This tutorial shows you have to use VST plugins to Improve the sound of your microphone with Voicemeeter Banana using ASIO Inputs.
Update: The reverb VST description I gave is totally screwed up and shows at the time I didn't understand its function. I've since learned and rightly showed how it works in a number of videos.

it killed me, but best part was when he added reverb to the chain and then set "WET" to 0 and amped "DRY" while saying that he likes Dry sound. For those who don't know: WET is the (term) for actual reverb effect (in this case). DRY is just the PLAIN signal, in this case, his microphone signal. When you are setting an effect like reverb, you have a mix of DRY (the plain signal you are feeding to the effect) and WET (which is an actual reverb effect) (For anyone interested - Decay in the sense of Reverb is how much time required for reverberations to drop.) So he basically chained reverb, then turned it off and said he likes it how it sounds :P. P.S. I appreciate the guide and effort (was looking for something related to Voice Meeter Banana and stumbled upon this), I could never be bothered to spend the time required to make guides like this (maybe I should) but DRY/WET part really make me giggle

Thank you man I was using VSTHost and it was good but for some reason when I said certain sounds like the "S" sound I would get cracks in the wav. After using the suggested Cantabile it came out clean! Thank you so much.

I have one question is there a way to have the cantabile hotkeys active on the background so I could change my voice with hotkeys without clicking on cantabile? Very amazing tutorial everything works perfectly. I would like to say that you should open cantabile first and then voicemeeter banana because for me otherwise cantabile does not pick up the mic.

Thanks for the tutorial, I have a simple question: When I set everything up, I can hear myself, with or without voice effects applied. How can I turn it off? I know you did something but looks like you did it with another monitor (12:27). Also, when you're using these effects, what are your default playback and recording devices? Interesting tutorial, I'll experiment around with one or the other virtual features. So cool, what's possible nowadays :D! PS: During your autotune segment the sound was really low, then back to okayish sound levels with the limiter, but then when the outro music came, woah.. that was loud!

@@sjiel4989 Potato is basically the same as Banana but with more virtual inputs, so it's a great option if you want to separate audio from several sources. As for your second question I just use EqualizerAPO. I'm not an audio expert so I can't recommend anything

So will any of this add any delay to any audio sources? In OBS i have to sync up my webcam/gameplay and mic so i have to make the sync offset -200

Not with VM. OBS supports the plugins in audio filters.

If anyone is having problems with robotic sound, just switch the ON/OFF button in Protoverb until it works properly. Sometimes it takes 10 switches until it stabilizes for me.

When I enable the patch inserts my mic is still outputting through to the fader in Voicemeeter and never shows up in the other program. I have no idea what is causing this.

It should output through the fader. But you should hear a difference in the sound.

Hey,I am using the voice meter latest version and I really can't seem to be finding how to activate IN1 left & right without losing completely signnal from my mic. To be more precise, having both the INS deactivated is what leaves my mic working, as soon as I click both of them, boom, input disappears completely. Also Cantabile won't show me any microphone input, it only shows me the output that has no signal at all.

This is probably the stupidest question you'll get in response to this video...but how did you get the GUI for Graillon and Loudmax, etc. When I installed them I only got dll files... The walkthrough to add the plug ins to Cantabile was great!

That looked so amazing and useful but I must say when I tried this it had the opposite effect and made my sound the worst I have ever hear it. For me it distorted like crazy voice sounded like a robot regardless of parameters. I tried every buffer setting in Voicemeeter that didn't help I know my RAM and various sound cards are good so I'm quite baffled. It seem to max everything on one channel in Cantabile but didn't reflect this mystery signal in Voicemeeter and I could not hear anywhere so I don't know what to even think at this point. I just hard believe how difficult it is to do this get a PC to send sound from one place to another. If you know of any alternatives to Voicemeeter I'd love to know I have always had bugs with it. I managed to fix my glitches in Voicemeeter by re-installing including ALL Virtual Cables. This seemed to fix a driver issue which was with A+B Cable. Hope that helps if anyone else runs into strange behaviour with Voicemeeter.

Is it possible to use VST Plugins on individual Hardware Outputs? More specific: I want to use a low pass filter on A2 Output while leaving A1 Output as it is. The sound would be coming from a line-in on my soundcard which should not be changed in any way (A1 should still output the unmodified signal, only A2 should output the modified signal).

Just use the built in EQ. It has a low pass setting.

@@FrugalStreamer But it doesn´t completely block out certain frequencies so highs and mids will still be played, they´ll just be just more quiet. Having higher frequencies completely cut off would be what I´m looking for.

Hey man, great tutorial. However I got an issue, I get distortion on my mic on Discord and Teamspeak when using the program, I don't know why. The plugins aren't the problem, or they shouldn't be because if I add the VSTS onto my mic directly in OBS then it works fine, it's only when using this program for Teamspeak and Discord. I'm talking about Cantabile. I also tried using Clownfish on Teamspeak to add VSTs to my mic and that's the same problem aswell.

Has to be a setting in Discord. Lots of stuff you can play with in there to see if it is causing the issue like the noise supression, reduction, AGC, etc.

Sounds like they aren't selected in Cantabile

@@FrugalStreamer Yeah, I kind of sorted it out. And they actually were selected in cantabile, but still didnt get any signal. Apparently, Potato has its own virtual insert device and I had Cantabile set on the device you used. Now Im running into a different problem. Whenever I route the audio through Cantabile, doesnt matter what plugin Im using or if Im even using a plugin, because the problem persists even if I just run it straight through Cantabile. Im getting a lot of crackles in the signal, like, unbearable constant amount. I checked sample rates - everything is running on the same sample rate.

When editing the input channel ports its only options are VM-VAIO 1, 2, 3, etc not In # 1 left and right. Why is this?

Did you use the insert ASIO driver?

@thefrugalsteamer how can i use the plugins i have them set up they work but discord cant hear them ? and want to use voice changer in game and it wont work how do i use the plugins to change my voice for game voip and discord

If your Discord input is set to the Voicemeeter VAIO channel your mic is outputting to, they should hear it.
