This song has a really deep meaning to me. The circus monster is a Vocaloid who used to sing for someone special she possibly loved. I think that special someone used to be her fanbase, which at first was supportive and loving. This "new person" the Vocaloid refers to is when her fanbase starts expecting her to sing for them, in fact hurting her to. This can be compared to when people comment angrily, "WHEN'S THE NEXT SONG?! HURRY UP!!". They've come to expect her voice as something given to them and a constant, and feel cheated when the songs take time. The Vocaloid feels awful that she's done something wrong at first, but then realises this is her fate and what she was made for, to be an instrument for these people. Her song is no longer free and happy, but something that feels forced and choked. It makes her feel like an animal, but she can't do anything but sing, and people don't understand that.
I thought it was about Gumi leaving/getting replaced. Cause when it says "An amazing gift So quick and swift You were amazing By myself I can't They start to chant Why are you not here?" I thought luka was thinking "You were so awesome awesome! Why did you leave?" And how: "I want to see you I need to see you I have to see you What happened to you?" I thought is was talking about how she isnt used to Gumi not performing with her. And: "Why are you not here? Why is 'he' so near? 'He' wants me to sing I just can not bring- I say 'he's' not you What else can I do? 'He' smiles at me I can not see Why 'he's' in your place" Is how Gumi's replacement isnt like Gumi and Luka is just confused. And i thought: "I lay all alone I should have known You would have left me" She was starting to think Gumi betrayed her. And luka is confused overall how Gumi left and no one told her why, as shown in "They can't tell me why You said good-bye Right before our act" BUT I can be incorrect. I also didnt make up this theory. I just believed it. and i dont even know if the song is even about Gumi!

also she changed the final verse and thereby the impact of the song to elaborate, each Corus described another 'monster' subjected to torcher and an unknown, cruel fate to follow. the final verse is almost identical to the chorus, except that it's the protagonist instead of another nameless 'monster'. this is followed by the end of the song, although this is likely overlooked by a sizable sum of listeners, it is likely to allow them to ponder the fate of these 'monsters' and feel empathetic towards the protagonist.
In the original song, the final chorus is different. The lyrics are much more impactful and that's the only thing that I would change for this version. The original lyrics are supposed to be. ... Is it weird that I have this playing while I rock my God son to sleep? It may be an eerie song but it's still so beautiful and my God son likes it since it puts him to sleep almost everytime (he's 6 months old btw) still an amazing song 🖤🖤🖤🖤
I'm hoping you see this, Melt! Great cover! I'm surprised I have not found you sooner. Melodic voice, amazing edit/echo type thing (don't know the terms I'm sorry) I think it goes well with how empowering the piano notes are hitting. I know it's the Internet, people having their own opinions, and that this is a year old, BUT I just think that if you plan on doing the echo type thing in the future, I encourage. I mean the way you did it with this song seemed perfect to me. To others, not so much, but hey all artists are different and everyone's a critic. :) I'll be on the lookout for more of your covers now since I'm a sub :D

This is beautiful~! One of the best covers I've ever heard, but some words I couldn't understand, such as some parts the music would making so you can't hear you singing and some words weren't understandable could they sounded jumbled up, sorry if what I said came off rude
