Hi Valerie, great reaction. Maria Fiselier, as female mezzo soprano singer doing a rap song from Eminem giving her own fabulous twist to it with a lot of fun. She was not the only opera singer at Beste Zangers. I would recommend also Tania Kross singing Margherita and Barcelona (last one as duet with Tommie Christiaan).

Maria Fiselier also did two "opera" pieces on BZ, "Il Mondo" and "La Mer". Oh, and she also did Michael Jackson's "Pretty Young Thing" :-)

It's great fun. Tania Kross (operasinger too) and Tommie Christiaan (musicalsinger) dit blew the roof off the joint in Beste Zangers with the song 'Barcelona' from Queen. By the way, Tania Kross does try to make operamusic much more accessible for a much larger audience. Maybe, you like this duet very much too

According to her own comment. she trained for weeks knowing she would get to pick a song for Davina. knowing she is a fan of eminem. she had to to get the breathing right, according to her. becourse if you miss one ... you're lost.

You have it totaly wright, she pronounced the text so well that some people said "Now I know what the lirics mean". She did something that most people that sang this song could not, pronounc the words so everyone could understand it. She is an excellent opera artist, but she is also good at other genres. As a Dutchie I am proud of Beste Zangers but our Belgium neighbours have amazing vocalists. You already know Milow. I noticed some of the best Dutch female participants Sharon den Adel and Ilse DeLange. I was also excited when I noted the Belgium´s Sam and Gert Bettens, formerly K´s Choice. I think Sam, born Sara Bettens, is one to listen to. I hope you take a dive in this rabbit hole. She had to cut this song in breath pauses. You as vocal teacher must have notice this... She told she studied so hard on this for breathing. Some parts and especially one sentence at the end are so long you can breath only once and have to plan it.
