The Hebrew part is an actual prayer song, I love how they incorporated it into the song

I was just coming to say this! It's basically Exodus 15:1. My Dad wrote his dissertation on this in graduate school. 😊 The Song of Moses and Miriam 15 Then Moses and the Israelites sang this song to the Lord: “I will sing to the Lord, for he is highly exalted. Both horse and driver he has hurled into the sea.

It's a combination of passages from the Hebrews' song at the sea in the Bible, which also is recited during Jewish daily morning prayers. Ashira l' Adonai = I will sing to the L-ord.

7:19 such a small moment, but to me it’s probably one of the most powerful in this entire movie. That old woman most likely spent her entire life in the Hebrew slave camp, and never once thought she would live to see the outside of those Egyptian walls, and you can tell that she’s terrified and overwhelmed by the way she leans against the wall, not even daring to try to step outside those gates. It takes the gentle encouragement of a child’s hand to give her the strength to move again, and the lighting getting brighter as they step out of those gates together is a wonderfully symbolic way to show that the future is brighter for them now. Sorry for the mini rant, but I just had to point it out. 😊❤

I'm an atheist but I'm also a film composer, and through that secular lens, I've always been moved by how much emotional weight is put into the music/songs in The Prince of Egypt. The film version of this song makes me cry almost every time I hear it. The music itself is so powerful thanks to Hans Zimmer's orchestration and composition, and paired with those incredible voices, it becomes a perfect storm of musical harmony. The song has a strong message about believing in yourself above all else and, through that, how you're able to accomplish anything when you believe and have faith in yourself. Hope shines through the darkness.

No, because there's not faith in yourself but in their God. When you are slave from birth, you have not even a little of faith in yourself because you know you are not strong enough to save yourself but they believe their God is strong ❤ and they believed in His promise to give them the Promised Land

Jaron, I love your thoughts on this song. This song has been a reminder to me that sometimes having a portion of hope and belief is enough to get you to the next step, and that we will be able to see the miracles happening around us as we act on that fragment of belief.

Hans Zimmer is a true genius. It doesn't matter what faith you believe in, this song will make you cry from the sheer hope it projects. It makes you go through the despair, of not knowing, then the pure hope believing in something brings. I cry at the end of this movie every time because of this song. 10/10 music and analysis!

This is why I love music so much. It doesn't always have to be a church song to hit your heart. I truly believe that sometimes God speaks to you through other people and that's what happened for me in this video. I have been a lamb(mariah fan) majority of my life and know that song backwards and forwards, but I NEVER felt the lyrics like I did today. I am entering into a space where I am now learning to trust my faith and take the leap, knowing God will always be there to catch me. Something that I have never been able to do before. Finding this video at this exact moment was my affirmation. Thank you ❤

This movie came out when I was in high school and that year we had a huge music program. At the end of each concert they used to do a whole program song. That year they did this song and it was incredible. Imagine a 500 person choir singing with a 300 person full orchestra. Just beautiful, they got a standing ovation and id say there wasn't a dry eye.

Both versions of the song make me extremely emotional, but I think the film version does it more so, perhaps its the choir of children and then the whole chorus of everyone singing…it feels like everyone, we are altogether and miracles are possible. I remember even as a kid, watching it for the first time in the movie theater, I recognized and felt the energy and power of this song. Loved this analysis, I teared up as well 🥹

Even from an atheist standpoint, miracles can happen when we put that energy out in the world. It isn’t easy and the song doesn’t say it is easy to do. It’s so hard, but it’s okay to have faith good things can happen even if you have no proof otherwise. When you’ve done everything you can and just hope for the best. The sheer joy of the children followed by the strength of the adults voices filling the space gets me every time. The adult voices tell you how painful it is to keep going. The kid’s voices tells you that they are free to play and be kids for the first time.

1st of all you're amazing 😍 2nd being Jewish and watching you analyze this song with such power, such emotions and respect...it chills 💖 and 3rd (Ad-nai is one of the 70 names of God) and we don't say the full name actually except for praying... but I guess that for this movie they make an exception and just because in the hebrew part, the girl starts chanting a piece of a "song" that is actually a poetry in the Torah, "Shirat HaYam" (the song of the sea) that they sang right after the red sea opened and they crossed. This part said "sing to Ad-nai with pride..." so now you can imagine how much power you could add to this moment and this song.❤️🎶
