Voice Teacher Reacts to Angelina Jordan sings I'd Rather Go Blind 

To sit down at 12 years old and crank out a vocal like that... it's just mind blowing. Her ability to express the feeling of a song is incredible, but something I find just as incredible is that she always seems to understand exactly what style fits perfectly with the feeling of any given song. You have only heard a couple songs from her now (this and bohemian), so you've only gotten a small taste of her insane versatility, but as you go through more of her covers, you are going to be amazed at just how many different ways she is able to use her instrument to express different emotions. Angelina has a deep well of high level vocals for you to check out and analyze. You can be 20-30-40 songs into her library, and she will still keep surprising you with how versatile she is.

No studio, no pop filter, no big production, no auto tune, no computer massaging, and no nonsense. It’s just twelve year old Angelina sitting on her couch with her brand new microphone that she received for her birthday and is checking it out. She simply puts forth a spontaneous, unrehearsed impromptu performance that leaves her listeners speechless, as always.

I have said this elsewhere but need to say it again..... I have gone almost seven decades thinking of music as something that is in the background while I was doing something else........ this is the first time I actually seek out and just sit back and listen to someone sing as a sole activity in itself.

I am 62 and have NEVER heard a singer touch my soul with her ability to let me feel the song. The way she can convey, project, emote the essence of each individual song is truly astounding. You say she will gravitate to a bluesy style with what your hearing, that's only because of the 2 songs you've reacted to so far. I would recommend "I Have Nothing" her Whitney Houston cover. People commented that she was only capable of soft, easy, mellow songs and couldn't go "big", she didn't have any power behind her voice. I was in the same camp when first watching and listening to her RU-vid posts wondering if she had the ability to support a big song. I think she head that, raised her eyebrow, said OOOKAY, and performed this song. I would also recommend the black and white version of "I put a spell on you" to see what a "9" year old is capable of.

Only Angelina, at the present time, knows what true - soul singing is supposed to be like. Name another white soul singer who could sing at this level of 'soul' ? You could place her at the famed Apollo in Harlem and she would garner a standing ovation, for sure. This girl is the real thing !
