Geoff Castellucci. He has a personal YT channel, in addition to the Voiceplay channel. He hit an E1 at the end of "Oogie Boogie's Song." Here, he hits an Eb1. Small difference, but once you get down below 40 Hz it's at the edge of my hearing range. With the shutdowns, and with Earl Elkins leaving the group, Geoff has been doing more solo/multitrack work. On his personal channel, he's recently put up "Bare Necessities" (from The Jungle Book), "Headless Horseman," Paul McCartney's "Blackbird" (he hits an E1 there too), and the Christmas song "Mele Kalikamaka."
Someone actually commented on a VoicePlay video a while back saying that Geoff, Avi, and Tim all need to do something together and VoicePlay actually replied saying "Pretty sure that would instantly create a supermassive black hole and we'd all get sucked into an alternate reality populated only with tiny tiny unicorns" 😂😂
I've actually commented that on several reactions. Both in Home Free and Voice Plays videos as well as on Geoff Castellucci's channel I believe. With the different tones and textures to their voices, I said that it would probably go viral beyond anyone's imagination! I dream of that collaboration! ❤
@@heinz57channel39 we can agree to disagree, i personally believe Geoff has the smoothest tone and although he might not blow out speakers, his high/low range is unmatchable as well. he has the widest vocal range out of any of the well known bass singers (avi, tim, him, and matt)
If this is only your second Voiceplay reaction, you're definitely missing out!! Geoff is amazing and so are the rest of the guys. You can't go wrong with any of their songs, but I definitely recommend their Little Mermaid Medley, Boy Bands in 5 Minutes, Bridge Over Troubled Water, Warriors, and Queen in 5 Minutes. Also for Geoffs's solo channel, Blackbird and Mele Kalekemaka are my two favorites, but they're all awesome!
FYI, Geoff Castellucci did the arrangement for Home Free's collaboration with The Oak Ridge Boys. Home Free and Voiceplay competed in the same singing competition won by Pentatonix the year (or two) before. He, Tim Faust and Avi Kaplan know each other and trade tips. You can see Tim and Avi together in Home Free's cover of Ring of Fire official video.
I had to laugh when you said that Tim and Geoff should do a sing off because they were actually on NBC's The Sing-Off together in season 4 lol. Home Free and Voiceplay actually did a collaboration together a long time ago, it's a cover of "Survivor" called "Zombies vs Farmers" and a real fun watch. Voiceplay also did a video called "Sing" a few months ago with a bunch of guest singers that's a fundraiser for an artists' fund during the pandemic, and Tim and Geoff have a bit of a face-off in that as well. Definitely worth a watch, and if you turn on the captions for it there's some fun info on everyone in it as well as some funny comments!
Dear Schnell, that is the man in the green scarf. His name is Geoff Castellucci. There is actually a video titled Bass Battle D2-A0 It includes Geoff & Tim and Adam Chance from Home Free & Avi and Matt from Pentatonix. Your reindeer headband is the first one like that I have seen and when I saw it I GIGGLED like when I was a schoolgirl. It reminded me of a Christmas movie from the past where Santa had a good Sweet daughter (Played by Kathy Ireland) who moved away to be with a wonderful man and his lovely son & daughter and Santa also had a mean evil daughter who sold everything from the North Pole including the reindeer which reduced the Christmas magic. The good daughter found out what was happening and saved the day including convincing people to return things to the North Pole. The problem was the reindeer wouldn't be back until after Christmas so the evil daughter knew she had to fill in for the reindeer by pulling the sleigh. She said I will go put on my gear. 🎶👱♀️👗👠👠💓🎄🎅😊😃
Love your hat/antlers. Great reaction too. Watching this one by Voice Play for the first time as well. Geoff is a beast with his crazy range. Merry Christmas Schnell and everyone!
The Whos in Whoville certainly sound much different than I remember. The Grinch looks the same but the Whos have grown and sing a whole lot better. Schnell thanks for providing excellent entertainment this Christmas week as so many of us are hibernating at home, avoiding the virus so we will be around to celebrate Christmas 2021.
They’re the only thing I don’t really like about this video. They were always nice to everyone, including the grinch, even after he stole everything. They would never say those mean things to/about him.
Geoff uses a different technique for most of his bass notes. He actually explains the different ways of hitting notes like that in one of his videos. Adriana Arellano is the girl singing. She's only 16. I hope she gets to sing with them in the future because she is really good.
The original version of this song in the Dr. Seuss animated movie featured the bass voice of Thurl Ravenscroft, so it's more than appropriate that Geoff Castellucci gets an opportunity to shine doing it.
You mention Geoff, Tim, and Avi working together. Funnily enough this actually happened because Geoff Castelucci actually arranged the Home Free video of Ring of Fire featuring Avi Kaplan. That was Home Free's first major record and actually Avi has a producer credit on it. In the process of the three working together, both Avi and Geoff have credited Tim with making them better Bassists. If you have watched the Sing Off, you can see how Geoff especially has improved so much. He gives so much of that credit to Tim. Even though all three have different strengths and styles in their bass, what they all do very well is use their high register. One of the things Tim always says is the best way to learn to sing lower is to practice singing higher. It's a vocal range, therefore it's not going to expand at one end and not expand at least a little at the other.
Love this video, and always love your reactions. As a bass singer, I love to hear these basses (not bssists by way, a bassists I think plays a bass string instrument. I love your costumes, sweaters etc. but I'd change the background for this season. While it is lovely, it clashes with Christmas colors, so I suggest a change for the holidays anyway.
HAPPY NEW YEAR SCHNELL...great reaction and terrific version. Another reactor did a comparison of 4 Acapella groups (including VoicePlay), and his review liked them all, but that Pentatonix was far above them all. i've only heard two, but PTX's version was incredible...you should react to their version. It is different than VoicePlays, but just remarkable, and will blow your mind !! Also, hoping to join your site this evening.
Since you asked for it here's the link to the bassist singoff; ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-26s5QkgxtBc.html and I'd like your reaction to it! 💝 Merry Christmas and Happier New Year to you and yours!
I feel like you should give a little bit more credit to the other singers. Layne is a PHENOMENAL beatboxer, and he has some good moments in the song that I feel was under appreciated. You should watch Warriors by VoicePlay if you wanna hear some SICK PERCUSSION!
I love your reaction to this video. The only woman I know that comes close to this Diana Ankudinova. (She has several new releases by the way.) But the bass of Voice Play. Geoff C. has recently released a bass solo cover of Tennessee Ernie Ford's classic song Sixteen Tons. Mr. Ford sang it back in 1955. Geoff does it justice in his cover. As much as you like bass voices. You should check it out! Stay safe.
Voice play are really good and bass dude is pretty insane but I honestly rather pentatonix version of this song, plus it’s the only song I know of where Matt is the lead for the whole song and he absolutely crushed it. Another great video my friend! Love the antlers lol. All love ❤️
Geoff Castellucci is the Bass aka Beast! React to Headless Horseman or Blackbird to see him in full effect. Geoff credits Tim Foust for inspiring him to go lower.
Geoff is amazing, along with the rest of Voice Play. But Geoff, I'll say it to you like I have a few other Reactors. I'm a Straight Male, but I'd listen to him sing the Phone Book. LMAO! And from your reaction, you would also. LOL. Great Post.
Geoff Castellucci is the bass of VoicePlay. He also does the arrangements for them. He's a fan of Thurl Ravenscroft, the voice of Tony the Tiger (Kellogg's Frosted Flakes) and a number of songs for older animated shows like "How the Grinch Stole Christmas" and "The Legend of Sleepy Hollow" (Geoff Castellucci covered "Headless Horseman").
Fun fact: Home Free and Voiceplay were both in Sing off the year after Pentatonix won. Voiceplay ended up in the middle, but Home Free won that season. They did do a video together after the show, Zombies vs hillbillies.
Hi Schnell. That was fun, thank you. Have a Merry Christmas & wonderful New Year & may God bless you. (Angelina Jordan Update) Angie came out with a Live video on 12-16-20 please react to it. Angelina Jordan - Million Miles (Official Live in Studio) ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-3KxvwuZ7oEM.html She did some little changes to it for it's live studio cut.
My Sweet Angel Schnell. I’m a 69-year-old, 54-year Life Member, and 1987 International Chorus Champion (as a Tenor) of the Barbershop Harmony Society - I’m a huge fan of most forms of Acapella - from; Barbershop Quartets & Choruses (of course), to Pentatonix, to Home Free, and VoicePlay. To college groups like BYU’s Vocal Point, and Noteworthy (see their version of Amazing Grace at: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-X6Mtpk4jeVA.html). To Multi-trackers like Sam Robson and Danny Fong. Plus, groups like; Take 6, The Real Group, Singers Unlimited, and so many others, including what in my humble opinion is THE Greatest Acapella Group on the Planet - VOCTAVE. That said, please allow me to suggest you react to another great Acapella performance by a group I’m quite sure you’ve never heard of. I’d never heard of them until I just stumbled across this Beautiful version of Auld Lang Syne by The Choral Scholars of University College of Dublin: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-W_6Vs8pADrQ.html This performance by these 6 young men and 10 young ladies is every bit as good as those I just mentioned, and the arrangement is outstanding! If I am ever in Ireland, I would LOVE to go see the Choral Scholars in concert! May everyone, have a Great 2021!
Here is the URL to the latest RU-vid Battle of the Acapella Basses, featuring: Tim Foust, Geoff Castellucci, Avi Kaplan, Adam Chance and Matt Sallee [Low Notes Only - D2 to A0] ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-wbK6h1GlAXk.html
Jordan I may be a few months late with this BUT, if you want another KEWL version of this song check out CPO Williams with the US Navy Band doing this several Christmases ago>>> ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-SYNGK8VVpDY.html Would love to hear you react to this one
Sorry but I'm really anal about sound/mouth movement sync and after you did your first rewind...its off. For me at least. BUT only in the music video, not on your voice. THEN it is fixed after your second pause! :D Yay!
I agree, let's start a good will competition suggestion, Avi, Tim,, and Geoff. Oh hell throw in Peter Hollens, for a a song to help unite the world to do better, to be better, and to live better!!!
Jeff always dominates in everything they do. Actually Jeff, in a instructional video on bass singing claimed that Tim was the master at sub-Harmonic growl .
It seems to be off in some places and fine in others. I also saw some pixelation in their corner that wasn’t happening to Shnell, so I think it was an issue with her streaming or recording.
