Of all the versions of Voi Che Sapete that I have listened to on here, this is the best enunciated -- easiest to understand the lyrics without access to the libretto.
Joyce DiDonato, if I could transform myself into a handsome Knight, I'll carry you on my white horse to my castle and let you sing to me until I die. Whichever heaven might be, being touched by the voice of an angel will make it much better. WHAT A VOICE!!
A slow, smooth version, beautifully vocalized. This is a long way from the whole stoy (try Bartoli, Baltsa, Berganza) but this is certainly an interesting gloss on a song that can take more approaches than one might expect.
It's so good to be able to do this with RU-vid, Spotify etc. Don't forget the filmed ones - great moments from Maria Ewing and Christine Schaeffer in particular.
I agree though I found this one to have too much vibrato. Just compare this performance with Patricia Janečková's rendering (ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE--yvjC5_YrrM.html) And at age 15/16 too!
Her latest sensation has been in London where she literally broke a leg after singing Una Voce Poco Fa and continued to the end of the opera. Afterward she has been doing the opera in a wheelchair!
not really. I mean, I have no idea whether she is a soprano or not but all I can say is, this piece is in mezzo range. So you can't say just from this piece that she is a soprano.

I am sure that your voice does not sound like a hot dog as your knowledge suggests to me that you know a bit about singing and therefore would be a competent vocalist. Look up german fact system of classifying voices. Joyce diDonato is a mezzo but has a higher voice than some. Fleming is more comfortable in the stratosphere.
@Cissy97 I'm sorry -- do you teach? Are you a singer? From what position of authority do you say this? She has a team of top notch teachers and coaches who have been ably helping to guide her career for a long time, and she's doing quite well.
