Song So Hee is known as the national treasure of S. Korea, she is a traditional gugak and pansori singer and she mixed it with the pop culture. She was 17 years old at that time on the show and she is greatly loved on the show as well as the people of S. Korea

Song So Hee started her Korean traditional voice training at the age of 5 years old.

The "middle east" vibrato as you call it is a traditional Korean way of singing known as the bell technique. It is extremely difficult to master at a high level like she has. I fell in love with her voice the first time I heard it! Her dedication to helping preserve traditional Korean culture is commendable. Sometimes as this song illustrates, she mixes in contemporary styles for certain performances.

Her singing skills are traditional skills that have been passed down in Korea for thousands of years. In Korea, it is called 'gugak'.

Song So Her is one of the Gugak singers in Korea along with Jazz gives us this. She does this type of hybrid singing so the younger people of Korea will not loose what Gugak has to offer. When she was younger she sang traditional Gugak for her classmates and they got up and left (because it was too old for them).

Wow - Really impressive. I'll never understand that ultra confidence that some have on stage. She sounded so incredibly in control.. such voice control. The vocal styling was very interesting to me, as I really enjoy eastern influences (and middle eastern).. as their scale includes so much more than the western scale. Great vocalist!

Ohh, Song So hee! She's a traditional gugak singer. Kind of the national treasure. If you want to hear the traditional style more clearly, you should react to "Tearful Trumen River" (and read in the comments about the story behind it before). Not only it's so sad but her traditional style makes it so unique and emotional. Please please check it out. She does this all sitting down on the floor.

She is very beautiful and her voice is amazing.

Pansori and Gugak is a beautiful traditional way of Korean singing(bell technique is the vibrato name as well, it is very difficult to master that level she has, amazing really). She tends to mix modern with traditional, and it makes and turns out to be absolutely amazing I love her talent truly. :)

This is korean traditional sound style called by "국악[gukak]"

This song is wonderful, but if you wish to really hear Song Sohee at her very best search for the song "Tearful Duman River" it's a breathtaking traditional song and she sings and perform on another level.

Because she is singing traditional korean style which the sounds come from mostly from throat i think they trained to eliminate chest and head voice..

Her mixes give impressions that they are chests. I think she's soprano. Her lower notes are not that low. They are really heavy.

She is a trained traditional Korean folk singer. They train and use a throat technique. You cannot apply common pop song technique on her.

Song So-hee is an artist who is doing pansori among traditional Korean music. Unlike Western music, the vocalization method is a little different.

Sam, I guess by now you know that beautiful Shinee voice of Jong HYUNG is no longer with us, he died on 18/12/2017 Very sad just shows the pressure these stars are put under. As a matter of interest Sth Korea has the highest suicide rate in the world for young males. May he rest in peace he’s was my favourite.😢
