Marco Hietala is incredible in The Islander - Live At Tampere!
Nightwish continues to inspire me and thrill me as an amazing band of truly excellent musicians and performers.
Marco has such amazing control of his voice and his colors and his shading is so wonderful. He belts, he sing in his mix and he sings loud, soft, high and low so effortlessly and with so many different shades and tones...it's awesome!
He's also such a brilliant storyteller.

As for the video quality, simply swapping out that Logitech 930 with a Logitech Brio will do wonders. Then you can pretty much keep the rest of the setup.

the video quality is not bad.nor is is it grate.however it's ok for your purpose and what's important is the audio which i find to above average. and im so happy you enjoy the music whit us Mike .

The one thing I’ve always loved about Nightwish, is the fact that they craft music to let each individual instrumentalist shine and with a vocalist like Floor Jansen who has a voice that is so powerful ,the harmonies she does with Marco is just enough to complement Marco and not overpower his performance!

@@helenahey They genuinely love and respect each other. You see that at the end of the concert too, everyone is embracing each other and petting on the back. The vibe is soooooo good!!!!!! I love it!!! Floor said in an interview that the band members became her brothers and I believe her, no doubt...

Sir I love your Nightwish reactions and am really impressed with your style and musical knowledge. I'd really love to watch you reacting to "High Hopes" (Pink Floyd cover) from End of an Era DVD. Marco is making a hell of a job singing solo. I have watched lots and lots of Nightwish reactions but never come across High Hopes. I'm sure it will be a great video. In 1996, he went trough a surgery, where they removed polyp from his throat, which surgeon actually botched, damaging his voice. He can't do high pitches anymore, but as one can see, he's doing fine

Floor and Marko are incredible together. Add Troy's backing vocals to the mix and you have magic. Many of the songs from the Live in Buenos Aires 2018 concert have a lot of collaboration between Floor, Marko, and Troy. React to any of those songs, and you'll be amazed! Great reaction!

One of the reasons Floor is so happy during this concert is her family was at the show. Though she and the band always seem to be having a blast when they are on stage. Strike that. They seem to be having fun all the time. On stage, with the media, fans, each other. So everywhere. Northern Kings is more like a collaboration and has several lead vocalists. But he *does* have a band where he used to be the sole lead vocalist, it's called Tarot. They took on another dude to share vocal duties some years ago, though.

Not sure about large TV panels, but for watching on 5-6" smartphones the quality is quite enough. Thanks for the Islander by the way (: There's another song where Marco did a great job - it's a cover on Pink Floyd "High Hopes" song. Perhaps this cover does not need a video reaction, but I think you should definitely listen to it for fun.

Vadim M. I usually watch on a laptop, and the quality is fine (you can tell it's not HD, but still perfectly acceptable) most important thing for these kinds of video's is the sound quality, which is excellent.

Some great Marco songs or Marco involved songs I think you would enjoy Nightwish -kiss while your lips are still red Delaine -the gathering-sing to me-control the storm-(he has done atleast 10 or so tracks with Delaine across atleast 3 of their albums) Marco himself check out his entire solo album pyre of the black heart my three favs are -isani aani/my father's voice- livia/stones- tahti,hiekka ja varjo/ star sand and shadow- I gave both finnish and English because honestly the whole album is good in either language so it's is definitely worth a listen in both finnish and English though there are some changes here and there between the two I hope you enjoy them and hope to see further reactions and that this little list gives you more options for Marco and another very good band Delaine

I'm far more annoyed by bad audio in a music reaction, than bad video. In the bad video category, poor lighting is highest on the thumbs down list, followed by annoying or distracting backgrounds. Poor resolution (your problem) is way down the list. Your audio is good, the lighting is good and the background isn't a distraction so tell your friend to take a chill pill.

My favorite thing about Nightwish hands down is everything they do is in service to the song not to themselves. They're all extremely extremely talented and well-trained individuals but they carry it with dignity and very little ego. That's why I love these reaction videos the pure joy I see in y'all's eyes.

Yes, it's almost perfect, amazing and everything. But seriously, nothing can top Pink Floyd, not even Nightwish. PF is something very very else. And I'm sure the NW guys have no intention to be better than the original. Their cover is amazing, but it's coming from their huge huge respect to PF and David Gilmour.

NW version, for me, is better to listen, but it's easier to make something good from a great thing already done. PF did from zero. I totally understand it kkk but i prefer NW version

For More Marko - While Your lips are still red, Phantom of the Opera and the High Hopes Pink Floyd cover (End of an Era). No I don't think the camera quality is distracting, but your content is very professional and having a higher quality camera/lighting setup would help reinforce that for you. EDIT - I think your format of coming back to do a second video where you go into the detail is great. Also....can you teach me to sing like Marko? Or half as good even !

This song is so beautiful and soothing, I'm an aspiring writer and it fills my mind with images of an old small island, people leaving there and an old man remembering the times when he used to sail away from home to search for gold and other treasures (sorry if it sounds a bit confusing, English isn't my first language)

I watch a lot of Nightwish reactions and yours are my favorites, because you do know what you’re talking about and you ARE so appreciative of the songwriting and performance. And I’ve never noticed anything wrong with your video quality...it’s fine. Some suggestions for future Nightwish reactions: from the Wacken 2013 show, Storytime, Everdream, Romanticide, and I Want My Tears Back.

Marko's great. No other way to say it. He'd so comfortable in front of thousands of people, as is every member of Nightwish. Emppu looks the most comfortable. When he's sneaking sips of beer and walking around on stage like he's in his own living room. I actually used to get a little nervous for the first few minutes when I played live, and the most people I ever played for was about 700. In regards to camera quality, my only comment is your video is 1080p, and I have a 1440p monitor so you're a bit fuzzy.

Hello Mike... Love this song & his singing in it... never gets old. Loved your reaction. Your ever-growing appreciation for, and love of, Nightwish is genuine and obvious. :) You'd mentioned in a previous video that Floor reminded you of Ann Wilson of Heart. There is a version of "Alone" here on the Tube with Floor. I'm pretty sure you'd enjoy it. (Live isn't great quality like the studio one, but worth a listen either way). :)

Hietala is said kinda like 'HEARtullah' - without the R. All Finnish names are stressed in the beginning anyway, and long names get a secondary stress basically in every second syllable. Compound names (like Eastwood) are stressed in the start of each part - but the beginning is the primary stress place.

My biggest complaint about the camera is that it seems to always be *slightly* out of focus. It's not something that is all that big of a deal, but it makes me feel like I need to put my glasses on. Also: Marko has the ability to make 20,000 people feel like they're all sitting around a campfire in a small, intimate setting instead of a giant, packed stadium.

I'm brand new to the channel, subscribed only a few days ago. As far as your opening question, it's a little blurry, but, your voice and expressions come through just fine, and that's what I'm here for. If it's convenient for you, and your time is limited, I feel most people understand. I love the videos, and whatever you decide to do, I hope you keep making them!

Marco comes from a small town known as Tervo. My grandmother is related to him in some obscure way (cousins' cousins' twice removed or something like that; people from small towns are usually related to each other) and she thinks he is just a some long-haired rebel who moved out of the town to play some music for fun. Once, I tried to explain to her that Marko is a world-famous musician, and I ended up feeling like I need to bang my head against a wall. Marco is so underappreciated here that it makes me cry.

The fact that Marko just released a solo album this year BOTH IN FINNISH AND THEN SELF-ADAPTED INTO ENGLISH just floors (heh) me. I'd love to hear your analysis on for example the Finnish and English versions of the same song from the album! :D The album is called Mustan Sydämen Rovio/Pyre of the Black Heart!

Thanks for doing these videos! It's great to see the performances and to experience them, sometimes for the first time. It is also great to see someone else experience some of these groups like Nightwish and Disturbed for the first time. Your explanation of what strikes you as a voice teacher is interesting and your facial expressions during the videos are wonderful to watch as you experience these performances. Please do not get rid of the face cam. Yes the recording of your face is lower quality overall than these full-on international professional performances (how could a webcam not) but I wouldn't want to give up your facial responses as they are wonderful to watch.

"Singing in your brain". Hey, Mike: I'm german. Not a singer. Started to improove my english some 15 years ago. Started to think in english, when just driving down the road. Or in any other situation, actually. Later found my american wife, during the process. Like having a conversation with an english spoken person, while living my life, basically. A great help: 'cause I'm finding out where in such a conversation I'd lack the words to express what I wanna say. I can proudly say that I've come a long way, by now. To be mentally prepared. (Btw: this is a great technique to become a better driver / rider: to prepare yourself mentally for a tricky situation. That is, how I came across this technique. And it HAS saved my life.) Topic Nightwish: I was in concert with a friend, 2 years ago. Then came this moment, when Marko 1st raised his voice. And I turned to her, saying: "THIS is what you can do, when you have 2 excellent singers in just one band!" Haha (I knew, was was about to come.) More Nightwish: you might wanna know that Floor is on YT with her own profile. And she just held an interview with Marko. (Just a minute ago, I recieved a mail from my (step)daughter, how much she liked it. Hope it will happen. Usually, the vibe in the audience mirrors their beautiful music. Looking for "good company?" A Nightwish concert is a good choce.

While I love to see your enjoyment of the songs I also enjoy a little technical analysis. When I listen to songs it is just 100% enjoyment because I don't understand the technicalities so it is nice for me when you talk about what singers are doing technically.

Hi, I've been enjoying your reactions so much :) I am a amateur singer so I've been listening to a lot of your videos on singing. I just wanted to tell you (not sure if you will read this but still :D ) how much I like your reactions especially to Nightwish :) Also when it comes to the camera, I'm not sure what the complaints are about, I'm no video geek or anything, but I think the camera works just fine, it doesn't bother me at all :) Take care and stay safe, and thank you for all these wonderful reactions and also for offering so much of your knowledge.

Great reaction as always Mike. To answer your question about video quality I would agree with a few other comments: not great but nor is it distracting. If the current setup shave time off of your production time I totally support the current quality.
