Great reaction as always, Valerie 🙂 You know, this was Angelina's second take of the song, back to back. In her first performance, her hair was constantly blowing into her face, to the extent that it really bothered her and affected her singing. I'm not sure if anyone except Angelina heard THAT, tho.. Anyway, she was given a 30 sec break to get som fixing spray or something like that and then she hit it again. Sounding like this on her second inning is mindblowing to me. She has developed an incredibly strong voice and must have lungs of steel. Another thing to consider is that she just came from LA where the temperature is hot. This day wasn't particularly hot here in Norway, and it was heavy wind. That dress of hers didn't give her much protection so I'd imagine she would be freezing as well. That didn't affect her singing either. She's a true master of her craft, maybe the best the world has ever seen. She's still only 16 for heaven's sake...LOL Love from Norway♥♥♥♥♥

I really love how she branches out doing all sorts of genres. I think it will richen her art and keep it more interesting. As you say it also helps her develop her technical toolkit and discover all there is about her voice. She is still only 16. She is and was amazing at any age and she keeps improving at an incredible rate. She has still a bunch of years before her voice fully matures and I simply cannot imagine what that will entail. It is a very exciting prospect though and I will enjoy her past and present work for now :-)

Welcome back! When it rains, it pours. Angelina released a masterful Suspicious Minds (Mark James / Elvis) cover two weeks ago. Performed a full live concert exclusively hers on Friday. She has another exclusive live concert tomorrow and again on Sunday.

That bit about mike placement was very educational. I think I knew it intuitively, but to hear you explain is was great. This was her first stop on her Norwegian tour. Then she had a concert on July 1 and apparently she had a ball. Laughing and playing with the audience. She did a 17-song set, with three standing ovation encores. And they still wanted more. Her next concert is tomorrow (7th) at another setting, then she returns to this venue on the 10th. Before she left for Norway, she posted a music video that is a tribute to Elvis and coinsides with the release of the new biopic "Elvis". Hi Valery great to see you here - Angelina has done her first regular concert July 1. and there are Fan Videos out there - pls do Suspicious Minds i think it is her last song and she got very emotional at the end - priceless to watch - highly recoment tishues - by the way i got her book "Mellom to hjerter" and i Translated it to German - oh man i had to fight tears - very hard - a book of a 9 year old girl so well and honest with the Story of Princess - she dont get her real name - doing her school homework on a street i guess in Teheran - while earning money with a bathroomwage - to feet her siblings - a girl Angelinas age of 6 or 7 with a late mom and small brother - not begging but working during a cold rainy day with no shoes and injured feet - people passing her looking down with superstition - this is the Real Story why Angelina gave her shoes to the girl - pls guys purchase her book and read it - it is outstanding stuff and we all can learn a lot - the wonderful pictures of Madame Zamany add also a lot to the storytelling too - you got to buy it belive me - cheers from Germany

Hi Valerie, just got back from her concert in Norway on the 10th July. She sang this and was so emotional being back on stage and home in Norway that she had tears running down her face. She also did a sound check where she sang several songs - watched this just a few feet away and she sang this same song twice - didn't notice any difference but she must have. She was also so relaxed in leather jacket and jeans - but dressed up later for the concert.

My wife and I flew from St. Louis ended up in Oslo Norway with the three rolls to the left or right on man three rows back to the right and it was a treat to hear that voice live it was kind expensive to fly and buy the tickets get a room and my food yes it was aquatics Matthew but it was worth everything was straight to our treat to the ears

Interesting that you both enjoyed this piece thoroughly and made no notice of the key change. Angelina is singing at least a step lower than in the video she did at age 13/14, the key of Whitney's official (studio) version. Some time ago I searched for a Whitney live performance of this piece. What I could find were all performed in a key that was a step lower than her official version. (The drugs had had their effect by the time of the live recordings I could find. It wouldn't be fair to compare them to Whitney in her prime or even to Angelina.) The punchline here is that a singer can lower the key, at least a certain amount, without notice by the audience. I see two benefits to the singer in doing this. Most importantly, it has a significant effect in preserving vocal health, especially in a touring situation. Secondly, it reduces the stress of performing live in front of an audience. The key change hit me right out of the gate, and Angelina's performance didn't play as big to me as some performances in the original key. That's probably because I had researched this in Angelina's earlier recording and was looking to see how she would handle the choice of keys in the performance reviewed here. Transposing keys, say studio vs. live, I am sure is another vocalist tool that vocal coaches know well. That you, a vocal coach, didn't pick up on the key change speaks to the effectiveness of the technique.
