If you want some more "theatrical" Voiceplay, I'd suggest either "Hoist the Colours" or "The Dragonborn comes - Skyrim", "Warriors (imagine dragons)" or "My Mother Told Me" (from "Assassins Creed - Walhalla"). For the incredible vocal and video performance, "Halo Theme", and listen to the second half, where they explain why they did that video... ;-) On a more "traditional" note, I'd suggest "I can't help falling in love" or "True Colours"... Or a number of others :-D . From their "Disney line", I suggest "Friends on the other side", and all the "Disney medleys" like Moana, the Little Mermaid and more, and of course their "Nightmare before Christmas" series and the Halloween videos. Last but not least, their "Broadway/Musicals line", with "Phantom of the Opera", "Wicked Medley", "The Greatest Show Medley"... ;-) You can literally choose any. They're all good. And if you like the bass singer, Geoff Castellucci, he has his own channel, where he performs "a cappella" multiplying himself. "Far over the Misty Mountains Cold", "House of the Rising Sun", "Shenandoah", "Blackbird", "High and Dry"... His Halloween stuff is also fun and impressive. :-) Again, you can't fail. Choose any, they're all good. :-) Great reactions. I simply LOVE watching new reactors fall into the Voiceplay/Geoff Castellucci rabbit hole. And don't forget their good friends, Home Free, and Pentatonix... ;-)
Inddeed, indeed Davide Baroni. I only have to add 1 tiny thing. Listen at least 2 of more times, this group have hidden a few gems in their songs which you only heard when you listen a few times. #HoisttheColours
@@whitevader007 Well, that applies to pretty much EVERY ONE of their videos :-) So many little things that are so subtle that even many experienced reactors notice only after a number of "repeats". Just as an example... There's a short, terrific bass line that Geoff sing just after Layne's "To add a little spice!" that so many just don't notice... Unless they listen a few more times, of course ;-) . And you just MUST listen to these videos through a GOOD set of headphones, or you'll miss so many little things ;-) .
Hoist the Colours and The Dragonborn Comes have that cinematic epicness. Little Mermaid, Moana, and Wicked are amazing and playful medley compilations.
I had planned on suggesting butter, since I saw that they had a poster with BTS in the background. Also boy bands in five minutes since it ends in a BTS song.
So glad you've fallen down the Voiceplay 'rabbit hole', so much to enjoy from this talented group. From what you've enjoyed so far, I'd recommend 'Hoist the Colours' (that song was heard in the 3rd Pirates of the Caribbean move, but Voiceplay makes it into their own cinematic experience, just like they did with this song). Their 'Little Mermaid Medley' and 'Moana Medley' are terrific too, if you're familiar with those movies. 'Queen in 5 Minutes' is awesome, as is their much less serious 'Boy Bands in 5 minutes'. You're going to see different lineups in these videos, when you see 'featuring' it will mean someone outside the group was brought in to guest, like Ashley Diane was for 'Bruno'. The three core members are Layne (beatboxer), Geoff (pronounced Jeff), the awesome bass with the 5-octave range who played Oogie Boogie, and Eli (prounounced L-E or 'Ellie' rather than E-lie, it's for Eliezer), the bald tenor (also quite impressive range). Two of the guys in this Oogie Boogie video have left the group: Earl, larger, bearded guy, left for personal reasons in 2020 and J None (the third of the henchmen featured in Oogie Boogie, tenor/baritone) left to join the Navy late last year. They have hired a permanent replacement Cesar (who was in the left back row on 'Bruno', he was featured as a guest a couple of times before he joined. Another member you may see is Tony, he was with them back in the days they were on the sing-off, he and Layne have their own RU-vid channel called Pattycake Productions, they do wonderful videos, mostly involving Disney characters, villains in particular.
Voiceplay is incredible on all of their videos. Also check out Geoff Castellucci's ( Bass singer ) videos. Sixteen Tons, Country Roads, Shenendoah, Over the Misty Mountains Cold and his newest Big Bad John
Voiceplay doesn't always put on make-up and "dress up". Sometimes they just sing. That reminds me; they have a video of the song "Just Sing" from the Trolls movie that you should check out. Some of their friends and former members are featured as well. If you turn on "closed captions", it will show who is singing and their connection to the group. ... Guy
It's maddening! I get it that they are reacting, but reactors should show respect and not talk over the performers. How can they possibly truly enjoy it if they're not paying attention to the subtleties and nuances? Listen ... stop the video ... comment on the video... start the video back ... listen ... repeat all the above. It's not rocket science! Yes, they're enthusiastic and that's good. But enthusiasm without thought is shallowness.
@@johnbattles1002 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼 I have also seen comments from people who object to reactors stopping. To them I say, go watch the original video before you watch reactions. Also, I say to them, look up the word reaction in a dictionary, just so you'll k ow what these content creators are supposed to do
I highly recommend either Dragonborn Comes from the Skyrim game or Sixteen tons. Both are amazing, and the latter is only Geoff as he is a low bass singer.
For awesome Voiceplay vocals AND visuals, I definitely recommend you check out "The Dragonborn Comes," and "Hoist the Colors." If you want more of Geoff's dulcet bass tones and incredible vocal range, he has his own channel. Check out his covers of "Blackbird," "Far Over the Misty Mountains Cold," "Sixteen Tons," and "Big Bad John," to name but a few. With Voiceplay or Geoff alone, you really can't go wrong with any video you pick.
Really enjoying your reactions to Voiceplay. The arrangements are done about 50/50 between Geoff Castellucci (the bass) and Layne Stein (the beatboxer). Whoever arranges the piece, takes control of costumes, videography, and set design. They do all of it themselves. Eli Jacobson, the bald tenor does most of their lighting and special effects, I don't know how long that's been true, but for quite awhile. Eli has also done some arranging. He arranged their cover of Eleanor Rigby. It had been in the works, and then their high tenor (the big bearded man in this one) left for personal reasons. Eli reworked the arrangement for just the four of them. The emotion in the video is very moving, having lost a friend. Welcome to the rabbit hole! As others have said, Geoff does solo work, he started during the pandemic, please check him out as well!
Loved your reaction, thanks! I want to toss in another vote for Dragonborn, and also suggest Eleanor Rigby (Beatles cover). Eleanor Rigby is simply gorgeous, fairly traditional in their setting (ie, less theatrical) and significantly different from most of their other performances. It gives you a real sense of the depth of musical skills of these guys.
Geoff's Monster mash is great. Voiceplay's Moana medley is great too, or their You're a mean one mr Grinch, or their jingle bells mixed with the mission impossible theme. Argh, too much choice
If you are a Broadway fans you should check Wicked Medley or if you prefer more Disney check out their Moana or Little Mermaid Medley, those videos are ALL amazing
Voice Play is fabulous! Favorites are: Hoist the Colours (EPIC!), Warriors, Carry On Wayward Son, Butter, We're Good, If I Were a Rich Man, Bang, the Wicked Medley (awesome!), The Dragonborn Comes, My Mother Told Me, Boy Bands in 5 Minutes ... and so many more.
The Halo Theme is a must Carry On, Wayward Son. Boy Bands in 5 Minutes. Any of their collaborations with Rachel Potter. Some of their older stuff like (Not Giving Away) My Shot and Grim Grinning Ghosts... you cannot go wrong with this group.
My Mother Told Me and Hoist The Colors are my ABSOLUTE favorites!!!! Geoff is so amazingly talented with the fact he's a true bass, not many people are! 🤗🖤 And the Misty Mountains Cold is just Geoff but it will blow your mind!
New sub here :) So happy you found VoicePlay! I would suggest their arrangement of Phantom of the Opera with Rachel Potter...fantastic!! They are called the theater kids of the a capella world for a reason!
Hey guys, I just found your channel, oh, about 6 minutes ago. I just watched your reactions to both Voiceplay videos. I noticed in particular you were impressed by the bass singer's voice (who isn't?). May I recommend you check out his personal RU-vid channel, simply called Geoff Castellucci. He has some remarkable covers there where he really shows off his insane range. Perhaps watch "Shenendoah" or "Misty Mountains Cold." Have a good day.
If you want to dive into another a capella rabbit hole try Home Free. Working For A Living would be a good start because the video will give you each member’s name.
Geoff Castellucci. Epic Bass! Check him out as well - High and Dry, Blackbird, and Voiceplay's Carry on my wayward son, Dragonborn comes to name a few!
If you want a departure from the two you have watched. The same members that were in this video do a cover of "Can't Help Falling in Love". No beatboxing. Just all five singing. It's pretty epic. Enjoy the journey. These guys are really good.
The bass singer also has his own channel. Far over the Misty Mountains Cold by Geoff Castellucci is amazing. The Dragonborn Comes/Skyrim" by Voiceplay is full of very low notes.
I like your enthusiasm and energy, BUUUUT, i really wish you'd pause before rambling about something while your missing out on something else. Y'all have busy mouths lol
Yep - was saying “that note right there” (about NOT his lowest note) while he was actually then hitting his final major subterranean note. I don’t think you really heard his final drop. I recommend pausing the video if you commentary, and then backing up a bit when you restart. This allows you hear all the details and transitions.
Welcome to the rabbit hole. :) You should check out Home Free as well. PTX vids tend to get blocked (as you know). Voiceplay and Home Free are more liberal with reactors.
Two of their best so far in my view are "The Grestest Showman Medley" and "The Dragonborn Comes/Skyrim" they are their newest ones. Voiceplay started out good, but they just keep getting better and better. Just remember that, not ony do they do all the instrumentals themselves with their voices, they do all the props, sets, lighting and videos themselves too. Geoff Castelucci (bass singer) has a wife who does a lot of the costumes for their videos. Eli Jacobson (the bald guy, pronounced Ellie), does the lighting. They all work together to build the sets, the one for "The Greatest Showman" was amazing and all built to scale. Layne Stein (vocal percussion) co-owns a studio in which they do all their stuff and he and Geoff take it in turns to edit the videos and audios. They have been friends since high school but appear to be in competition with each other to see who can do better, which works out well for us fans. 😊 Have fun listening to this group, all us fans definitely have and we've had a great time, I'm sure you will too.
For better recognition coming from "Bruno" - you obviously recognized Geoff, Layne is with lighted nose (playing Zero the dog) and Eli is one in red plus he is the one voicing Santa (lip-synced by Geoff's brother-in-law Pasquale Palazzolo). Two members of the group have left since then - high tenor Earl Elkins Jr (here with beard; one of founders along with Geoff and Layne, left for personal, probably health connected reasons - now Eli does the extra high parts as well) and baritone J.None (in skeleton costume; left to serve in the navy; they have recently found Cesar in his place)
Fantastic reaction. Can you react to VoicePlays song. Warrior (imagine Dragons) please its amazing. Layne beatboxes while playing a violin at the same time xx
Been a while since you reacted to VoicePlay, would be nice to hear another one (or dozen!) on your channel, including Geoff's (the bass) solo work. A word of caution, though: Their arrangements are fairly 'dense' with little special 'moments', so not a lot of 'air' in which to talk over it, lest you obscure one of them. Such as talking over the big finish bass note here, exclaiming over the one before! lol
If you're going for VoicePlay I recommend The Little Mermaid Medley, Hoist the Colors, Friends on the Other Side, Kidnap the Sandy Claws, This is Halloween, and Grim Grinning Ghosts.
Check out another Acapella group, named "Home Free". Their cover of Johnny Cash's song , "Ring Of Fire" is fantastic. In this, they feature Avi Kaplan former Bass singer of Pentatonix. Home Free is : Austin Brown - high tenor Rob Lundquist - tenor Adam Chance - baritone Tim Foust - low bass Adam Rupp - beatboxer Home Free has millions of followers that they call "Home Fries". Thanks!
The bass singer, Geoff Castelucci, also does solo videos, and they are GREAT! Yes..please do check out "Hoist the Colors" and Dragonborn Comes." So Glad to see you enjoying them! :)
Loved your reactions to Voiceplay; you are truly going to enjoy their other songs, and we will definitely enjoy them with you. The line up you're seeing here is Geoff Castellucci (bass and lead in this one) , Eli (Ellee, red devil, tenor), J.None (skeleton), Earl (Laser tenor), and Layne (beatbox, and beautiful baritone). Cesar de la Rosa has replaced J.None after J.None went to the Navy. Earl left as well, and they have been holding the 5th spot open and having guest artists fill in. I suggest "Just Sing" (with the captions ON! Please!) to see all the amazing artists that have collaborated with Voiceplay over the years, plus in-house snarky comments. But choose what you will...there is no bad Voiceplay :)
Hellfire, one of their newest is amazing, as well as Geoff Castaluci (the bass here) did a solo song of another from Nightmare on Christmas 'Jack's Lament' is a good one to check out as well!
Geoff does several soloes, but my first exposure was The Monster Mash which led to my addiction to this group - or maybe I just fell down the rabbit hole. Warriors (Imagine Dragons) is one of my Top 5 today, Tennessee Whiskey, Queen in 5 Minutes, Friends on the Other Side, Halo (watch it all the way through).
Welcome to Voiceplay. Theyve been around for 25 years. There are many songs to check out - If I were a rich man, Queen in 5 minutes, we're good, wicked medley, The Greatest Showman medley, Moana medley, the little mermaid medley, hoist the colours, Dragonborn comes, My mother told me, Bang, you're a mean one Mr Grinch etc. Also check out Geoff Castellucci's own channel (he's the low bass singer of the group) - God rest Ye merry gentlemen, Sixteen ton's, headless Horseman, Monster Mash, blackbird, take me home country roads, Big bad John etc.
Just as a suggestion..I noticed the BTS mag cover in the background. You may want to check out Voice Plays version of Butter... That being said, just pick something and you won't be disappointed.
Welcome to the rabbit hole that is VoicePlay. I would recommend their Halo theme song, Hoist the Colours, Butter, Dragonborn, pretty much ALL of them. Lol The Halo one does have a tribute to a friend at the end, but it's so worth the watch. And it's where Geoff(Jeff), the bass, hits one of his lowest notes
Geoff's last note just about falls off the end of the piano. Another a capella group you may want to check out is Home Free. The country version of acapella.
The dragonborn comes. The Disney covers are really good too (little mermaid and moana medley, friends from the otherside), halo theme. Geoff has some solo stuff that are really good too
Hey I love you guys reactions but and I’m not trying to be negative but talking during the video is very distracting, maybe if you stop it react and the start again it wouldn’t be so distracting, just saying can’t really hear the song over the talking. Just putting that out there!
