Eli’s growl, Cesar’s “Gollum” voice, Layne’s burp-boxing (and other insanity), and Geoff with that lovely, rounded classical sound. And Liz-holy cow those high notes-in character voice! This is #Genius. I love this format of yours where you hear it through first to get the full effect, then go back and pull out the things that catch your ear. Great reaction, Qofy!

They aren’t playing any specific characters for this one. They made up the storyline completely on their own! The makeup artists deserve an award.

Elizabeth coined the phrase that Layne now does burb-boxing.... Great reaction, your face mirrored what mine felt like the first time through. This music is a classic piece from the 1700's with no characters associated with it.... the characters and story is all VP's invention. Don't sell yourself short. Elizabeth talked about the vocal skills, but you talked about the rhythms in a way I hadn't heard before, and I learned from it. All of the top reactors teach us something different, and you are among them.

I am sure that I looked like you did the first time I heard it. Just gobsmacked. Leave it to VoicePlay to take a classical piece of music, turn it inside out and upside down and come up with something like this! Terrific reaction and analysis!! I am so glad you were wearing pants today! 😂. I just viewed the reaction and analysis by the Charismatic Voice and it’s amazing how you come up with totally different things to point out. I learn so much from reactors like you and Elizabeth, Mortius and the others. Thank you for doing this. It adds to my appreciation for what they’ve done and that of course adds to my enjoyment. This is part of Peer Gynt, a really long play by Ibsen and the music was composed by Grieg. This part is (I believe) a dream sequence where Peer wakes up in the hall of the Troll King. At first he’s welcomed, which is the slow music but then he angers the Troll King 👹by refusing to marry the Troll Princess and become a troll himself. That is when the music speeds up and becomes menacing because they are chasing him through the halls. VoicePlay of course decided to put their own crazy spin on it. It may have reminded you of sugarplum fairy because it’s another classical piece of music that you’ve probably heard a million times. It’s even been in Looney Tunes cartoons! I’ve heard this song all my life but I never knew the whole story other than trolls were involved (Norwegian grandfather). I had to look it up to find out more.

They're no specific characters, just amazing makeup by Rick and Renette. Elizabeth often provides off-screen high notes for them (such as in the Frozen 2 medley) and has sung with Disney's Voices of Liberty

As you know, QoFy, I have a college degree in music, and one semester I used this piece of music as Part of a final project. Never have I ever expected an all vocal band sing this in such a manner as forever more will be a VoicePlay masterpiece!!!! Thank you QoFy, for your analysis! Spot on again, my son. You're the best! Yep, they did it again, didn't they? Voiceplay ROCK! I'm guessing they went with the theme of the title, which is an instrumental written by Edvard Greig for the five-act play 'Peer Gynt,' written by a Norwegian playwright in around 1867. (Another piece from the same production, also written by Greig, is 'Morning,' which you'll also almost certainly know when you hear it -- probably from every morning-themed advert, meme and movie in the history of ever. 😁) I'm loving Cesar more with each new video Voiceplay releases -- his versatility is off the charts. And Elizabeth absolutely rocked it to heaven with that opera voice. They're ALL amazing!

A very classic Grieg, with a voiceplay Twist. All instruments going from slow at first, then repeat repertoire faster and faster, till it exploads. But it have been used in old cartoons as well. You have heard Liz before, in frozen 2. (The voice in the woods)

I think these are entirely imaginary creatures. In the Hall of the Mountain King" is a piece of orchestral music composed by Edvard Grieg in 1875 as incidental music for the sixth scene of act 2 in Henrik Ibsen's 1867 play Peer Gynt. So the guys put a story to it. Normally it's simply played by an orchestra with no imagery.

I actually wonder if Geoff has opera training as well. I definitely heard hints of it in his voice in this one. If he does have some in his background, it would explain an awful lot about his inhuman capabilities as a singer. I know everyone is focused on Elizabeth's operatic singing, but I am hearing some of that in Geoff's voice, too. If he doesn't have that training in his background, maybe she gave him a few pointers. I love the whole piece. It has so many audio easter eggs in it! I never would have thought to try this piece in acapella style, and as usual they knocked it right out of the park! Loved it. :D And hey. At least this time you had more than your shorts on when you jumped off screen. 😂

The hall of the mountain king is by Edvard Grieg for a play called Peer Gynt and the mountain king is a troll. Not sure they are playing trolls but it's amazing anyway! I love when groups modernize classical music! Thanks for focusing on those thing we miss.

Go back and rewatch "Just Sing". You'll recognize lots of faces that may have flown under the radar on the earlier viewing. This was a wonderful R & A, you never disappoint. Did you catch the masks from their "Kidnap the Sandy Claws" video? They're in the trees. I don't believe the characters were specific to any production, I think they were generic, but Rick Underwood and Renette Feren did an awesome job on the prosthetics and makeup!

When they were touring they used to make stops in high school choir classes to sing a song and do Q&As. They had to stop because of Covid. That's when Geoff started doing solos. Geoff has a video coming out later this month and in January. Voiceplay next month. Pattycake Productions this month or next.

Layne is the carrot god. LOL He started with the carrot because he found he got under J Nones skin with the carrot, and it grew into a huge thing. If you look at all the videos that have carrots in them, and in the grinch Layne had a carrot pin on his shirt while serving the grinch.
