I wonder if it might be a matter of "no longer being necessary", rather than "going extinct" where it wouldn't necessarily be as important to have to have a studio for a lot of work, but a physical studio wouldn't lose its usefulness. Even if the software could do the work, there would still be something to be said for a recording space that meant you didn't need the software, to begin with. To be honest, I've got too many memories of programs I loved that were great right up until a tech company decided they wouldn't support it, anymore. (Heck, I just lost the ability to check my stock portfolio on my phone because the company upgraded the app and decided to no longer support my model of phone.) As a result, I'm not sure I'd want to risk losing the sound treatment I use to earn money to a subscription lapsing, software conflict, or something like that. And I definitely wouldn't want to risk having to tell a client I couldn't respond to them in time because of a software issue. So, especially when starting out, the software would be a tremendous benefit. It would let people deliver better products, earn money, and start building momentum without needing to make big changes to their house. But, over time (thanks to the software, perhaps a longer period than we currently enjoy) it still might be better to build and develop a physical space optimized for recording.

I have RX10 Elements, and so far it has helped with recordings made in a somewhat reflective room. I will say, it’s not as good as I want it, but the consensus is that it is good enough, especially for web-based deliveries like podcasts and such. In the end I don’t think it can at this point replace a fully treated room.

I’m building a studio in the back of my pantry. Less for a treated space and more for the hope that I can get away from the noise of kids and busy road. Fingers crossed.

hah similar to me. The thing that helped the most was after the closet I am using was set up, I built a good Mic Box and it knocked off about another 10db of repetitive noise. I also split up my time between recording sessions and editing, so that I can let people know to be quiet during recording times at night.

Are you referring to the Dialog Isolate plugin? I'm not seeing any Dialog Replace plugin in the RX11 suite, either the standard or advanced versions. BTW, I've been using the RX software for years to help clean up video recordings made at live events. Wonderful software.

Same with me- And it's $799 or is that for a package of some kind?

@@BannerSound $799 would be the price of RX11 Advanced, which includes more plugins than the Standard version.

The end user will need RX11 Standard to gain access to the dialogue isolate feature.

@VoiceCoach-BillDeWees - For the plug-ins you mentioned today, do you know of anyone using Audacity who has been able to make these work? (I don't see Audacity listed among the supported host programs.)
