EXPLAINING DISNEY #22,5
Created as a companion video to my series of CARTOON EVOLUTION'S DISNEY EXPLAINED videos (specifically the 'Evolution of WINNIE THE POOH'), I take a look at the vocal evolution of Pooh as I compare all of the characters official voice actors over time, including Sterling Holloway, Jim Cummings, Hal Smith, Franz 'Faz' Fazakas, and Yevgeny Leonov.

It’s crazy how good Jim Cummings is at matching sterling Holloway‘s original. Same with Cummings as Tigger, though Paul Winchell did kind of teach him that one

Jim Cummings is just an absolute legend, I always get excited whenever I recognize him in movies, shows and video games. I never grow tired of the guy and from time to time I always imitate the way he screams as Pete lol, cause I always loved the way he voiced Pete.

One of the reasons I love Pooh so much is that he reminds me of my grandmother. She was a squat, huggable woman who had a sweet tooth and spoke with the same inflections.

God, very much the same! There's something about the cadence of Pooh's voice and his gentleness (and if I'm being honest, his airheadedness) that reminds me of my Grammy.

I'm still amazed that Jim Cummings voiced this silly, old bear for over thirty years, and in a wide variety of media no less. He's tied with Sterling Holloway as my favorite voice for Pooh, though Hal Smith still a solid job.

2:39 - Thank you Dave for placing the clips of Russian interpretation. You have no idea how HAPPY I am for you to have those clips with NO subtitles to translate what the character is saying because if it happens, that would take away a certain magic or charm of the actor's language and performance.

Both Sterling Holloway and Jim Cummings are amazing as Pooh! They sound absolutely identical! 😃😃😃🧸 Tho, IMO, the main difference between the two is that Jim is slightly higher-pitched and tad more gruff! Whereas Sterling is a little lower and more gentle! Oh, well! They’re both fantastic! 😊👌

Jim Cummings re-voiced some scenes from the Many Adventures for the Mini Adventures short Disney series and it's nearly identical... Right down to the intonation...! Jim Cummings studied Sterling Holloway so well and got it just perfect. I love them both. I also love the Eyeore short that Hal Smith voiced too where Pooh invents the Pooh Sticks game!

@@mightyfilm I just heard Brock Baker’s impression of Pooh from that South Park episode. And while it is pretty good, Brian’s Pooh is far more accurate, IMO! 😊 Brock’s is just a little too high-pitched to me! 😁👌

I loved The Book of Pooh! I wish Disney could make more shows like that! If Jim Cummings no longer walk on this earth (which I hope not anytime soon), I hope Disney could turn to Brian Hull to voice Pooh and Tigger! He's so good! He can also do Mickey, Donald and Goofy! 😃

Brian Hull did a good job in Hotel Transylvania 4 and I agree on his impressions of Pooh and Tigger, he's fantastic as them. He should be an understudy for whatever reason Jim isn't available and for what you mentioned.

Sterling may have set the standard, but Jim has just perfected the role of Pooh! 🧸🐝🍯🎈🌲 It’s amazing how identical he sounds to the late Disney legend, while also making the role his own! 😊 And just like Tigger, too! 🐯 Tho, tbh, the late Paul Winchell pretty much taught him how it’s done! 🤩👌

Worked with a smaller man that had an actual voice eerily similar to Jim Cummings pooh voice. We all called him Winnie and he was surprised we called him that. Seriously a sweet man and very kind. Haven’t heard from him in almost 10 years. He should be pushing his mid 60’s by now.

Sterling and Hal were both on the Andy Griffith show. I was just witching it and Sterling made an appearance, didn't know who he was until he spoke, I thought of the Cheshire cat first, but I mean his voice is unmistakable.

I heard Sterling Holloway wanted to reprise his role as Winnie the Pooh in a few episodes of The New Adventures of Winnie the Pooh starting with the episode Pooh Oughta be in Pictures and ending with Fast Friends.

A pretty good showcase on Winnie the Pooh's voices despite that there are only three of them that is if I can just discount the non-canon ones the voices that I had to go to Sterling Holloway and Jim Cummings and pretty well that they gave him that soft voice for him which it is fitting and quite calmer.

I will always love Sterling Holloway voice of Winnie the pooh. I've seen him so many times on an episode of Andy Griffth Show and movies when he was younger. and the other actor that played Otis the drunk on his show also his voice to the iconic character.

Holloway defined the character, and Cummings has cemented it for over 35 years. Smith's Pooh was okay. Not bad but not particularly good, either. It got the job done for the interim before they were fortunate enough to find Cummings. (Smith would continue to voice Owl for a while --- he, Paul Winchell and John Fiedler were the only cast members from the original shorts who reprised their roles in the '80s TV series.)

I know that your video is about the cartoon and video versions of Pooh, but could you consider the audiobook interpretations of his voice? The British actor Norman Shelley did a smashing good voice for Pooh when he read the audiobooks. Also, Stephen Fry voiced Pooh for a dramatised reading of the two story collections, and Bernard Cribbins and Peter Dennis have also portrayed Pooh for audiobook. I was wondering if you could spare a thought for these other Pooh voices, especially Norman Shelley. It is furry and fluffy like Jim Cummings, but it keeps to the British tone of the character. The Shelley audiobooks are readily available as RU-vid links.

Other voice actors have to imitate Sterling Holloway, but he just used his natural voice. That's why Sterling _IS_ Pooh, and because they even look alike.

You know what sometimes I wish I can make my own version of Winnie the Pooh when Christopher Robin is a teenager and he's dressed in a tuxedo and the other characters including pooh or turning on a show for every child Young and the old to see the stories of new kinds of adventures of Winnie the Pooh only Christopher Robin would be the narrator and in my version of Winnie-the-Pooh Jessie the bluebird would have a boyfriend that Rabbit does not trust and as you know Rabbit was a little too overprotective for her remember in The New adventures of Winnie the Pooh when they met Kessie for the first time ever and her boyfriend would be called Cody and every time the show goes on the introduce themselves when they sing and dance and wear top hats and hold Canes! Won't that make a great Winnie the Pooh cartoon?
