Everyone is incredible in this, but let's be real... This is Eli's song!!! I love him in Voiceplay, but if he announced that he was becoming the frontman for an 80s-style rock band I'd be sooo excited! The dude has such a good rocker tone.
You mentioned former members coming back, and named Tony. I don’t think you realize how often Tony has a hand in VoicePlay’s (and Geoff’s) videos. On the set while filming Friends On The Other Side, there were four VoicePlay baritones present. Tony is often credited for direction, and not just when they’re at Pattycake. (He helped with the Dream On shoot). And did you think Rachel’s extra long dress or Eli’s extra long pants for Greatest Showman were off the rack? No, Tony - costumer extraordinaire- made them. When they did that concert in Colorado earlier this year they wanted Tony to sing with them, but he prefers to stay behind the scenes. So even if he’s not singing with them, Tony is still in the family.
I waited impatiently just to see what you'd do with Eli's belt. He's so underrated sometimes! They are all phenomenal but man. You'll need Kleenex for their next release because it's really emotional and you're going to love their returning guest.
This definitely is Eli's song with help from Omar and the harmonies, OH.My.Word. I sure can understand why you are having trouble processing this song. Love Geoff's bass and Layne is stellar too. You are the best at reacting and letting us understand the musicality of the song.
It was so fun watching your brain stall out, then watching Eli melt your face off! I love this song and arrangement, too. It's one I love to point people to when they try to pooh-pooh a cappella as being tame and too barbershop-y for be interesting, ya know? (Of course you do.)
Yay! I’m glad you’re checking this out! One of my Voiceplay favorites-and usually what I love is their theater. So comment: You need a more stable base for your camera. It’s not horrible but whenever you touch your computer the camera wobbles. Agree about J. None. If he doesn’t come back then he needs to get something going on his own channel. I need a regular infusion of J. None. LOL. You see why this is my favorite of their non-theatrical songs? The arrangement is by both Layne and Eli-they def. def deserve a shoutout. And Eli did the lighting. I don’t know when he started doing that but I think this was early days. Really nice work! Great reaction-glad you loved this. The code thing is fun-hopefully there are code crackers among us. My brain hurts already today or I might try….
This song is associated with the TV show "Supernatural," and they released this the day (or a few days?) after the show's finale. So it was a real labor of love for all the fans not only of VoicePlay, but also that show. Which may be part of their motivation for pulling out *all* the stops. Oh, and Ella's collar looks so fancy and pretty. Is it new, or have I been unobservant this whole time?
I gotta say this is by far the best reaction video to this song I have seen to date. They took a serious classic that was the soundtrack to my formative years, a song that I truly love and is in my top 10 of all time, they did it justice, showed reverence, and made it distinctly their own. That is a herculean task but one they achieved with flying colors and to watch your brain melt at every little thing mine did the first time I heard it was very rewarding! Thanks for being you and sharing your light with all of us! You have brought a lot of joy to this old mans heart this year. Keep up the good fight!
This was precisely the right iteration of Voiceplay for this song. Geoff and Layne provided consistent, exciting support, and the other three provided those amazing harmonies you remarked on. Kudos to J. None, Eli and Omar for all that! Thanks, Mortius, for pointing out subtleties that I would otherwise have missed--that's why I enjoy watching your reaction/analyses.
Let’s talk about the vocal acrobatics Geoff was doing during his solo. I’ve listened to the song a handful of times (translation: about 18.4 dozen) since watching your reaction…and I swear his vocal cords were on a bloody trampoline. 🤯
This is one of my favourite VoicePlay covers, so I'm glad to see you enjoying it. (A year later, I don't expect you to read the comments, but this is the one where Tim Foust commented, complimenting J None.)
You should do a video about their Moana medley. It’s one of my personal favorites and it doesn’t get nearly enough love, in my opinion. Or maybe do a video hitting a couple of their Aca Top 10 videos, like Broadway or Disney villains or Old School Rap
So glad you reacted to this!! It’s one of my favorite voice play songs ever, and I think it’s a real precursor for some of their most creative covers (hoist the colors etc). Geoff as a bass guitar is always so fun, and Eli is just…out of this world
I had been holding out on this song hoping that you would react to it so we could enjoy it together. And you blew it out of the water. Their arrangement was absolutely amazing. And your reaction was actually a little understated in places. 😂 I think I paused and walked away more than you did. Keep on keeping on…you’re killing it. I love when I watch other reactors who say they want to get their reaction done so they can go watch yours to get more in-depth detail. PS…no such thing as too much Gravity Falls.
I find myself listening to each of their videos many times because there's so much going on that it's impossible to catch everything that's happening in just one listen.
You’re reaction are so funny The moment where you said you’re are not ready I thinks you not see Eli run in the end you are not ready for that lol 😂 Geoff release new song today please react to this video too
Absolutely amazing reaction (added to my special playlist as always) I'm so glad you got to see this one because it is one of my favourites. Oh and also, J.None is currently releasing his own music on Spotify and 😍 it is so lovely to hear his voice still...💗 (I also miss J...)
Also, yeah Tony is still SUPER active with the guys, as he Co-owns Pattycake Productions with Layne. He has just transitioned to a behind the camera role.
So happy to see you reacting to this, one of my favourites! Imo, one of the best examples of Geoff being a bass guitar and with Layne, those two are a match made in heaven! But omg, Eli and that belt... stunning! Thank you for another informative and entertaining reaction! 🤩👍
This is definitely one of their best. This was the video where Eli really got to unleash his voice fully and I completely stopped missing Earl. The song is iconic and I love the original. They absolutely pulled out all the stops to do it justice and the result was this amazing cover.
BROOOOOOOO- absolutely loving that new camera, such a nice quality! So defined and smooth. my ADHD brain loves that. And for the reaction, yea- sounds about right- my reaction was similar when I first watched.
No more green screen? No more awesome backgrounds?? Whaaaat is happening?? Lol! JK, Mortius, hope you're enjoying your new place and loved this reaction. Keep them coming! Hey Ella!
Mortius, I'm afraid we're going to need a full length song release of "High-Definition Doggo" ASAP, please - with a music video all of Ella being cute! 😂
This was the new release when I first discovered VoicePlay and I’ve been hooked ever since. I loved the reaction, one of the most broken they’ve left you lol. Can’t wait to see the next one
Evidently J-Non joined the Navy. Now he's stationed in Florida, so he can join in more often. He's singing with/ for the Navy. I'm writing this in 2024.
thanks for the shoutout! I have really enjoyed your fun and very funny yet informative style of reaction vid. cant wait for you to get to 10K and beyond!!
Loved watching you react to this one - it's one of my early favourites from when I first discovered Voiceplay. :) I've been subscribed for a while now (hello from South Africa by the way), but for some reason I've never commented before. I wanted to say that I love your combination of "fanboying" over the various singers and being able to explain to a philistine such as myself some of the nuances of the music I love. It's what brings me back to your channel every time. Your new set up looks like it'll work nicely for you. Just one thing - the camera seemed to sway quite a bit whenever you pressed the keyboard/mouse or knocked the table so I'd recommend possibly getting a tripod or stand that is on the floor to avoid that bounce/sway.
Loved this one, even when I first saw it! Eli was born for this song, like no joke. I was super excited to see my name on the list - it honestly left me wondering "When did I join again?" Still, I'm glad that I've been able to help support you. I've enjoyed watching your reactions for quite a while now, and just the joy that you bring to it is so wonderful!
Good to see a someone who respects the "competition" enough to mention them and do stuff like comment/watch their live premieres (which I admire out of you)
This was a great one to do a video on; it brought me back to this cover, and wow, it truly is so complex! 🤯 I totally understand why you were freaking out lol! Just a random connection I made, the breakdown starting at 22:27 for some reason reminds me a lot of the breakdown in their Halo theme with the beat, rhythm, feel, etc! Anyways, thanks for another great vid! 😊
As always, just love your reaction !! So glad you reacted to this one, it's one of my favs... though I have so many favs of theirs... 😍 Glad to see you are settling in and things are getting back to norm!
I am enjoying the code and working on breaking it - although it was very distracting to me actually focusing on your reaction because I kept stopping to write down the next part. Also random observation - I love Ella's collar, it is beautiful and the rose matches your shirt.
When you said the bit about the time recording the video with the fifteen minute break in the middle, I couldn't help but to laugh. I deal with ADHD as well and that happens to me all too often. Loved watching you react to this song as it is my favorite one when it comes to Eli. He pulls out all the stops in this song and I'm just like: "Give me more, Eli. Please."
The everyday person says "You can't cover the epic rock songs!!!" Voiceplay says "HOLD MY BEER" and here we have an epic rock ballad, then they go on and do "Nothing Else Matters" as well as "Queen in 5 Minutes" so one and so forth. I for one would die if they covered nearly any Linkin Park song, but I digress. Voiceplay is at this point should be in everyone's playlist.
This is one of my favorite Voiceplay covers. I love how they took an already super song and made it almost Supernatural. 🤪. Sorry, I couldn't help myself. But it was fun to watch it wreck your brain.
This is an awesome cover of a great song......I absolutely loved your reaction to this Mortius....and I love your final reaction at the end.....oh yes....they did .....end it with a deep Geoff.
Geoff released a New song yesterday... The Rains of Castamere Based on Game of Thrones Lannister family. Geoff portrays 4 of the Lannister men. It is epic and his best by far.
I heard that Geoff taught Layne how to beat box so he could take Scott Porters place as a beat boxer when Scott left the group. Geoff did a beat boxing routine in Death Of A Bachelor. He was really good too. He also did some beat boxing when the original group started at Disney.
Everyone performed amazingly in this video however, I would 100% pay to just hear Geoff's and Layne's part together. Their parts are so complex, and I so badly want to hear them singled out!
If I had known that you hadn't heard this one, I would have recommended it. It's one of my favs from VP. Another fav of theirs is Eleanor Rigby if you haven't seen that. For a 70's rock song - they did Kansas proud with Carry On Wayward Son. I was wondering what the letters at the bottom were. My brain hurts too much to try to work on puzzles right now but I know some cool icebreakers if you ever want some fun word puzzles/puzzles. Let me know.
The music purist in me would appreciate you referring to this song by its actual name: "Carry On Wayward Son" (no "my" in the title, just in the lyrics). Thank you. 😁 Great reaction!
Tony Wakim has not sung much with the group since he left, but he and Layne run PattyCake Production, which does many of the costumes and scenery for the videos, so Tony is still very involved with the group.
Thank you for another great reaction to Voice Play. Please do a reaction video of Voice Plays new cover song I Can't Make You Love Me. Have tissues ready.
My next major upgrade after the camera and microphone is going to be a better key light which will hopefully fix that problem, but in the meantime I’m afraid there’s not too much I can do about it, anywhere that lights my face well is also going to be prone to reflections
The lighting is absolutely a nod to this scene ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-xYOLDPOY4G8.html which is also amazing to listen to because that's actually Jensen and Christian singing.
I tried to watch this...I really did! But you talked for 5:45 seconds before you started the song. Then you kept interrupting the song repeatedly. I'm out dude....
Good thing I put chapters in the video so that you can skip past the intro if you want :) And for the song itself, if you want to hear a version without interruptions, theres a link to the original in every one of my descriptions!
Just a tip, avoid reaction/analysis videos. The pauses and explanations are there for us that enjoy hearing the expert breakdown of what’s happening musically.
