The voices of veterans come alive as former military men and women share their very personal and poignant stories of service. VOICES: Veterans Storytelling Project is the culmination of storytelling workshops by Orange County theatre artist Dave Barton.
Tom Tierney joined the Air Force through the ROTC program in 1960, driven by a dream of flying. But his service ended up leading him into far more diverse and surprising directions, as he found himself at the center of what he calls the "Comic Book War", where ideas and technologies sprung from the pages of fantasy comic books were turning into real inventions deployed in battle, such as remote-piloted drones. He hopes that future imaginative authors can do just as effective a job envisioning how to wage peace.
VOICES: Veterans Storytelling Project is presented by Arts Orange County, Heroes Hall at the OC Fair & Event Center, and the Tierney Center for Veterans Services. VOICES is made possible in part through funding from the National Endowment for the Arts, the California Arts Council, the Orange County Community Foundation, Heroes Hall Veterans Foundation, and the William Gillespie Foundation
