are the best instructor out there
I’ve just joined the smule app and am really enjoying doing duets with different people. Even though I’m a beginner and often delete them, it’s helping my confidence. Anyone else on there?
She is wrong, and she even contradicts herself, unknowingly, I guess. She took the example of the tuning fork in 440 Hz that will resonate if a 440 Hz tone is played near it. So, the resonator must be tuned to the same frequency as the tone it will resonate with. A resonator must also have fairly hard surfaces and an open space with air. So, let's look at the bones, cavities in the face and the nasal cavity. They don't have hard walls and they are one size. So they can't resonate, and if they could they would only be able to resonate the frequency that correlates to their shape - that would mean ONE note. So, those cavities in the face do not work as resonators - it's acoustically impossible. The only space that fill the criteria for resonators is the pharynx. It's shape can be adjusted by changing the position of the soft palate, larynx and tongue, and it has surfaces that are hard enough. So the sound is created by the vocal folds and resonated and amplified in the pharynx. That's it. The only possible way adjustment of the oral cavity is to open and close the jaw, needed for some vowels. The sensation that can be felt in the face is sympathetic vibrations, but they don't add to, or change the timbre of the voice.
When I do the nay exercises I sort of feel it makes my voice hoarse. Focusing on getting a brighter talking voice. It's mostly changing the shape of the oral cavity not the nose.
Omg tysm for this! I've been seeing that I need to do resonance in my vocal exercises but I always was doing them wrong! Your explanation was so clear and so easy to understand!!
Wow in learning so much much from these videos 😱😭❤️. Much appreciated 💪🏾.. Keep making more videos. If possible a tutorial on how to improve the chest, Mixed, head and Falsetto voices would be incredible. You have a way of just making difficult things, more understandable and attainable. Thank you 🙏 Much love from 🇿🇦
Thanks mam, i have understood it so easily with your explanation, for which i have tried hard but couldn't get the concept clear. Now it is very clear in my mind, what is vocal resonance.🙏🙏
Another one of your vids I wish I saw sooner hah. Thanks so much for the great lesson! I have messed around with this alot before but yes alot of times just forced this nasally condensed sound. LIked!
I work at a call centre. I needed this to practice my speech and how to control my vocal pitches, because I realize how nasally and high-pitched my voice can be whenever I am speaking to customers.
I really like the presentation. Especially the explanation of physics and physiology. It is often frustrating to try to understand these singing techniques with online videos because every one seems to have their own set of terms. Your approach makes the teaching much easier to follow. Having understood the physical framework, it also makes understanding other peoples' videos easier.
Hi Shi Kin Ma, thanks so much for taking the time to write your feedback. The frustration you describe is exactly the reason I started Singgeek. It makes me so happy to hear that you find the video helpful 😊
Can someone explain to me why people (esp haters) say *Ariana* doesn't have resonance when, according to this video, humming a random note or frequencies coming from the vocal folds as air passes through them is basically resonance but at a particular area or resonating cavity? lol
The real answer is that this video is talking about is the scientific definition of resonance, which has to do with the oscillation of sound waves and, of course, this exists regardless of whether you are singing with optimal technique or not. What most people are referring to is the quality of a resonant sound; this is not just a sound that produces resonance in the scientific sense, but rather the sound created when the resonator (the vocal tract) is in its correct position which enhances a normal sound and makes it more ful, round and provides depth to it. It has to do with opening up and creating space in the tract which involves getting rid of things like nasality which restrict it.
You're not human U r an angel Come to rescue us Poor lost beg singers And hopeless romantics . To learn how to love being And share in presence With other lost fools .. Thank u Angel
This is such a useful video. LITERALLY YESTERDAY i searched for "how to not sound like kermit the frog when singing" and today i watch the video and you address the exact problem. Amazing.
I am learning so much from you, already! Thank you so much! Singing, music has always produced much joy ohhh my until first lesson lol. Had no idea so much involved and so looking forward to growing and learning proper techniques. You mentioned starting a group, who is welcome to join?
What a fantastic video - so engaging, so simple to follow, so easy to understand. You're a natural as an intrusturctor and you have a very calm presence. Thank you for sharing your knowledge! :)
Hi Mike, when singing softly you will not be able to feel the resonance as strongly as when you belt, but it will be there. Try to focus on feeling the vibration at the front of your hard palate by your upper front teeth. Hope it helps 😊
ok i have to comments on this. 1st of all it's funny when someone say "place your resonance there"...dude that thing does whatever the f it wants hahahaha. On the other hand i tried the inhalation thing with the book, and also the humming and trying to hold some notes, and 2 things happened to me after some minutes. I started to get a little bit dizzy and i heard a REALLY loud BEEEEEPP in my ears...you are telling me that's because of the resonance ??? eventhough i can't really sing???
Lovely yes but rong like the rest of U tube teachers Humming put your voice in the false mask !!!!! Sing scales with B or D like baba o dada Bibi Bobo etc and your voice Will be in the true mask Im not pretty or Y tube teacher but im right !
The resonant explanation is incorrect. Every object has only one frequency, like each string of a violin can vibrate only at one frequency. But the rich sounds from professional singing is not only at one or few fixed frequencies. The rich sound should be called harmonics in physics.
I feel like because my adenoids get phlegmy often it messed with my tone since it gets bigger and also my sinus cavities might be chronically clogged w gunk and it doesnt allow for my voice to sound pleasant, I can sing pretty high but there is this nasal quality and I feel its due to that
You can gargle hot water as much heat you can take carefully with lemon and salt a few times to cleanse your throat of the phlegm. I’m looking into other drinks to gargle
Hi Ronja, Great video! Thank you! I watch it every weekend. Question: Should there be a " ' " as in "Singer's Smile"? Keep up the great work! Best, Albert from SF, USA
Great video! I have a problem in placing my resonance in a right place because i can really feel my resonance on my head but i can't really feel it on my mask (i can feel it but not really). Anyways, is it still a resonance? I feel really free, my larnyx is free, and my head is ringing but i can't really feel a resonance in my mask. Thank you! 🙏
really good video ... very informative...lots of good technique... but I played this back on HD quality on good speakers and the sound quality left a lot to be desired... not sure how you recorded it and what kind of mic you used. You have a nice voice and really do give lot of good instruction in this video, but the sound quality would have benefitted form a more professional setup. I hope you rerecord it sometime with better gear.
Hi Ms. Peterson 🙋 My name is Tina B. Weah from west Africa 🌍 Liberia 🇱🇷 And I'm super excited to have you as my training. What a blessing it is. Thanks for your kind gesture always as I've been following you. I appreciate 🙏
I really appreciate u ma,,,nd am new with u. I will like to get the begging of your teaching ,,,I can't waiting singing with my natural voice. My voice is tighting me when even am singing on a high key . how can I control this mam
Love your videos for helping learn to sing - I have unfortunately developed muscle tension dysphonia, and my doctor has no advice or anything. I have no clue what to do. Been resting my voice for 6 weeks now and it's not getting much better. If I sing anything at all, it tenses right back up. Do you have a video that addresses things that could help for this? I was trying to learn to sing for 2 months and then this happened. Never had it before even though I used to sing lots before too. Neck injury isn't helping I would think.
Sometime I can place the resonance well but at the lightest discomfort in my adenoids/tonsils, I lose projection. I wish I could keep those tissues dry and tight
