Also, the explanation for the intentional blending of their different vocal approaches is enlightening. And that harmonized whistle at the end - shook. Ariana's happiness is palpable.

I love your analysis! I have been saying that timbre of Ariana and Jennifer work perfectly with all of the textures of Mariah's voice. It made for such a surprisingly well balanced track. I kinda hope that we could hear more from them together, like a live performance, a snippet of them recording or singing another song, but I feel like that's just wishful thinking. For now, I'm just obsessively replaying the song.

Belts and whistles are exciting, but my favorite parts of the song were when Mariah picked up Arianas runs, the blends were just divine! I love your reaction and analysis, it's always sincere, nuanced and actually insightful. You always notice little details overlooked on all other channels. I get a little annoyed when people act like chesty warm belts of the Whitney/Mariah variety to metallic/twangy school and wonder why the former doesn't venture as high, so thank you for mentioning it. As for whistles, to me they are completely disconnected, unlike super head voice/flageolet (Lisa Fischer, Minnie Ripperton's approach).

Loved your reaction. And appreciate the fact that you re-listened to Mariah’s solo F6 whistle note, which left me speechless😱. She’s a vocal technician, and can still hit whistle notes effortlessly. MC is on a whole different level musically speaking. I just feel like people were too focused on that double whistle harmony. It was amazing, don’t get me wrong. But Mariah’s agility during that whistle run was incredible. I’ll always be greatful for her music. And Ariana and Jennifer killed It . Also when it comes to the whistle register. Mariah and Minnie Riperton for me in particular, were the legendary vocalists who made the whistle register capability seem above expectations. Even though Ariana can hit whistle notes. She’s only recently started doing them more often. Whereas Queen MC has been using her whistle register throughout her entire career. She’s a legend, who’s inspired a whole generation of singers. Besides that this was everything👏🎶✨

ugh i would love to see you doing a talkthrough about Gabriel Henrique's voice in general, because he reaches very high notes in several covers he does (vision of love, emotions, run to you) but I don't know if he does super head voice or he does whistle register. He is a male from brazil, super talented (seriously, he’s been doing melismas since he was a kid, it’s impressive), he has crazy agility like mariah and does a lot of riffs and runs.
