The glottal singing after the soprano part is a traditional singing style from the region he is from being Kazakhstan. Dimash likes to mix local traditional sounds - not just singing - into his music. When it comes to suggestions, I'm really partial to "Autumn Strong" from the Singer 2017 competition. For Dimash's standard it is quite demure with only little vocal gymnastics, but it is amazing in his capacity to project emotions. On the other end of the scale is Diva Dance which shoots up and down his vocal range.

I will say it here Dimash has the potential to take music, in a good way, to a whole new level like the music greats of the last two hundred plus years! I studied voice with one of the greatest voice teachers of the 20th century.

As a musician (guitar/piano), I'm in awe of his many talents: songwriter, composer, arranger, rapper, multi instrumentalist (10), poet, (as a teen would compose music to great Kazakh poets & writers), self-driven/serious about music since 5, (would cry if they took his little cassette player/tapes away-he HAD to hear music to go to sleep), very self-driven w/perfect pitch (& gets all the little nuances of songs), children's advocate, Kazakh Youth Embassador & Cultural Embassador to China, his originals are amazing, etc!😊

This is the festival "New Wave" in Sochi (Russia). There was a competition of young performers and concerts of Russian artists. Dimash acted as a guest at the jubilee concert of the Kazakh group "A-studio". Baigali Serkebaev - the author of the song - plays the piano here. It was a phenomenal performance! Superb low notes at the beginning, unreal high notes at the end. And again the oriental tones in the song! Melismа in the finale together with the last "Дай" - 23 seconds! Dimash used kazakh singing technique. Saha people ( Russia) uses this technique too.

Thank you. Dimash refers to his style of singing a «neo-classicism». which combines several genres of music into his songs. Dimash talked about injecting the folk and classics styles into modern music, (2 interviews, September and January 2018). He referred to it as being, perhaps innovative and maybe the audience wants this type of songs. He is a marvelous and talented young man. DKIFC/Canada.

Such informative, genuinely encouraging and descriptive comments about our beloved boy Dimash. Thank you for loving him as much as we, his Fans (Dears) do. That style of singing is traditional Russian Yakutia ethnic singing. They live near the Arctic Circle.

Thank you for your reaction. Dimash has raised the bar in vocals but also the aura he has of being positive, humble, grateful, respectful. Consider this versus the many commercial simple fly by night songs and arrogant personalities out there. This is why his Dears (us Dears) are undyingly loyal and devoted.

Dimash has so many things going for him. He's intelligent, kind, confident and humble at once. He was blessed by circumstance (having come from a highly musical family that encouraged his musicality - he went to the best schools, etc). On the other hand, he took full advantage of all of this, and I have no doubt that his work ethic has made him into a once in a generation phenomenon. You aren't just born knowing how to sing classical, opera, pop, rock, folk or sing in at least 8 languages or become an expert in just as many instruments. Oh yeah and also martial arts and swimming on the side. This is someone who is laser-focused in such a way most of us will never be. I'm glad to witness it. Such skill gives me hope of what a human can truly be if they make the most of their opportunities, passions and work ethic.

Did you notice 22 second belted run near the end? While most people focus on Dimash's incredible range and his complete comfort level in each range, I think there are three often overlooked aspects of what sets him apart. First, the can seamlessly transition between each of his ranges, up or down it doesn't matter. Second, in each of his ranges he has the ability to change the texture or flavor of a sound at both loud and soft volumes. And lastly, Dimash puts so much emotion or "acting" into each of his songs. Even if the video has no subtitles, the viewer still can understand the basic emotions within each song. It is this emotional experience which draws in the audience and makes a Dimash someone that is truly shared between performance and audience and performer.

Only recently, I fell into the Dimash rabbit hole. I knew his name last year, read that he was similar to Vitas, whom I heard a decade ago, wasn't driven to listen to his actual singing. Then, just a few weeks ago, when his cover of the French song 'SOS' popped up on my RU-vid recommendations, I clicked. It was like a drop-kick to my gut. I had to find and listen to everything from Dimash. Here's a fun little exercise: listen to Gregory LeMarchal's cover of 'SOS.' That's the gold standard for how 'SOS' is supposed to be sung. LeMarchal has harvested years of praise and adulation for that song. Then listen to Dimash pull that paradigm up by the roots and set it on fire. I'm no expert in singing, so I wanted to understand more about what he is doing, listen to expert people remarking on it. That's why I came here, and also visited the channels of other voice coaches to hear their reactions. I enjoyed your reaction to 'Sinful Passion' very much. The unusual run towards the end of this song is a technique associated with areas of the world with a strong Muslim influence (including Kazakhstan). It's said to be quite difficult to master, and if it has ever been used before in a French song, I don't know about it. One of the things I love about Dimash is his use of extremely varied vocal techniques to tell a song's story. He also establishes dramatic tension in many of his songs and lets it build until you just know you're about to hear the musical equivalent of fireworks, explosions and shattering glass. Then he delivers. It's wonderful, really.

Christi, Christi, Christi!! Every thought you voiced here is exactly what has been blowing my mind for the past six months. Yes, truly, he is shattering all kinds of barriers and pre-conceived notions, and doing so in the most enjoyable way, right?!? It's so much fun to also know that he is absolutely his own man -- he is determined, knows what he wants, and quietly, nicely, makes it happen. (He has shown, publicly, firmly, kindly, that he won't be manipulated.) If you want something new to watch for fun, go check out a new video of his own song, "Give Me Your Love Tonight." He is learning dance in the last two years, and it's remarkable for as tall a guy -- with long feet -- as he is! If you're looking for another song to react to, try "Love is Like a Dream" also a rather new release. It's just as spectacular as "Sinful Passion". (Both of those are on his channel, but also the fancam videos from the Dimash48 channel are superlative!) Remember, we are waiting to hear about a solo concert in NYC in October, possibly close (in date) to the Igor Krutoy 60th B-day Celebration concert at which Dimash and many other singers will perform on Oct 26. If you follow Dimash on IG, he's sure to announce it; and I've no doubt tickets will sell out quickly if it's a smaller venue, so be ready! :-) Finally, thank you for the life coaching and for sharing your wisdom! Dimash took part in a professional singers competition show in China in 2007 and that's where his career took off. He had 13 performances on that show! All of them are so good. I suggest you check out his 1st performance SOS.

Another thought, when you said "intelligent": I think this is a big part of what draws me to his music: in addition to it being gorgeous, it's obviously SO intelligent. I can tell that if I knew more about music or vocal technique, or the cultural context or history of a song, I could peel back the layers of each song and find all kind of additional things to appreciate. It's almost like having a new hobby! :-)

The first gentleman standing at the end of the song, is Igor Krutoy, giving Dimash the standing ovation!! Imagine the pressure Dimash had of having Mr. Krutoy in the audience. That's the first time most of us, < Dear>, got to see Igor. Soon after, He and Dimash gave us " The Love Of Tired Swans " ,"Mademoiselle Hyde" and " Love is like a dream " and the latest "Ogni Pietra".

We love your sincere reaction. I can tell you...you found a treasure. The best of the best. I suggest you start with Singer 2017 series, which was a professional singer competition in China. Dimash is a rare talent, so special and probably the only one in our generation. He is making some pretty 'extreme' music and breaking Music impossibility and all rules with his unbelievable vocal techniques and his 6 octaves. He is a God of EXTREME VOCALS.

This song is very similar to SOS in that it shows Dimash's extraordinary range and variety.I love your reactions to his performances and absolutely agree that he is an innovator and a change maker. Not just in singing and music but somehow also in how people FEEL and how people can be human, he is I always say he is an Emissary from God! i cant wait for you to react to Know, Ogni Pietra Fancam version and Passione.. he is constantly breaking new ground!

Thank you. You just can't really explain Dimash 😀 He is Dimash and that's that. I think you kind of started from the end, this and previous song you reacted to are one of his most recent songs. Please SOS or Late autmn next from The singer. One in French the other in Chinese 😊. Both amazing and they give me chills for days. I cry every time and I heard it 100000 times 😪

Hopefuly she activated subs on because same as Daybreak at Bastau or Late Autumn at Singer, Sinful Passion lyric is just so romantic and beautiful. I agree, SOS at Singer is where he shows off most of his techniques and voice colors. Maybe Christi can add at the end of SOS analysis the version of Diva Dance also at Singer

What he was doing when he went on that middle eastern sounding run was actually going back, and forth between chest, and head voice super fast, but the mast unbelievable thing was that last run. He not only sustained for about 24 seconds, but modulated,and did a run in the middle, showing otherworldly breath control.

Dimash truly is an innovator, and in a class by himself. He is pushing the limits and barriers. I agree with every word you say. -- Dimash will perform in Madison Square Garden, New York, next October, in a concert organised by Igor Krutoi, in honour of Igor's 70th birthday. Dimash did perform in America last year, but he was told that he is a heap of shit. -- This "Sinful Passion" was composed by the pianist of this show, from the band "A-Studio." The original was shown a few days ago by a Spanish-speaking extremely knowledgeable commentator (whose name I cannot recall right now). The original was sung in one and one half of octaves -- a pretty miserable performance. I didn't count Dimash's octaves, but I assume they were five. (His range is C2 to D8.)

As I heard, Dimash is going to give two concerts in the USA this fall, one is the concert of Igor Krutoy (tickets are already available) where Dimash will participate as a guest and some other concert (somewhere in NY if I am not mistaken).

Thank you for recognizing my favoirite artist. Yes it is so exiting to be part of the beginning of a fabulous route. I was Dimashified in the fall of 2017. I have been able to se him live in London nov 2018 and recently in Moscow 2019. He is born to be on the stage performing. Please go and see hin in USA when he will perform. He will sing at Igor Krutoys concert in New York coming october and hopefully there will also be a soloconcert. Dimash has a sweet gentle and very humble personality too. The Slavic Bazaar takes place in Belarus. Dimash came in 2nd in the Chinese show "Singer 2017" (formerly "I Am a Singer"). The confusion may have arisen from what must be the many requests you've gotten to react to "SOS" performed during the "Singer 2017." However, the performance of "SOS" at the Slavic Bazaar in 2018 is possibly - certainly is for me - the best performance of any song that Dimash has given. He was in such top form on that night that he could've sung anything in any manner of his desire, and it would've come out indomitably brilliantly. So, if you're gonna react to "SOS" - and you definitely must catch it, whether or not you do a reaction video for it - the version to catch is the one performed at the Slavic Bazaar. Another essential Dimash performance to catch is "Late Autumn" (alternatively "Autumn Strong") during the "Singer 2017." Yet another "essential" one is "Diva Dance" at the Bastau concert. So many... So little time...

Hello from Australia, That thing that Dimash does with his voice and you said you sound like a goat I do it easily. I have been able to sing in much higher notes since starting to watch the glorious singer nearly 2 years ago. I'm 62 but when I speak I still sound 25 or younger, my singing voice the same. Self trained and I have singing since I was a kid. There is an Asian show that has RU-vid videos and it is called SUPER VOCAL. There are several songs done in English one being the SOUND OF SILENCE by 3 very talented guys. Then there is I DREAMED A DREAM by 2 other guys; THE MUSIC OF THE NIGHT by 2 other guys; CAN YOU FEEL THE LOVE TONIGHT? done by 4 guys. One of the singers who does I DREAMED A DREAM, the taller one does 2 other songs which are not in English from the same show called SHE IS MY SIN which shows of his versatility to the max. Recently I saw his BOOK OF LOVE and you can see Dimash looking on twice in it. Just check out SHE IS MY SIN for yourself and please if you could do a reaction video to THE SOUND OF SILENCE. There are 2 other groups doing it but the one from SUPER VOCAL is my favorite. Thanks again for another video.

He also has that forward, buzzy tone. That masked voice that he uses when he starts belting up high. Plus he also has that very deep chesty opera, baritone-ish voice or whatever range that he uses With all the vibrato. It's that dark and heavy voice, you know what I mean. The dude uses all his vocal colours in every song. And there is the fact that he did this very long run after that a crazy high note toward the end. I think they say it was about 25 seconds in total without stopping to breathe. Incredible.

I agree “yummy” is a good word. He actually came in 2nd in The Singer. He did win several performances on the Singer. He is scheduled to be st Maestro Krutoy’s concert in October in NYC. Should be amazing there is quite a line up of singers to be there. They are talking of a solo concert at Madison square garden around the same time. Which makes sense so he wouldn’t have t fly back and forth. Thank you for sharing your thoughts and reaction with us. 😊
