One thing you should do after this event is immediately ping your radars, because it not only puts a couple of them offline, it horribly decalibrates ALL of them as well, some even down to single digits. Good thing I already sent my signals, because it took me almost an entire day to fix all of this.
The same happened to me, and I was also scared as hell. The only thing that got me out of my scared state was when I realized that half my radars were offline, and that made me mad as hell, lmao.

I think you can prevent it by looking and seeing if its shaped like a thin rectangle and reset it before its done with downloading and the detector. Not sure
You should check out the secret keys around the map, there's one on top of your base, one on top of a bridge, and on top of the hills is the lock they fit into. They're strange squares that slot in in a grid.

Huh, I don't see why there would be a signal that has a jolly roger inside space. Aliens don't know our culture that deeply, right? They can't possibly know the jolly roger and use it in a fricking malware.
the jolly roger might be a part of the os to indicate a critical flaw and is shutting down everything, but interstellar computer viruses are pretty much impossible due to language differences sooo
